Oh yeah, that must be tough to get clips. But technically Mion is both Mion and Shion, lol. Being serious, yeah, good Mion clips for the Question arcs. Honestly you'd probably get those in Onikakushi over Watanagashi.

Also I heard that Xanthe Hunyh is Hanyuu. That's a pretty solid choice IMO. Fun fact, one of her first roles was Siesta in the dub of Zero no Tsukaima, where she also dubbed over Yui Horie.

Ron Yuan's Saejima isn't bad but I just find it bland. Saejima is such a monster of a man with a gentle heart, and Rikiya Koyama is really good at balancing both of that. Ron Yuan just sounds way too... composed. I admit I haven't listened to him much since I'm trying to keep spoilers to a minimum.

The Gundam arc in Gintama is one of the best.

Good work on finishing Gintama S1. It's all uphill from here.

I really think Funi's dubs suffer from age mismatch more than any other dub. Sometimes you can forgive it if the acting is good. Like I'd say a lot of the characters in Fruits Basket 2019 suffer from this on the dub side, but the acting is of high enough quality IMO that I can let it slide. But Mion not only sounds older but really boring. Not sure if the actress would be able to differentiate her Mion from her Shion well. We'll see. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on that when Shion shows up dubbed. There are times when an actor/actress is good at distinguishing their roles and times when they just aren't.

I listened to some of the dub plus that clip. Khoi is good. The bar is painfully low (sorry Grant) but a bunch of the people at Funi would have made him sound annoying or bland, so this is a victory. I also agree, there's something off about Mion. I have no idea how to articulate what it is properly. My best bet is that it's not... mischievous enough. Mion is always sounding like a prankster, except when she's crying or killing you. Rika and Satoko aren't terrible but they're whatever. I do think that Rika actually says Nipah well, which is a victory. It's early and I'm tired but I thiiiiiiiink Tomitake is Ian Sinclair, which isn't a half bad choice. Gotta take what you can, I guess.
