Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Mai Valentine with sound clips and images.
Mai Valentine also known as Kai Kujaku in the Japanese version of the anime was voiced by four different voice actors. A recurring character in the series and best known for her Harpy Lady duel monsters deck.
She was first voiced by Megan Hollingshead for seasons 1 to 3 before she left 4Kids Entertainment.
Mai was then voiced by Erica Schroeder from season 4 onwards.
For the limited Yu-Gi-Oh! uncut DVDs Mai was voiced by Caren Manuel.
In a lesser known English dub by Odex Ltd Mai was voiced by Alison Lester.

EDITOR'S OPINION
Megan Hollingshead best captured the character IMO, and is my favorite voice from this group. Erica Schroeder did a decent job but is my least favorite of this group. Caren Manuel does a pretty good job sounding similar to Megan Hollingshead in some ways and Alison Lester did pretty good too.Jackson_H

yeah the first Mai was best while I didnt mind Erica she made the character seem too depressed and sad all the time she lost her attitude

Megan was best, it kinda sounded like Erica was trying to imitate her, Caren Manuel is doing her impression of rouge the bat, and Alison just doesn't fit

Megan had the perfect mix of pride, dignity, loyalty, and spunk. Caren had waaaaaay too much punk in the mix and didn't show how much dignity Mai's character has. Alison didn't have any of those quilities in her Mai. For some reason Erica's voice didn't play on my computer so I can't judge her, but clearly Megan takes #1 this round.

Megan and Caren sound good in the role, Erica and Alison do not.

Megan was hands down the best. She seemed to have the right voice and right attitude down for Mai. Erica was decent, but I got the impression that she was trying too hard to copy Megan, thus sounding too forced. Caren is probably my least favorite. She sounded too over-the-top like a chain-smoking hooker...not much personality...too much sultry attitude... Alison sounded both forced and flat while not sounding right for the part at all.

Too bad Megan left I remember hearing her replacement and not knowing that she was replaced wondering what happened to Mai's voice.

Wow know we know Caren could have given Rouge a more younger voice but with that sexy tone too....I still think she did an impressive job with Rouge I liked her voice being a bit edgy though I'm gonna have the give this to Megan she sounded more like the character but Caren and Bella are a close second
Maybe people wouldn of changed their minds about her Rouge voice if they heard this but screw it She will always be the best Rouge voice in my eyes :D Hell Bella could even change her voice a bit different too HAHA XD

Megan was for sure the best. i was kind of disappointed in season 4 when i realized her voice changed.

Megan Hollingshead is my pick. She best embodies the character. Erica Schroeder did well as her replacement, bringing her own flair to Mai. Caren Manuel was just alright for me. Alison Lester gave my least favourite performance.

Megan was just awesome as Mai. I Emailed her, and she actually returned it! She is a nice person.
