Say, mac. I decided to share some of my favorite episodes of the classic Turtles cartoon. You may see why Bill Martin is my favorite Shredder:

IMO, Bill didn't just kept Avery's essence, but he also made the character his own and he also managed to sound more ruthless and cold-hearted than his predecessor. Plus, he has great chemistry with Pat Fraley's Krang.

He sounded pretty cool. Yeah his screaming wasn't great, but I liked the sound of his voice.

    Aaaah, very nice.

The 60's were hit and miss, actually, especially if you hear some of the performances in the 1966 Marvel Super Heroes.

Chapman, Harvey and Banas had really great range.

In the 70's, DC cartoons had better performances than the Marvel cartoons (which were pretty horribly directed).

The 80s were boss. I love Transformers too. There were also a lot of underrated performers back then, people like Bill Martin and Stanley Ralph Ross always delivered awesome performances.

Also, I must say that the best performers would have to be old time radio veterans like Michael Rye, June Foray, Shepard Menken, Janet Waldo and Bill Woodson. I loved hearing these guys in a cartoon. Mike's Green Lantern is my favorite superhero performance from the 70's and Shep Menken's Dr. Doom was pretty awesome. Also, Bill Woodson's Jameson is so hilarious!!!

I have different opinions on each decade:
Performers in the 60s were both hit and miss: I enjoyed the works of Vernon Chapman, Tom Harvey, & Carl Banas.
Not much experience with the 70s I'm afraid.
I REALLY enjoyed 80s performances. I loved the actors in Cartoons like Transformers & Garfield & Friends. Some of my fav 80s VAs included: Frank Welker, Peter Cullen, Howard Morris, Chris Latta, Hal Rayle, Ed Gilbert, Don Messick, & Scatman Crothers.
