tbh I know I wrote a lot more than that (which is why it seems to abruptly cut off), it just may have been edited to be less critical I suppose. I guess I appreciate that; definitely don't want to come off rude as I've often come off.

Anyways if that is Pat, congrats to him on voicing Grodd in Injustice 2.

Also big props on being recently cast as Uvogin in "Hunter x Hunter", it was quite the long 11 month wait after Patrick Seitz remained largely absent in the last 40 episodes until now. Can't wait to hear the rest of his performance in the next couples of episodes, especially during Uvogin's battles against the Shadow Beasts and especially Kurapika.

It was really cool to hear Patrick in Combiner Wars as Devastator, being the only other VA outside of Jon Bailey and Frank Todaro in the series who has had past experiences acting in the franchise. One of the few performances and castings I rather liked in this very mediocre series. He may also be the only VA ever in Transformers history to voice act in both union and non-union Transformers productions.

I also rather liked his performance as Ghetsis in Pokemon Generations, he rather fit this mad tyrant rather well, with a nice smooth deep voice and delivery. Not too far off from how i'd imagine him outside of being a little young sounding.

also congrats on being cast as Uvogin in Hunter X Hunter recently.

Interesting how everybody called it that Patrick Seitz would be voicing Jiren in the English dub of Dragon Ball Super, I mean the Tournament of Power is still a long ways from being dubbed but with his sudden inclusion in Xenoverse 2, I gotta say he shows potiential, granted I feel his voice is a bit too gruff and feels more like a Toppo voice but I can imagine he will smooth it out over time, considering how much smoothing out Sean Schemmel did as Goku Black between the games and the final result we got out of the anime, I think is a perfect fit for the role. Plus with Matthew Mercer voicing Hit, the dub has turned the Hit and Jiren fight into Jotaro vs Dio part 2.

Patrick Seitz's turn as Overlord in Transformers: Titans Returns is one of the better and more interesting performances in the show, though the southern accent is a weird choice for voice, the performance and line delivery is pretty and surprisingly on point to how I imagine Overlord speaking, I think his Dio voice would've been more appropriate but considering the context and the series he's in, he already stands out as being one of the better aspects of an otherwise awful series.

I also enjoyed his performances as Kairi Sisigou in Fate/Apocrypha, Bizzaro in Injustice 2 and Mr. "Father of the Year" Endeavor in My Hero Academia.

Patrick's also a good choice to voice Kadomon Risch in the upcoming Re:Zero dub later this year.

Happy Birthday Patrick Seitz!

Dead center. He has no set size except bigger than you. GET OVER HERE! Happy Birthday, Patrick Seitz! Put simply, he's just staggering. Large Hams, fake Brits, jerks, anti-heroes, guttural growlers, all-around nice guys... His voice alone is distinguishable as it is awesome to hear, and the range he bears is nothing to sneeze at, either.

I've enjoyed Patrick's performances as Scorpion, Ira Gamagoori, Sloth, Bob, Nekomaru Nidai, Uvogin, Isshin Kurosaki, TJ Combo, Ragna the Bloodedge, Germany, Sweet JP, Igor Neuhaus, Dracula, Charles Beams, Franky, Simon Brezhnev, Dio Brando, Laurent, Ghetsis, Senji Kiyomasa/Crow, Silverbolt, Copypaste, Laxus Dreyar, IceDevimon, Franken Stein, Bobby, and Chosokabe Motochika.

The wait is over,

After 40 episodes in the span of 11 months Patrick now finally makes his FIRST FULL appearance in "Hunter x Hunter" as Uvogin. Quite a change of pace if you ask me since this si the first time he's voicing a role originated by Akio Otsuka.
said at 5:58 PM on Tue Mar 7 2017
@DisneyAnimefan1995 Well, a VA & character type arent the same thing, Uvogin is pretty close to Pat's normal range, although Pat's take sounds I would say younger than Akio's (he could possibly add more texture to make it more menacing).

Although with that said, he dubbed over Akio in Valkyria Chronicles.
said at 8:34 PM on Tue Mar 7 2017
@DisneyAnimefan1995 Also (& I dont mean to be rude, but) Akio didnt originate Uvogin, a VA named Eiji Takemoto did.
said at 2:43 PM on Mon Jul 31 2017
@huzaifa_ahmed I'm aware that Akio didn't originate the role, I was ONLY referring to the 2011 series, not the entire series in general

If I had to compare Seitz with any VA, I'd compare him with Fred Tatasciore & Travis Willingham. Travis because of how similar he sounds to him & Tatasciore based off of his big brutish roles. Also he replaced Tatasciore as Magnus from Kid Icarus on Super Smash Bros. Maybe somewhere down the line he might share more roles with Fred. We can only hope.
said at 2:05 AM on Tue Jan 3 2017
@Shaun Ince I could so see him as Megatron or Hulk, honestly. I could also see him as Travis's Thor or something along those lines. Funny enough, Pat has dubbed Guile's JP VA several times, & while I wouldnt them offing Travis, Pat would be a pretty damn good short-term substitute.

Am i the only one surprised that Patrick Seitz hasn't shown up in the 2011 Hunter x Hunter series?
said at 11:25 AM on Wed Oct 19 2016
@DisneyAnimefan1995 Good point. He's in nearly every foreign-dubbed production in LA, so that's weird, considering HxH's massive cast.
said at 12:06 PM on Wed Oct 19 2016
@huzaifa_ahmed I actually thought he would have been cast as either Cherry (applicant #76), Todo, Bendot, Umori, and Gozu during the "Hunter Exam" arc, or better yet Silva Zoldyck.

Even if he wasn't cast as those particular characters mentioned above, I'm still hopeful that he will show up later on during the show's run. Heck, I would imagine him being cast as Franklin or one of the Shadow Beasts once they start dubbing the Phantom Troupe arc.
said at 12:59 AM on Sun Mar 5 2017
@DisneyAnimefan1995 Well after 11 months of waiting he's now officially in Hunter x Hunter as Uvogin can't wait to hear the rest of his performance and the battles against the Shadow Beast and Kurapika.

Happy (albeit late) birthday and (albeit late) St. Patrick's Day Patrick Seitz, the American Scott McNeil and Tomokazu Sugita

Seitz's naturally deep voice nets hum roles such as badasses, anti-heroes, villains and tough guys.

Noteworthy performances include Scorpion, Germany, Ragna the Bloodedge, Dracula, Luke Valentine, Silverbolt, Nyarlathotep, Bass Armstrong, Mondi Zappa, Zomom, Simon Brehznev, Isshin Kurosakk, Keith Shadis, Ira Gamagoori, Lexus Dreayar , JP, Keith Goodman, Arthad Menethil, Soichiro Kuzuki, Assassin/Zayd, Reisi Munakata, IceDevimon,.Senji Kiyomisa, Umehito Nekozawa, Agni, Wolfgang Grimmer, Dhaos, Sloth, Igir Neuhaus, Charles Beams, Kanpachi Zaraki, Franky, Captain David Anderson, Chosikabe Motochika, Kunzite, Ugo and Agil. That's a lot.

Although Seitz got off on a rocky start for ADR directing with Girls Bravo (one of the weaker dubs from the otherwise venerable New Generation Pictures), Seitz showed that he can be a very good ADR director, as shown with Kamichu and Monster, bith if which are considered to be two of the best dubs ever made. I was glad he got to direct the dub of Your Lie in April since he can finally show his ADR directing skills once again. I'm hoping he gets to direct more dubs since, as shown with, Kamichu and Monster, he could even become the next Kevin Seymour.

He really knocked Dio Brando out of the park, capturing his hammy, evil and threatening aspects near-flawlessly, and with a British accent no less, even in a dub that was overall underwhelming. If Stardust Crusaders gets fully dubbed, I would love to see him go to town with Dio.

That being said, I can honestly describe Seitz's voice as Steve Blum meets Crispin Freeman
said at 11:49 PM on Mon May 2 2016
@Domayv I am curious that that you found Seitz comparable to Blum & especially Freeman & Sugita, & very strangely Scott MccNeil.

I was thinking of Corey Burton or Jim Cummings as more of Scott's US counterpart (rough, deeper voices, with TONS of range :)) - I'm not sure if someone with a low voice & so much range EXISTS in dubbing circles.

Patrick Seitz, to me, generally sounds like a less-energetic Travis Willingham.

Steven Blum I am generally confused with, as his voice is not a smooth one, but Crispin is a trained operatic lyric baritone, & Steve isn't deep as Patrick, but definitely heavier than a lyric.

& I think you're right about NGP; they are a great studio that produces many good dubs, & I enjoy their work.

& though I'd prefer a lighter voice for Dio (just to match the Japanese VA), Patrick did, indeed, do wonderful as Dio.

Easily one of my all time favourite dub VA's and for great reasons. He has this awesome deep voice that can work for just about any character hence why I have so many favourites roles from him including JP, Ira Gamagoori, Laxus Dreyar, Sky High, Ragna the Bloodedge, Simon Brezhnev, Kunzite, Isshin Kurosaki, Captain Bravo, Charles Beam, Germany, Sloth, John Titor, Ugo, Shozo Tadokoro, Silverbolt, Soichiro Kuzuki, Franken Stein and Dio Brando.

It also helps that he works back and forth between LA and he does it all, I have no clue but I'm glad he's able to make it work.

His performance as Wolfgang Grimmer in Monster was fantastic.

I also loved his performance as Luke Valentine in Hellsing Ultimate.

His Dio Brando was also one of the better casting choices in the mostly disappointing Jojo dub. I hope when they do Stardust Crusader, Seitz gets to really cut loose and really go over the top and ham it up, much like Takehito Koyasu has done.

And He was also great as Igor Neuhaus and Umehito Nekozawa.

@AntiSabat666 Can you verify this?
said at 2:17 PM on Wed Feb 11 2015
@AntiSabat666 If that was actually the case then explain The Legend of Korra.

Korra had Stephanie Sheh and Richard Epcar in recurring roles and Travis Willingham and Barbara Goodson voice in a few episodes.
said at 2:23 PM on Wed Feb 11 2015
@AntiSabat666 The fact that some LA-based actors do more anime work than prelay work has more to do with those actors not being in a union and choosing to do series that aren't covered by the unions that most LA actors work under. Not that they can't do prelay, but it's just harder for them to get that kind of work without the extra push that unions tend to give

Just for clarification, Naruto is covered by a union, which is why it can get guys like Fred Tatasciore and Steve Blum going by his real name. Stuff like Cowboy Bebop, on the other hand, is non-union, so if any unionized VA wanted to work on it, they'd have to either go uncredited or work under an alias, like Blum did as "David Lucas".

You should probably do research on the subject matter before you go and make such ignorant commentary.

@CatsTuxedo I'm aware of all of this. I don't think anybody knows more about labor unions than I do. HOWEVER, it still doesn't change the fact that MOST modern anime VAs almost solely do anime and even IF they do have SAG cards(or are ficore, which is most of them) still don't get cast in mass western shows. Adding on to the fact that union dubs last year totaled 2, there aren't many dubbed anime that are done union anyway.

Also, remember that Bebop and Big O BOTH upgraded to union later down the line in regards to movie and second season respectively.

@Autovolt A few examples doesn't really disprove my point. The fact is that those who primarily do anime are underrepresented compared to in Japan where voice actors do both domestic and US animation.

@AntiSabat666 Because in Japan, all animated VO is done as ADR. In anime, the animation is done first. The voices are done later using ADR. Obviously dubbing an international cartoon is the same process, and I'm pretty sure games are also dubbed.

The situation is totally different than it is internationally, where pre-lay is the standard method in the animation process.
said at 10:54 AM on Thu Feb 12 2015
@NCZ Exactly, when doing pre-lay work, the sky is the limit.

You have more time to breath, and act physically, not worrying about matching the flaps (Ironically the original Japanese VA's an animators also have characters talking while NOT matching the sync)

When doing pre-play, you talk like an actual person, who has to take time to breath in between words, and go crazy with your vocal cords.

And Patrick Seitz has the potential to let loose as a voice actor without the restrictions of ADR.

@Troodon2 I get the point of what you're saying, but to be blunt I find this viewpoint somewhat condescending. ADR and pre-lay offer their own benefits and each have their own very different challenges. To say that pre-lay is "better" than ADR is a bit insulting to all of the voice actors who have mastered it down to a science.
said at 11:16 AM on Thu Feb 12 2015

Oh no, I don't mean it that way. I'll admit while I favor home made animation over anime, that doesn't mean I think anime and adr's are inferior to western animation and pre-lay voice overs, I'm not a jerk... Well ok I can be a bit of a jerk...
But I'm completely biased against anime.

That's why I like Cowboy Bebop, IGPX, Attack On Titan, and the Miyazaki movies to begin with.

@Troodon2 "That's why I like Cowboy Bebop, IGPX, Attack On Titan, and the Miyazaki movies to begin with."

It's been over a year, but if you dig those, you should check out Ergo Proxy, FMAB, Tekkonkinkreet, Animatrix, the Kon films, The Big O, Golgo 13: Queen Bee, Gurren Lagann, & the Gundam shows (the Ocean-dubbed ones, & the Animaze & NYAV Post ones are REALLY good)

@Troodon2 & I forget Akira & Ghost in the Shell.

& Most of all of those are on Hulu too.

@NCZ I meant to say, I'm NOT biased against anime!

FMAB - Not a big fan I'm afraid.

Tekkonkin - Heard about that, Got Dwight Schultz in it, so I'll give it a watch.

@Troodon2 Golgo 13: Queen Bee has Kojima's only original casting (prior to 5) for Solid Snake (Akio Otsuka) as Duke Golgo...

...& more interestingly, John DiMaggio in the dub.

I'd like to hear John as Solid Snake, too.

@huzaifa_ahmed That I heard of, and might check out.

@Autovolt I know it's been *years*, but, on the matter of Korra, the main reason it had quite a number of dubbing actors is that the showrunners were big fans of several anime, namely Bebop, Champloo, FLCL, GitS, Ghibli films, & Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Richard Epcar even noted that the showrunners loved that he dubbed Batou in GitS, & Steve Blum mentioned the same thing about Spike. I imagine Barbara Goodson's gateway was Naoto in FLCL, & Travis for being Roy Mustang, then.

I reckon he would make a great replacement voice for Broli from DBZ if Vic Mignogna was ever unable to voice Broli.
said at 10:45 PM on Tue May 28 2013
@Ringworm128 You mean Broly?
said at 3:10 AM on Tue Jun 4 2013
@pokemastanumba1 Well technically the correct spelling would be ブロリ Either way is a correct, you could technically also spell it "Brori", "Buloli" or "bloli" I choose "Broli" since he's name is a pun on broccoli where as Funimation chose to romanize his name as "Broly".
said at 11:10 AM on Wed Jun 5 2013
@Ringworm128 It's more than likely just a lack of foresight on the translator's part, though it is worth noting that it hasn't been corrected since, even though a lot of DB-related movies and specials have been dubbed at least a couple times.

I love this guys work. He has had some great roles. Kenpachi and Isshin in Bleach who could not love those characters. I thought he was brilliant as Onishi in Texhnolyze and just to dub such an amazing piece of work must have been a thrill. Rido Kuran was an awesome character and now Crow. He just gets better and better. His script credits are also quite impressive. I particularly like his work on Hell Girl.

Patrick Seitz has been quite impressive this year with his noteworthy performances as Crow from Deadman Wonderland and Herschel from The Sacred Star of Milos. He is bound to get a supporting actor nomination at the next BTVA Awards.
