"If you have a problem with anything that an actor is doing in a dub, it is not with the actor. Everyone is quick to rip up an actor but you know what, 99 times out of 100 it's usually the director's fault. Blame the director. I say this as a director not as a voice actor."

Happy bday Chris

The best English feeza in my opinion. I won't lie the past year was sad after learning his health issues but the love and support fans are showing him is great and he is luckily getting better

Hopefully he goes through this. Wish him best of luck.

I'm going to have to remember that quote of his from now on (although I will admit that I've used it once for a person who made a voice actor blacklist). And on an unrelated note I hope he recovers.

Happy Birthday Christopher Ayres!

If the rumours are indeed true and they are bringing Freeza back (again), it should be interesting to see especially now that Chris's brother Greg is voicing his alternate universe counterpart Frost. I can only hope these two character face off against each other, making it a pretty interesting fight when Funimation inevitably gets around to dubbing this arc in the next year or so.

If not, Regardless Chris is still the definitive English Freeza voice for now and forever more.

It's a real shame that Chris has been having a lot of health issues as of late, I really hope he recovers soon. It was pretty fortunate he was still able to do most of Freeza's lines in the Resurrection 'F' arc of Super but I really really really hope that Chris Ayres will be well enough in time for when Freeza's returns in the Universe Survival Arc/Tournament of Power. Obviously there's lots of great Freeza moments for Chris to do but also he and Greg Ayres as Frost can finally interact together in the main anime canon which is half the reason why we got Greg as Frost in the first place.

I mean worse case sceneario we have Daman Mills who really does a remarkable job being spot on to Chris's Freeza as he did record for the Resurrection 'F' and and Dragon Ball FighterZ game, so it's not like the role isn't going to be in good hands but I'd still prefer Chris to return, after all his role as Freeza in Kai is a huge reason why I fell in love with the Dragon Ball franchise again.

Please get well soon, and Happy Birthday Christopher Ayres!

We're all rooting for your recovery, not just as Dragon Ball fans but in general.

Happy Birthday, Christopher Ayres! While I recognize him more for his voice directorial work than this acting cred, that's not to say he's a half-bad VA; he and his brother Greg are both rather skilled at their craft in all honesty. My favorite Christopher roles for the time being are Plugman, Corset, Frieza, Jack O'Lantern, Dan Gotanda, and Duke Everlue.

Hope he gets to voice Kei Kurono again for Gantz:O though I read some silly rumor apparently confirmed by Oku himself on twitter that the movie may not be released outside of Japan (legally).
said at 9:57 PM on Sat Aug 27 2016
@Omar_Lopez Nah that's just some silly rumour.

What easily disproves it is the fact that Gantz: O is premiering at the Venice Film Festival before it actually comes out in Japan:

I really like a lot of Chris Ayres voice work. It's a shame he's not getting many big roles ever since he became a full-time ADR Director at Seraphim Digital; though there are a few dubs he directed I like. Maybe if he wasn't so focused on trying to make his brother, Brittney Karbowski and Carli Mosier bigger "anime stars", he'd focus on his own voice-over career every now and then... (yeah I said it, I don't think they're that great and his favoritism is extremely obvious)

Then again, if he wasn't directing fans wouldn't have been introduced to the excellent Genevieve Simmons and Tia Ballard wouldn't be in Little Busters (the first FUNi VA in a Sentai dub)
said at 7:29 PM on Tue Nov 12 2013
@Mr_Ecchi_Man Steven Foster was the original ADR director who discovered Genevieve Simmons and gave her the opportunity to show her acting chops off in No.6, Un-Go, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere & Kamasama Dolls. It wasn't until Bodacious Space Pirates that she started to make the transition from being a regular in Foster's dubs to being a regular in Chris's dubs. In recent months Foster has been casting her less while Chris, Jason Grundy & Janice Williams have been casting her in more of their recent dubs but Foster could easily cast her in upcoming projects if he chooses to. I highly doubt Chris is trying to make Carli, Greg & Britteny bigger anime stars they are already accomplished and well known VA's in their field of work they need no help from him in that area.
said at 8:02 PM on Tue Nov 12 2013
I meant to be specific and say introduced fans to her as Urabe in Mysterious Girlfriend X. Also worth noting that while the public first heard her in a Foster dub it doesn't necessarily mean Ayres didn't discover her instead. The DVD/BD release schedule for dubs isn't always the exact same order as recording the dubs (sometimes a release can be held up by something like approval for coverart and fans would never know). Her first job may or may not have been Majikoi: Oh! Samurai Girls.

As for Carli, Greg, & Brittney yes they are fairly accomplished but spoiling is still spoiling. Even if he didn't cast them as often I'm sure they'd survive but he's definitely looking out for them. And just because an anime dub VA is well known among dub fans doesn't mean they're well known to other voice acting fans (gamers, cartoon lovers)

I guess my point is none of those 3 will ever be A-Listers in my eyes.

I only recently finished watching Gantz and I can't believe I never watched this show before.

Chris Ayres was fantastic as Kei Kurono; who is now one of my favorite anime characters of all time!

I haven't enjoyed watching a dub this much in quite a while.

Once the manga finishes I hope a there's an anime remake/reboot that's eventually licensed and dubbed so Chris can reprise the role.

I also like his work as Dave in Golgo 13 (looking forward to watching the rest when released next year).
