Happy birthday, Phil LaMarr

I remember being introduced to him as Hermes on Futurama. Admittingly at first, Hermes seemed to be the boring one of the group; but as the series went on, he got to show more and more characterization and he became one of my favs. To this day, I still consider Lethal Inspection his best episode. His other Futurama roles were good as well like Ethan "Bubblegum" Tate, Preacherbot, Dwight Conrad (even though I somewhat prefer Bumper Robinson), Billionaire Bot, Robot 1-X, and many, many more.

I also enjoyed him as Samurai Jack, Kit Fisto, Bail Organa, Gadon Thek, Dr. Kirk Langstrom, John Stewart, Aquaman, Gambit, JARVIS, Wonder Man, the Sloth Lawyer, and many, many more.

It was also cool seeing him in live-action like Pulp Fiction and Castle.

It was cool meeting Phil LaMarr at the Ottawa Comic Con last year. What a treat that was. I spent a lot of money and time trying to track down a MISB TFA Jazz figure for him to sign but it was worth it getting it signed by him and later taking a photo with Phil made that weekend for me. Phil apparently said he doesn't often get to sign Jazz figures that often so I feel very special having done so.

During that weekend it was while Samurai Jack Season 5 was airing and man it was that a wild ride. Despite the mixed opinions on it as a whole. I'm just glad Samurai Jack actually came back and got itself a conclusion. Phil gave some of the best voice acting in his career in the final season, especially with Jack's inner turmoil and sanity, giving some very raw power and intensity to the role which I felt fit the tone of the new season rather well. It's not a perfect finale but getting that closure was still worth it.

Also congrats to Phil on getting his new animated series Goblins funded through kickstarter the past year. It seems like a really cool show and I hope it succeeds.

It was cool for Phil to reprise Green Lantern John Stewart and Aquaman again for Injustice 2.

I also enjoyed Phil's performances as Marcus Underwood on Milo Murphy's Law, Ricardo's Dad on Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters and his interview on James Arnold Taylor's Clone Wars Conversations was great. I had no idea he initially wasn't cast as Kit Fisto.

And While I'm not a Final Fantasy fan it's pretty cool he came back to voice Ramza Beoulve who he portrayed over a decade ago for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.

I look forward to hearing him voice Firestorm in the upcoming Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: The Flash movie.

Happy Birthday Phil LaMarr!

I can't believe Samurai Jack is coming back this year, I'm very glad it's getting the conclusion is sorely deserved and even more glad Phil LaMarr is coming back, I can't see anyone else pulling off Jack as well as Phil does, plus I really love how out of the box the casting was, it really worked well.

I also finally saw Pulp Fiction for the first time last year and oh man he was great as Marvin. Definitely one of the funniest minor characters in a movie, granted it's funnier because of what happened to the character but still, that scene was friggin hysterical in the darkest way imaginable.

Happy Birthday Phil LaMarr!

Fun Fact: He's the one who got shot in the face in Pulp Fiction.

In the case of his voice acting, he is one of my favorites growing up. I never knew his name at the time but he's been Static, Samurai Jack, Wilt, Ollie Williams, Aquaman, Dracula, Green Lantern, Wonder Man (had no that was him), Bolbi (NEVER would have guessed that was him), Virgil Sharkowski (Again no idea), and Gambit. One things for sure, his range impressive.

Hello Phil, on the off chance that your'e reading this, I just want to say you are one of the greatest voice actors of all time, and everyone on this site adores your work. BY GOD, you have such awesome range!! You can go deep and god-like(like with Jon Stewart and Aquaman), to calm and stoic(Samurai Jack) to just an all around nice guy(Wilt). The accents you can do are incredible(Black Panther, Hermes, Jack, Gambit), the impressions(Will Smith, Michael Jackson, Chris Rock, Redd Foxx), your ability to go really high(Sharkowski) or just play a normal kid(Virgil Hawkins, Dwight Conrad). Seriously dude, your'e one of the few voice actors wich every single one of your roles was great. At worst you can call one good, but you're one of the few VAs that doesn't have at least one role that made me cringe. For those reasons and for more, you are my favorite VA.

I know guys, I'm a suck up. But come on, this guy is awesome.
