This guy is a seriously talented actor. His range is really great and he has incredible acting skill to go with it, and he really manages to stand out with whatever character he plays.

His Bane in Arkham Origins was absolutely phenomenal in my opinion, I mean he just had such an awesome voice and he nailed the character perfectly. He gave a really stand-out performance there. He also did a really good job as Dojima in Persona 4, giving a pretty natural voice for a middle-aged detective like him, and though Dojima was a secondary character in that game, Blanc really did awesome in the moments that count, particularly those hospital scenes at the climax of the game's story.

His other roles in stuff such as Saints Row IV and Guilty Gear Xrd were also great too, his Slayer was a highlight in GGXRD's rather mediocre dub, and was probably one of the voices I actually liked in that game.

JB Blanc has a very strong range and great acting talent and has really managed to make his performances a highlight of the games and shows he has worked on. He's also a talented voice director too and does great at that. He's a really great VA (and great in live action too) and it's nice to see him getting his share of work in the industry. Wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Happy B-Day Mr. Blanc, I'd say he's definitely the Gary Chalk or Mark Oliver of LA voice overs; and like I said earlier, from his range he's like a mix of John Dimaggio, Nolan North, Brian George, Robin Atkin Downes, Steve Blum, Jim Cummings, Fred Tatasciore, Tim Curry and Mark Hamill rolled into one. (or at least that's how I see it)

I know it's kind hard for some that he's mainly doing work in animation and video games rather than providing dubs for Anime, but never the less he's still getting plenty of work and from what he's given us so far, he is certainly a talented and intelligent man.

A good actor, and even voice director at that.

Cheers JB Blanc.

Happy Birthday JB Blanc!

My top 10 *UPDATED* favourite roles from him are:

1.) Bane (Batman: Arkham Origins/Batman: The Enemy Within)
2.) Roberto (Monster)
3.) Enrico Maxwell (Hellsing Ultimate)
4.) Zinyak (Saint Rows IV)
5.) Saxton Hale (Team Fortress 2)
6.) Wrecker (The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes)
7.) Heimdall (The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes)
8.) Alfred (Beware The Batman)
9.) Alberto Vist (Gundam Unicorn)
10.) The Other (Lego Marvel Avengers)

I'm really glad last year JB Blanc got to become the official voice of Saxton Hale in Team Fortress 2's Jungle Inferno update. From the moment I heard his voice I knew it was JB, and when Blanc had confirmed he was indeed Saxton Hale's VA that was pretty exciting. He absolutely nailed the part and was exactly how I imagined Hale sounding. So spot on, people on different websites thought they got DuroxTheShredder back for the role. I'm pretty glad that a VA that JB Blanc got to be like Nolan North and Ashly Burch and became a part of the series even long after the original game came out, around the 10th anniversary in fact.

I'm also glad that JB Blanc got to reprise Bane again for the Telltale Batman series, he continues to prove he is the definite Bane VA.

Also cool he got to voice Abnegazar and Merlin in Justice League: Dark.

Happy Birthday JB Blanc, the VA that just continues to get better and better with age.

Happy Birthday, JB Blanc! He's demonstrated over the years that he can rack up some very enjoyable roles. El Fuerte is not only one of the better newcomers in the SFIV series, Blanc's performance as the character is also all-around fun. I also liked Blanc as Pakkun, Ryotaro Dojima, Bane, Wonder Yellow, Lynchman, Omega Red, Sajin Komamura, Arturo Plateado, and Alfred Pennyworth. In what was an otherwise average-sounding English dub, JB's take on Slayer in Guilty Gear Xrd is one of the least "in one ear and out the other" kinda portrayals.

Happy Birthday JB Blanc!!

It's amazing that he's been gaining a lot more roles in both Western animation and video game voice work outside of Anime in the last 3-4 years.

@DisneyAnimefan1995 Though it would be nice if he continued with anime dubs. I'm not sure if those recent Street Fighter dub roles were credited, but he mentioned on a podcast that he started out through anime dubs, & it isn't like SF dubs pay THAT much more than anime dubs, & they're also non-union.

Granted, he's pointed out on The Voice Behind that he's union, tho he didn't specify exact status, & I won't further discuss that.

But it would be nice if he was in the occasional dub, like Steve Blum, Crispin Freeman, Liam O'Brien, Yuri Lowenthal, Kari Wahlgren, etc.

If he maybe didn't have the current wherewithal to be union-only...it'd be nice if he did non-union dubs as well - after all, it's not like dubbing companies aren't TRYING to unionize their work, they just lack a lot of the resources.
said at 2:10 PM on Sun Nov 6 2016
@huzaifa_ahmed For what it's worth, he pops up in a couple non-union projects occasionally. He reprised Dojima in late 2014 in P4AU.

It might just be limited to reprisals and not actively searching out new roles.

JB is starting to make bank as a voice director on big-name games too. Mafia III, Shadow of Mordor, XCOM 2, Lego Dimensions, and things like that. And I think he's had some good-sized live-action roles like Breaking Bad and War Dogs. The dude is basically going places.

Looking at this guy now, he's like an amusing concoction of Robin Atkin downes, Steve Blum, Fred Tatasciore, John Dimaggio and Jim Cummings, with just a hint of Mark Hamill, Jason Issacs and Tim Curry
said at 1:52 PM on Tue Jul 5 2016
@Troodon2 Not sure where all those guys on your list come from. He sounds mostly like DiMaggio & Cummings.

Somewhat lighter than Fred Tatasciore, & a lot smoother than Steven Blum.

Happy Birthday JB Blanc, another new favourite VA of mine.

The accents this man can do is extraordinary whether its British, French, Spanish, Russian or American it's always great.

He was the voice that I always wanted Bane to have and by god did he freaking nailed it!

I also like his voices for Zinyak, Deacon Frost, Omega Red, Wrecker, Heimdall, Captain Britain, El Fuerte, Alfred, Enrico Maxwell and Silat.

Though I think my favourite role of his has to be Roberto in Monster.

He is absolutely wicked in that role. Quite possibly one of the most villainous characters he's played in his career.

He was also great as Lynchman, Atsuro Masaki, Alberto Vist, Batroc The Leaper, Mangog and Titus.

Happy Birthday JB Blanc!

@Troodon2 So far he's only had one role in AA, as Mangog.

Unless you're thinking of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Either way, all of his credited characters from both shows are on here.
