Was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at 13 years old; the cancer went into remission following chemotherapy. She was diagnosed with leukemia at 16 and was only able to recover following chemotherapy, full-body radiation and a bone marrow transplant. At 27, she received a squamous cell carcinoma on her tongue; the subsequent surgery to remove the cancer cost her both a third of her tongue and her acting career.
