Speaking of Chiba, I think we really need him to voice The Joker one day. Bin Shimada too, since he basically took over Takeshi Aono's roles for DBZ Kai, and Aono also played Joker.

Finding out about Japanese dubs of American movies has been pretty interesting. For example, Chikao Otsuka was Dr. Strangelove in a 1971 dub of the film of the same name and Eiko Yamada played Wendy in a dub of The Shining. Interestingly enough, the seiyuu who dubbed over Jack Nicholson in that film was Taro Ishida, the go-to seiyuu for Gene Hackman, but it would have been funny if it had been Shigeru Chiba since he's Pilaf and Eiko's Mai. Shigeru Chiba would be a perfect choice for Jack Nicholson, right?

Ah, makes sense. I've honestly given up on Ocean Kai airing at this rate. We know it exists, but it just hasn't aired on TV yet. And I believe they started working on it not long after FUNimation started working on it. It's been about 9 years since the VA's first announced that the Ocean dub of Kai. I'm not sure if the interest is there anymore.

We'd need a miracle to happen to get Ocean Kai on the air.

They're actually dubs of the entirety of the film. And no, it's not a network thing. Japan tends to produce multiple dubs of one film. For example, Aliens had six different dubs produced.

Terminator 1 had four dubs produced. Two with Otomo and another two with Genda. For a dub that was produced in 2001 where Genda reprised the T-800, Rikiya Koyama was Kyle Reese and Rica Matsumoto was Sarah Connor.

Also, do you have any hope for the Ocean Kai dub to air at this point? Because honestly, I don't see much chance of it airing. It would have been cool to hear the Ocean actors again, but I don't know if it's ever going to air. I wish I was proven wrong though.

Is there a reason why there's two Japanese dubs of this Terminator 1 scene? Is it a network thing?

If you haven't seen this, here it is:

Two Japanese versions of the gun shop scene in Terminator 1, one with Tessho Genda (Japanese Optimus Prime, Toguro, Kurama and Shu) and another one with Ryuzaburo Otomo (Dabura and Crocodile).

Oh yeah, they would have been perfect in those roles.

You said on how Kazuhiko Inoue would have been a better choice to voice Roy Mustang in the 2003 FMA series. Would have you also preferred if Atsuko Tanaka and Megumi Ogata had played Lust and Envy too respectively in that series? While I liked Yuko Sato and Mayumi Yamaguchi's performances, they would have been perfect in those roles too.

Some things I managed to discover too were clips of the Batman TAS and G.I. Joe dubs.

I listened to Cobra Commander and Destro's voices for the show, and honestly, they should have gotten Nakao and Gori to play them like they did for the movie. CC and Destro's voices have these weird effects applied to them.

For whatever reason, only a few of the characters in G.I. Joe have confirmed seiyuus, unlike in Transformers, where you can pretty see that the majority of the characters have confirmed seiyuus.

Yeah, that definitely sounds different in comparison to liuzuka & Inada's voices for the characters. Might be worth bringing this up to an Admin/Mod. See what they think of it.
