I wonder how both Cherami Leigh and Todd Haberkorn started from doing Texas dubs (Funimation) to being in more LA dubs (Bang Zoom) of anime and JRPGS?
said at 1:42 PM on Sun Feb 4 2018

Simple, by moving to L.A. It would increase their chances of getting roles at L.A based studios. On a more realistic note, its more to do with getting the right agents, numerous auditions, taking a huge risk of leaving Texas to California and luck. A big plus is that both are good actor/actress so its fortunate for us that they are able to work on JRPG's and North American triple A titles.

Todd is one of my most fav VAs. He has an extremely wide range, able to go from a preteen to an elderly man, and everything in between. He's also able to nail several character archetypes, the strongest being whiny guys, typical protags, comedic characters, bishonen, and hotblooded characters.

I also like the fact that he frequently rents his studio to allow LA VAs reprise their roles from video games in Funimation dubs.

I can't wait to hear more from him in the future.

Happy Birthday Todd Haberkorn!

My top 10 favourite roles of his are:

1.) Death the Kid (Soul Eater)
2.) Natsu Dragneel (Fairy Tail)
3.) Ling Yao (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood)
4.) Assassin (Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works)
5.) Hikaru Haitchin (Ouran High School Host Club)
6.) Jadiete (Sailor Moon)
7.) Jaco The Galactic Patrolman (Dragon Ball Super)
8.) Firo Prochainezo (Baccano!)
9.) Italy (Hetalia)
10.) Bataar Jr. (The Legend of Korra)

I rather liked him as Drive Knight in One Punch Man, definitely a unexpected role for Todd to do but a pretty unique change of pace for him.

I also like his Grey Matter in the new Ben 10 show, it's one of the few new casting choices and performances I can get behind in it.

Happy Birthday to Todd Haberkorn one of the biggest names in the history of Funimation. He's shown up in any big franchise you can imagine from Pokémon as Tierno to World of Warcraft and from Final Fantasy to Halo he's certainly made a name for himself.

And let's not forget about some of his best Funimation characters such as Natsu from Fairy Tail, Death the Kid from Soul Eater, Allen Walker from D. Gray Man and so much more.

I absolutely love Fairy Tail, and in turn, Natsu. After watching season one of FT on Netflix, I watched OHSHC, and I always had the lingering thought that Hikaru's voice sounded familiar. When he dyed his hair pink in the episode where the twins were fighting, I remember the realization just crashing onto me and screaming Natsu's name at the screen... ^_^'

This is literally unhealthy for me I swear.

I skimmed through this list and I found out that Todd has been in Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! and Sofia the First. I've always loved seeing anime VAs voice act in western animation and vice versa.

Keep up the good work, Todd!

@CyberGalaxy He also voiced in Legend of Korra and the Miraculous Ladybug
said at 8:21 PM on Wed Dec 21 2016
@CyberGalaxy I love anime VAs in Western animation, in part because I really enjoy some of the shows & I think they do a good job in anime, so I figure they'll do a good job in American cartoons. I also love the works of cartoon VAs & I wish they were to be in more dubs. They have access to a much broader talent pool & anime dubs could use some of that.

But the truth of the matter is that from a business standpoint, American actors are for Hollywood works, & Japanese actors are for Japanese works, & it generally seems that ne'er the two shall meet. TV networks dont want to pay to air/voice someone *else's* work. Actors are a much smaller agent & (like everyone else) they've got to follow the money, & to pay the bills, there's pretty much no reason to do anime, whereas cartoons pay pretty substantially FTMP.

I really wish it were more of a horizontal thing, but as a job, it's really a hierarchal thing, unfortunately. It's part of why, while I *love* when my favorite dub VA's get bigger parts, as it shows signs of their improvement & it's good for their career security...I struggle to celebrate this stuff because the logical conclusion would be that they *dont* do anime. Part of why I *know* & *love* them as actors, is their dub work which was lower-paid, & just because it *pays* better for them, doesnt mean it's better *art*.
said at 8:24 PM on Wed Dec 21 2016
@andre34 tLoK was original animation, true, but Miraculous Ladybug was a French cartoon that had an English *dub*. The pay scale & budget is more along the lines of, say, the Bleach dub, than it is the much bigger stuff. However, Todd is in the Ben10 reboot, which is with Colette Sunderman who did Scooby-Doo. He's getting up there, which is good for him!
said at 7:32 PM on Sun Jan 1 2017
@huzaifa_ahmed Yeah it definitely sucks. People like Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, etc... won't be in anime anymore. Unless it's to reprise a role. It's good for them, since they're getting better pay in western. Cartoons and video games.

Happy Birthday, Todd Haberkorn! He's got a familiar, fairly unique quality to his voice which I honestly can't say I get exhausted from hearing. A couple years back when I first heard him as Death the Kid, my gut had a feeling that Todd would go on to become one of my personal favorite VAs involved with anime - and eventually he did. With that said, favorite Haberkorn roles of mine include the aforementioned Kid alongside Teruteru Hanamura, Ling Yao, Ceylan Jones/Tributon, Firo Prochainezo, Yun, Kubinashi, Hikaru Hitachiin, Keroro, Kokonotsu Shikada, Italy, Crimson Kingbolt, and Shiro Iori. But wait! There's no way on God's green earth I can forget about Todd Haberkorn's greatest role ever: Mr. Knickerbocker; the Pickle Palace is danker than dank.

Happy Birthday Todd Haberkorn!

I think he is absolutely hilarious in so many of his roles as well as surprisingly great at pulling off hot blooded yells. If there are three roles Todd has been perfect as they would have to be Natsu Dragneel, Death the Kid and Ling Yao. Im not sure which one I love more as he was just so damn good in those roles and he was also excellent as Italy, Jadeite, Judar, Hikaru Hitachiin, Firo Prochainezo, Shiro Iori, Kubinashi, Takashi Sakuma, Crimson Kingbolt, Kyoji Nemoto, Hayato Mikogami and Baatar Jr. I was so stunned when I heard Todd voicing on The Legend of Korra last year. I never thought he would make his western animation debut so soon, I hope we get to see him voice in more cartoons in the future, no doubt his voice would work very well there.
said at 4:16 AM on Tue Aug 16 2016
His performance and voice for Assassin in Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works was nothing short of awesome and incredible. This is probably one of the lowest registries Todd has ever gone too in his entire career. I don't think I ever would have considered him as Assassin like ever, I always thought Todd would have been Shinji Matou if anything but I'm glad they decided to have him play against type this time around, he gave a very interesting and unique performance as Assassin.

He was also very entertaining as Jaco the Galactic Patrolman in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F', giving him a very alien esque type of voice that fit the role really well.

His Pop in the Smile Precure/Glitter Force dub was rather entertaining and fitting, he gave one of the funnier and more memorable performance performances in this dub.

I also thought he was really enjoyable in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir as Mr. Pigeon, such a strange villain of the week character that he was hilarious.

It was also great to hear him once more as Death the Kid in Soul Eater Not! and him reprising Allen Walker for D. Gray-man Hallow.

and it's great seeing him branch out a bit more in to cartoons, while he hasn't taken on another recurring role like Batarr Jr. in The Legend of Korra, it's cool that he did some voices on Be Cool Scooby-Doo!

Happy Birthday Todd Haberkorn!

I met Todd at Melbourne Supanova this past weekend. He's a really nice guy, quite down to Earth. I talked about just how much I'm craving to work alongside him one day.

I also brought up some his more underrated or flat-out obscure roles. Such as Firo Prochainezo (Baccano!), Kinji Toyama (Aria the Scarlet Ammo), Shimomura/Anderson (Is This A Zombie?) & Lieutenant Milque (Mass Effect: Paragon Lost).
He remembered each & every one of them, complete with fond, positive memories.

He gave me some wonderful, inspiring words of "Haberwisdom", as he'd call it. He wished me the best of luck with my own voice acting endeavors. & top it all off, he even signed my Baccano! DVD right under his own character, Firo Prochainezo.

I apologise for the brick wall of text, ladies & gentlemen. 'Twas a great experience for me, no matter which way I slice it.

@Spiralpower1620 There's other North American counterparts to Ishida: For Canada, you have Brad Swaile and Richard Ian Cox. For LA, you also have Vic Mignona, Yuri Lowenthal. For Texas, you also have Greg Ayres, Jason Liebrecht, and Chris Patton.

@Spiralpower1620 Nah. To me, Todd is more like the American Kenichi Suzumura.

The most renowned young brainiacs Todd has voiced are Death the Kid and Aru Akise. With that in mind, I suppose it would have been a tough choice between Houka and Shiro

Another one of my favorites from Funimation. It's awesome that he's getting work in LA like Troy, Travis and Laura. I'm thinking at first, wait whats he doing in Fire Emblem? When I realized, I found it pretty awesome. I'm waiting for the day Colleen Clinkenbeard follows.

While I haven't watched much of the anime yet, Death the Kid is easily my favorite role of his so far. I also like him as Natsu, Allen Walker, Apos, Male Morgan, Watanuki, Taro, Tsunuke, Naru the Narcissist, Millennium Earl (had NO idea that was him), among others. While I haven't played Tales of Xillia yet, I NEVER would have guessed he was Rowen. He has a very impressive range, thats for sure.

I like that the move to L.A has helped Todd exploit his large vocal range. Izumo Kusanagi? Rowen J. Ilbert? Normally, he wouldn't have been my immediate choice to voice those guys. But from what I've heard from them, he's doing an excellent job.

Yea, I personally think the best talent in the industry comes from Funi and I too am excited to see them take the next step as well.

Nice to see his talents recognized out in L.A. Congrats Todd, cant' wait to hear your parts in Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan....
said at 10:45 PM on Sat Feb 2 2013

I'm sure L.A. is digging the Funi talent pool very hard this year and more anime will be dubbed in L.A. Cannot wait to see Jamie Marchi, Brina Palencia and Brittney Karbowski take that next step of their careers.
said at 5:00 PM on Wed Feb 6 2013

As long as they are willing to make the move to L.A and are able to work on various V.O projects in the city, then they be with the likes of Troy Baker, Travis Willingham, Laura Bailey and Kyle Hebert.

This guy is so so incredibly good. His best roles have to be; Allen Walker, D- Grey Man. Joseph Jobsen, Blassreiter imagine the privilege of dubbing Itano's work. Kimihiro, xxxHoLic. Jil, The Tower of Druaga. This guy has done some unbelievable work. Those are all leads. There's a few more up there too and I'm sure one or two they missed. wow.

He's done so many great charachters that I can't pick a fav. Just curious but am I the only one who is dying to hear the battle between Natsu and Laxus re-voiced with Italy and Germany? Maybe I'm just disturbed.
