Happy late Birthday to you Veronica.

Started from the bottom in NY and now giving it her all in LA she was the original Ash Ketchum, the best Sailor Pluto and April O'Neil and always knocks it outta the park every time.

Not to mention she's now in stuff like Dissidia Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem Heroes and a ton of other things too.

I thought her birthday was Apr 9, 1978. Since when did her birthdate changed???? (It's been so long that I've never followed her status, last recent was in 2013!!!)

Long story short there are a couple private sources that suggest a 1960s birth year and an interview where she says she did grad school and had a few off years doing other things before doing Pokemon. Usually when you're done grad school you're in your late 20s, throw in a few extra years and so being in your early 30s by 1998 makes sense.

Veronica Taylor..... What else needs needs to be said? This woman is Truly one of The Finest Regular Voice Artists from 4Kids Talent Pool; Bringing a Heart and Exuberance that easily made her my Favourite voices for May, April O'Neil and of course 'The Frozen One' Ash Ketchum.....

I also Adore her voice work as Cosmos and Sailor Pluto, Bringing the Right Balance of Ethereal Maturity and Maternal Warmth those characters Crucially Require in their voices.

And She's also Great at Giving Arts and Crafts Videos on YouTube.....

She's definitely a Voice Actress I want to Meet (and Possibly Work with) One Day.....

Knowing his habit of Using LA Based Anime Dub Artists in his Projects, I do hope Jamie Simone will use Veronica Taylor in an Animated series that he does ADR Work on....

Well from the latest article from toonzone it looks like she will be starring in Nickelodeon's "Welcome to the Wayne" as The Spy from Apartment 8-I.

Guess this will be the first time she's doing an Pre-lay animation show after moving to Los Angeles.

propably wont expect her and dan reunion in the near future but a reunion between her and schemmel is a possibility

Happy Birthday Veronica Taylor!

My favourite role from Veronica is probably a tie between Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun and Ash Ketchum. She really brought a lot of energy and charm to both those characters IMO! And her April O'Neil is rather enjoyable as well, she made her sound very likeable I'd say.

Carly Carmine from Yugioh 5DS is also another great performance, making sound so freaking adorkable. And even rather sinister as Dark Signer Carly. Definitely a stand out from the 5DS dub honestly.

I also love her performances as Max and Aki Taylor, Delia Ketchum, May, Jody, Falala and Fololo, Martha, and the Ancient Fairy Dragon!

Happy Birthday Veronica Taylor!

My top 10 favourite roles from her are:

1.) Ash Ketchum (Pokemon)
2.) May (Pokemon)
3.) Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun (The Slayers)
4.) Sailor Pluto/Setsuna Meioh (Sailor Moon)
5.) April O'Neil (TMNT)
6.) Delia Ketchum (Pokemon)
7.) Unazuki Furuhata (Sailor Moon)
8.) Astraia Tor Deikun (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin)
9.) Griffith (young) (Berserk)
10.) Max Taylor (Dinosaur King)

You know with that new Pokemon movie, they're releasing in Japan this year and the major success with the recent Yu-Gi-Oh! movie, it'd be really nice if TPCI threw us fans a bone and bring back Veronica (and to a lesser extent Eric Stuart and Rachel Lillis) for this movie since it's a alternate retelling of the original series. Knowing TPCI they won't deliver and continue to wade around in mediocrity. Who knows how they'll dub this, but i'm just saying it'd be nice to have Veronica back as Ash, even if its just for a special occasions such as this.

As for her career in LA, I'm surprised she's not cast in more things outside of Viz's dub for Sailor Moon, I'm hoping she'll breakout soon. It'd be nice if she was in Hunter X Hunter down the line.

Happy Birthday, Veronica Taylor!

I'd have to say my favorite performances from her are in Pokemon, because I think she had a incredibly strong understanding of the personality of the characters she voiced in that Series, and she gave each one of the three major roles she played (Ash Ketchum, Delia, and May) very age appropriate, fitting voices as well.

I believe your Ash managed to have the same enthusiasm as energy as Rica Matsumoto's Satoshi does in the Japanese Version, all while giving him a unique, distinct 10 year old boy like voice, demonstrating a tremendous amount of range & personality in the part.

Your Delia had a very warm, motherly tone to it with a lot of enthusiasm as well, in addition to your May, which had a really energetic, as well as 10 year old girl like performance to it.

Needless to say, much of my respect for Veronica Taylor comes from the voice over work she did in the old 4Kids dub of Pokemon.

She was also pretty good as April O'Neil in the TMNT 2003 cartoon, Amelia in Slayers, and I'm pretty happy she landed a famous role for herself as Sailor Pluto in the Viz English dub of Sailor Moon.

Now to get sentimental on my part for a moment, since I find it fitting, as it is her birthday and all...

I have a great deal of respect for the work yourself, your co-stars, and generally your entire crew did in the old 4Kids dub of Pokemon. I personally think it's very disrespectful as well as shameful how TPCi treated all of you, when they decided not to approach any of you (with the exception of only two individuals, whose names I will not mention for the sake of not detracting from the intent of my post here) to continue onward with the Series that all of you put so much of your time, effort, care, as well as concern into making very popular and famous for all of the first 8 years of the franchise's run. For a made-for-TV dub targeted at children, it was probably the best one of its Era, only "Ronin Warriors" in contention.

It's very sad that, over a decade plus later since that event transpired, TPCi refuses to let many of you return to the franchise that you generally helped make a name for, with your sheer hard work and determination, or reprise the roles that you made a household name.

You once said on your Twitter that it was a "team effort" that helped make the original Pokemon English dub as good as it could be, and I believe that to be true.

For me, you will always be the best English dub Ash, May, and Delia we were lucky to have for as long as we did, and the same applies to your co-stars- for me, there is no better dub Brock & James than Eric Stuart, there is no better dub Jessie & Misty than Rachael Lillis, no better dub Meowth than Maddie Blaustein...the list goes on & on. When you and your fellow voice artists portrayed the characters you once did, it was very evident to me that you all invested yourselves in those parts, trying to bring out each character's true personality to light, with lots of enthusiasm in your work- you folks brought a great deal of zeal and passion to a vast majority of the performances you did in the Series, and I think it reflects in the quality of the work you all did.

On top of all of this, I generally believe the script writing team you worked with for Pokemon did a very good job of adapting the dialogue, while also staying very true to the original intent (it was mostly spot-on, save for a few annoying rewrites, but it doesn't take away from it being good the vast majority of the time), and I appreciate that Pokemon was one of only two dubs 4Kids did (on a consistent basis) that left quite a bit of the Japanese music from the original version of the Series intact (as well as having dub music that blended in fairly well on its own merit, mixed in with it, which I thought was very pleasant on the ears to listen to most of the time).

All in all, thank you very, very much for what you all did for the Pokemon franchise, Veronica- in my eyes, if no one else's, your team was by far the one that cared most about the Pokemon Series in English, doing a consistently good job (with very few exceptions, which are those that were already brought up in the voice compares) of handling the property from 1998-2006.

Happy Birthday, Veronica Taylor! It's been said time and time again by a lot of people (especially on BTVA) that she's the definitive English voice for Ash Ketchum; consider me still a part of the camp. If Rica Matsumoto's right for Satoshi, then this woman's more than alright for Ash. She really managed to make an otherwise hit-and-miss protagonist endearing with her overall performance. Speaking of Pokemon, I too enjoyed the lady's renditions of Delia Ketchum and May.

Outside the franchise, I also liked Veronica Taylor as Cosmos, Sailor Pluto/Setsuna Meioh, Jody Summer, Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun, Fonda Fontaine, Ms. Dorothy, April O'Neil, and Miyabi.

@Unknownsage13 Same here, I wouldn't mind hearing her in another title since her ONLY voice work she's doing right now is "Sailor Moon" (also Crystal) and "Gundam: The Origin". However, if she is set to do roles at Bang Zoom! it will depend on not just her schedule since she currently is raising her daughter, but also if the power to be of the production team (ADR directors, Casting directors, producers) at Bang Zoom! Entertainment know her. They are a lot different compared Studiopolis when it comes to the actors they frequently hire and bring in to use in their dub's.

It's literally a business all about relationships which would explain why the studio doesn't frequently hire the likes of: Neil Kaplan, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, Cindy Robinson, Kate Higgins, Tara Platt, Wally Wingert, Erin Fitzgerald, Michael Sinterniklaas, the actors that ONLY primarily work in titles done at New Generation Pictures, just to name a few in their dub's as they're either busy doing other projects, or they don't have strong ties with them, which would explain why most of the actor's that they use in their dub's in the last 5-6 years are the actors through the AX voice acting contests/workshops and the ones that have strong ties with the studio (Cristina Vee, Johnny Yong Bosch, Karen Strassman, Mela Lee, Patrick Seitz etc..) as they have a budget and knowledge on which ones they frequently use. But hey, I wouldn't mind if Veronica show up in "HxH" given that Bang Zoom! who are currently recording the show are starting to bring in voice actor's that normally don't do anime (Imari Williams, Jake Eberle) and those that haven't work as often at the studio (Ezra Weisz, John DeMita, Rachael Lillis) so we shall see. ;)

Speaking of which, it still surprises that Karen Strassman, David Vincent and Mela Lee primarily work at Bang Zoom!! but not at Studiopolis as they are one of the few actors the latter studio doesn't normally hire in their anime dub's despite the studio's reputation on hiring veteran actor's!!

Wondering if she's waiting to wrap up work on the Sailor Moon franchise before pursing union-only jobs.

Seems to be a recurring pattern with anime VAs who move to California.

They want more (better paid) opportunities but patience, connections/networking and a bit of luck needs to be established which can take several years as a union-only VA.

So it's probably hard to resist plentiful non-union anime work if that's all you have available in the beginning.

Not easily to make that full transition to union-only but Crispin Freeman did it, Troy Baker did it and Sean Schemmel (so far) seems to have as well.

On an unrelated note here's an interesting story.

My sister baby sits some young kids and they're in to Pokemon. We both grew up with the original series and voice cast.

These kids were watching newer episodes and my sister starting talking about the older episodes and the kids had no idea what she was talking about. She "against their will" showed them the old episodes and they became hooked and liked it much better.

During a music class the teacher had this game where you can to guess the name of the song based on a tune. It was "I wanna be the very best" and one of the kids my sister baby-sat was the only student in the class to guess correctly.

Well done, kid. Classics never die and neither will the memory of the better VAs. :)

Many fans have stopped watching the English dub at this point, myself included, but I still enjoy the first 8 years with the original dub VAs before the dub goes downhill (and currently, the dubbing is somehow even worse than when the current cast first started, amazingly enough).

Taylor will always be the best Ash, May, and Delia, hands down.
said at 10:26 AM on Sun Jun 18 2017
@Honest_Guy_Says Looks to be the case, aside from "Sailor Moon" and "Gundam: The Origin" she hasn't shown up in any new anime projects in recent years due to other priorities like: finding other areas in voiceover that pays better, taking care of her daughter.

She is set to star in Nickelodeon's "Welcome to the Wayne", which is her first foray doing original animation after moving to Los Angeles 2-3 years ago.

Once again, I think Veronica was one of 4Kids' best voice actors. She really made Ash, May, and Delia his own, as well as others like April O'Neil. Thankfully, unlike others I actually liked from that talent pool though, I'm happy for Taylor, because she's been getting more voice work recently, like Sailor Pluto, and I think the move to LA she made (as did Rachael Lillis beforehand) was a smart decision on her part, since New York's dubbing scene is dying in recent years.

Here's hoping she gets more work from Viz, because truthfully I always like hearing from her.

Hope 2016 will be the year she has a lot of LA projects being released.

Her move to LA is bitter-sweet in a way... I think she stayed in New York longer than she should have (with the dubbing work drying up) on the 0.000000001% chance she might be able to voice Ash again someday in Pokemon. Sadly since TPTB don't care about quality she probably accepted the reality of the situation and decided to move on to bigger opportunities and a change of scenery.

Best of luck Miss Taylor, you definitely deserve good things to come your way.

Probably unlikely but would be neat if she was one of the Hunter x Hunter leads.

Since she's already working on the Sailor Moon dub at Studiopolis maybe she got cast as Kaguya Otsutsuki in Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 :)

@Omar_Lopez Agreed, she is one of my favorite voice actresses from the 4Kids era, was hoping she would gain more roles after moving to LA earlier this year, but guess it took a while to get her feet wet in LA, after the move. Not to mention it took Sean Schemmel to get a lot more LA roles in 1 1/2-2 years time, here's to hope she gains more major voice over work in 2016.

Also, what does TPTB mean?

Happy Birthday Veronica Taylor!

You were such a delight to meet last year at the Ottawa Comic Con, so nice, friendly and very down to earth.

Still to this date It blows my mind that she voiced both Ash and May in Pokemon, two of the main characters and neither sound anything like each other. I have so many fond memories of the 4Kids dub of Pokemon and it's a crime you still haven't been given the chance to come back. Delia's voice is easily one of the best mom voices I've ever heard.

Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun is another role I absolutely adore of yours, such a funny and endearing character.

I'm also glad that you finally made the move to LA and got cast as Sailor Pluto. I can already see this working perfectly and I eagerly await to hear it when R's dub finally comes out. I hope we'll see you in a lot more anime in LA as well as some cartoons and video games down the line.
said at 11:04 AM on Sun Apr 10 2016
Her Sailor Pluto is absolutely perfect in just about every way, striking a perfect balance of mature yet youthful, she is without a doubt The Best English voice this character has ever had (not that there was much competition to begin with she blows all of the other voices right out of the water), not only a standout from the Viz dub of the series but also one of the best in her career.

I also liked her other roles in the series including Unazaki Furuhata (where she re-uses her May voice, which is sweet) as well as Katarina and Janelyn.

I also love her performance as April O'Neil in the 2003 TMNT cartoon, which that too is also my favourite voice for the character and the young Griffith in Berserk.

I'm really glad she's moved to LA and got a major role in one of my favourite series, I'm hoping eventually she'll make it into other anime series and other major cartoons series.

Anyways Happy Birthday Veronica Taylor! One of my favourite VA's and all round people I've ever had the pleasure to meet.

Seriously if she's ever attending a convention not too far from your neck of the woods, please do go out of your way to meet her, lovely woman in every way.

Let me say this Veronica. I am a true fan of Pokemon that believes in you. Things went downhill when you got replaced. I'm planning a special gift for you, but I might take a while. If this makes you feel any better, I have a plan that can help you do Pokemon again. I'll tell you once you respond to my message to you.

She'll always be Ash, May, and Ash's Mom to me. She was an excellent VA for the Pokemon dub, and I can't thank 4Kids enough for casting and directing her so well in the role. :')

Happy birthday, Veronica.

To me, Veronica is definitely one of 4kids' best actresses.

DuArt really needs to let her come back. And those who believe they won't let her back because she was antagonizing them and supporting SOVA - they let the unfortunatley, late Maddie Blaustein return, and she caused even more trouble than Veronica.

@Animefan98 What is/was SOVA?
said at 12:13 PM on Sun Nov 29 2015
SOVA was/is basically a fan campaign to bring back the original 4Kids English actors, and it's still apparently going on FaceBook (by that, I mean it's really just there to be there rather than them doing anything now), although I really don't know what they hope to achieve seeing as Veronica Taylor and Rachael Lillis are in California now, Eric Stuart's in Tennessee, etc.

That said, I fully agree with the sentiments the group has, and I think what TPCi did to the 4Kids crew was unfair- here's basically a video a YouTube user uploaded explaining what exactly I'm talking about:

she's the best. i love her as Ash, but when i hear some of her other work it's like i'm hearing him.

i feel that she was perfect for May's voice in Pokemon, it sucks they replaced her.

Some other trivia is her favourite Pokemon movie she voiced Ash in was the first movie :). She says so on Youtube. It really touched her heart that one so she said she liked it most :). It is my fave too

On another note, I adore her voice. Pokemon was the first anime I ever saw..heck..maybe even the first tv show too! I get a little sad when I think of her because Pokemon was a happy part of my life and she was part of it and knowing Pokemon changed so much after they got rid of her and the other main voice actors it broke my heart. I'm 20 now and I still love Pokemon (well, when she was still voicing). It just isn't the same without her.

People say she is shy about the fact she voiced a boy because of how she covers her mouth when she voices him in public. I don't think so, I think she does it to get his voice out right

Not to make her feel old, but this woman was basically my childhood. :)

Hopefully someday TPTB will let her voice Ash again.

Nice to know fans still remember her work on Pokemon (watch convention videos on youtube and you see massive lineups to get her autograph).

I missed a great opportunity to meet her at Fan Expo Canada recently so I hope she returns to another Toronto convention in the future.

My 5 favorite roles of hers (at the moment) are:
- Ash Ketchum (Pokemon)
- Amelia (Slayers)
- Delia Ketchum (Pokemon)
- May (Pokemon)
- Carly (Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's)
