A Rising Star in the Industry for good reason, with a Fantastic Vocal and Acting Range.

I do hope that he manages to Maintain his Solid Balance of Union and Non Union voice work that he has at the moment.

Happy Birthday Ray Chase.

Ever since FFXV came out I knew this guy was gonna knock it out of the park and he totally did. Gave one of the most tremendous performances in the game as Noctis Lucis Calem and was very believable.

Other roles he's done that I like includes the Puri Puri Prisoner, Etrigan, Roy (definitely should be brought on for the new Smash), Master of Masters, Zash Caine (nice he showed up in a FUNi project), Louis Gallois (I could barely even tell it was him), Artorius and L.

Heck he even makes a pretty good Piccolo though the character got barely anything to do in Super.

This guy has gone places unbelievably quickly, has also quickly become one of my all-time favourite VA's and I can't wait to see where he'll show up next.

Happy Birthday Ray Chase!

My top 10 favourite roles of his are:

1.) Puri Puri Prisoner (One Punch Man)
2.) Etrigan The Demon (Justice League Dark)
3.) Howzer (The Seven Deadly Sins)
4.) Sharrkan (Magi)
5.) Hanzo (Hunter X Hunter)
6.) Roswaal L. Mathers (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-)
7.) Roy (Fire Emblem Heroes)
8.) Rubber Soul (Jojo's Bizarre Adventures: Stardust Crusaders)
9.) Lancer of Black/Vlad III (Fate/Apocrypha)
10.) Dr. Genus (One Punch Man)

I'm looking forward to his upcoming performance as Roswaal L. Mathers in the Re:Zero dub that's going to be out next month. I had been wondering who'd they pick and Ray is a pretty surprising choice....not that he isn't experienced with playing flamboyant characters before but this should fit rather well I think. I imagine after this dub comes out, Roswaal will probably be higher up on the list.

Also pretty crazy he voiced Roy in Fire Emblem Heroes, I've always had Johnny Yong Bosch pegged as him (cause of Jun Fukuyama/JYB connection) but Ray works pretty well. He should voice him in Smash 5 if they do bring Roy back.

I also liked his performances as Rubber Soul and Lancer of Black/Vlad III.

Also cool he got a part in the recent Fairy Tail movie.

Ray continues to keep moving up in the industry, give him a few more years and he'll be as iconic and regarded on the levels of Nolan North, Troy Baker and Matthew Mercer.

I recently got the audiobook version of Jason Schreier's book, "Blood Sweat and Pixels", a book all about research and interviews on the developmental processes surrounding almost a dozen games, and I was pleasantly surprised to hear Ray as the narrator. He does an amazing job, with this really wry delivery that really accentuates the book's mixture of the mundane and the dramatic. I totally recommend the book, and if possible especially the audio version, to anyone who's as interested in gaming history and development and as much a fan of Ray's as I am. It talks about games like Uncharted 4, Stardew Valley, Star Wars 1313, and Dragon Age: Inquisition and is really one of the most fascinating and eye-opening books on games I've read in a long time.

Here are my top ten fave roles Ray Chase has done so far:

1. Noctis Lucis Caelem (Final Fantasy XV)
2. Howler (The Seven Deadly Sins)
3. Master of Masters (Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue)
4. Roy (Fire Emblem Heroes)
5. Yuu Otosaka (Charlotte)
6. Puri Puri Prisoner (One Punch Man)
7. Sharrkan (Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic)
8. Hanzo (Hunter X Hunter 2011)
9. Piccolo (Dragon Ball Super)
10. Saburouta Toudou (Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga)

After hearing him as these characters, I can see Ray Chase as the next big name in voice acting! He's gifted, versatile and he seems like such a friendly and easy-going guy who appreciates his fans.

When the dub gets there in a few years, Ray Chase is my choice for Kawaki in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
said at 8:41 PM on Mon Jun 19 2017
@Marakutanay I have a hunch he will make an appearance in the last couple of episodes of Naruto Shippuden that have yet to air in the United States.

If that were to be the case I would imagine him voicing these particular characters:

1. the Third Kazekage

2. Hagoromo Otsutsuki (as a Young Adult)

3. One of Hagoromo's sons (Asura or Indra)

4. One of the incidental characters in the forthcoming "Naruto's Footsteps: The Friends' Paths" filler arc (e.g. Shira, Hoichi, Mamushi, or one of the members of Team Kazami).
said at 6:45 PM on Thu Aug 3 2017

Ray Chase is currently voicing Shira in the latest Dubbed episodes of Naruto Shippuden.

( Shira is a character from the Chunin Exams filler arc. )

That being said, it would be a dream come true if he gets cast as Kawaki.

Ray Chase is my favorite voice actor, I get way more invested in a character whenever he voices them.

( I didn't care about Shira when I watched the chunin arc subbed a year or two ago. But now with Ray Chasing voicing him, Shira has become a much more interesting character for me. )

So if Ray Chase gets to voice the main antagonist of Boruto, that would be heaven.

"Ray Chase is currently voicing Shira in the latest Dubbed episodes of Naruto Shippuden."

I'll take this info with a grain of salt. Since Ray would obviously post it through social media. I still do envision him as one of Hagoromo's sons (Asura or Indra).

Happy Birthday Ray Chase!

This man was no doubt the breakout voice actor in 2016.

He was literally everywhere and continues to do so this year.

The first time I ever heard his voice was as Sharrkan in Magi and my first thought was, this Ray Chase guy shows some real potential and how right I was.

Though in 2014, he wasn't in anything noteworthy and I was a bit concerned but in 2015, he got to voice Nakura in Durarara!! and Howzer in The Seven Deadly Sins.

But of course it was last year he took the voice acting industry by force, being cast as Noctis in Final Fantasy XV is his breakout role and probably most people's favourite role of his.

For me though, it was his work in Hunter X Hunter and One Punch Man that had me more impressed. Puri Puri Prisoner is one of the best examples of his range, I was shocked to hear him in such a deep, flamboyant voice. He was also excellent as Dr. Genus, Hanzo, Geretta and Squala.

This year though, he started taking on more deeper and gruffer voices as well as some iconic characters like Piccolo in Bang Zoom's Dragon Ball Super dub (as well as Tenshinhan and Oolong in their dub, seriously I never would have imagined him as Oolong) and Etrigan the Demon in Justice League Dark (Ray's first western animation role).

Ray is the VA that just gets better and better each new role.

Give him a few more years and he will be in every single thing from now on and with his skill set, that shouldn't be a problem. Not many folks can do youthful teens/adults and gruff deep voiced monstrous voices. Ray is truly a talented VA and a pretty humble guy too.

I'm hoping when we get a dub for Diamond is Unbreakable, Ray is Josuke. I think he'd be perfect in the role and he voiced an expy of Josuke, Onigawara in Mob Psycho 100...so. Make it happen Viz!

Happy Birthday, Ray Chase! To say the least, he's somebody to keep a close eye on. Even for only having 38 roles up here - at the time this post is getting written - he's been impressive lately what with how three-dimensional his range is. Also he's very good at displaying a wide pool of emotions depending on the character. Give 'em a couple more years and there might be a chance he'll become an A-lister.

So far my favorite Chase roles are Roy, Gaius, Noctis Lucis Caelum, Puri-Puri Prisoner, Dr. Genus, L, Cinder, Hanzo, Geretta, and Etrigan/Jason Blood. His performance as Piccolo isn't too bad from the bits and pieces I've heard of it.

I finally completed FFXV's main story, and... wow... just... wow. Ray Chase not only blew the seiyuu out of the water, not only would I say that Ray Chase's Noctis is my favourite vocal performance of a Final Fantasy lead character PERIOD (and Josh Keaton in World of Final Fantasy is counted), but... it might be one of my favourite ever performances as a main protagonist in a video game in the last few years. Every emotion was delivered with an equal amount of rawness and subtlety for the right moments. It transcends just a voice performance; Ray Chase absolutely is a fan of Final Fantasy and BECAME Noctis Lucius Caelum, BECAME a FF protagonist. Without a doubt my favourite role of his, and I cannot wait to see him get more roles in the future.

His Edgar was also nigh spot on to a T to boot, and he was fantastic also as Yu Otosaka, Sharrkan and, while I don't care so much for Killer Instinct, his Cinder is also a great role!

Cannot wait to hear him as Etrigan in Justice League Dark (from the teasers and featurettes, he sounds fantastic... and very, very Liam O'Brien-esque).
said at 5:19 AM on Mon Dec 12 2016
@Lion's Edge I do agree with you in a sense. He and the seiyuu in my opinion did an excellent job portraying Noctis. I like his Noctis, maybe not as much as you but I do acknowledge Ray's amazing acting and good voice. I like the way he can voice young and old Noctis with a clear distinction. IMO however, I like George Newbern's Sephiroth better.
Lion's Edge
said at 11:56 AM on Mon Dec 12 2016
@4xNicholas George Newbern's Sephiroth is solid too... MOST of the time. I do feel that, like Steve Burton's Cloud up until recently, there is a bit of an inconsistency, but most of it probably chalks down to voice direction. His KHII performance were suitably chilling and Crisis Core is his best to date, but... then, on the other hand, I feel Advent Children (tbf, his first time) was a bit stiff, and in the Dissidia games, awkward direction let it down.

I'd have preferred other VAs as Sephiroth, but I do have confidence that Newbern - with the right directing - probably will turn me around just as Burton did in the FFVII remaster.

But, for now, Ray Chase's Noctis, followed closely by Darin de Paul as Ardyn, are the top vocal performances of the series for me.
said at 5:05 AM on Tue Dec 13 2016
@Lion's Edge I agree, Darin de Paul was amazing as Ardyn, so was Eden Riegel as Iris, and Chris Parsons as Gladiolus.

After getting to know him best through his roles of Edgar from World of Final Fantasy, which was actually what I was hoping Edgar's voice would sound like to the note, and then getting to hear him as Noctis in Final Fantasy XV, I must say... this man has talent. Especially as Noctis.

He knows how to pull every emotion out of his characters, and rare is it for me to discover a voice actor that can literally make me sympathize as well as he has with Noctis. I feel literally everything in his voice. This guy has some serious talent, and I look forward to what he is cast in next.

Yu Otosaka was the first time I've ever heard Ray's voice consistently, even though I've checked out some of his other performances as rather forgettable charas in One Punch Man. I do have to say though, Ray rocked the effing stage as Yu. Nice job. It's really no wonder why he's cast as Noctis in FFXV; cuz he's got the talent to handle a role from a big title.
