Voice Compare » Ys » Mayor Edgar
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Mayor Edgar with sound clips and images.
Mayor Edgart is one of the secondary protagonists of the 3rd installment in the Ys Video Game series. Mayor Edgar is a middle aged man whom is the kind mayor of the only town in the kingdom of Felghana which is Redmont as unlike King McGuire he tries to take good care of the people. The Mayor tries to do what he can to go against King McGuire's evil plans as the Mayor hopes that series hero Adol will be the one to stop McGuire. Mayor Edgar took in the orphans Chester and Elena and raised them as his own, like other Ys characters the Mayor's name varies on which English release as he is Grady in the TGCD version of Ys III but he is Edgar in the SNES and PSP versions of that game.

EDITOR'S OPINIONIn this Ys Voice Compare we have a little something for the good mayor of Redmont... EDGAR! We shall begin this with the TGCD version of Ys III with Cliff Harrington doing the voice of the Mayor of Redmont (whom was actually called Grady in this version). Anyways Cliff's voice for Edgar had a somewhat gruff Southern accent which I actually thought was fairly suiting for the role. Cliff's performance as the Mayor was probably one of the better performances in that version of the game (yeah I know that's not saying much) as Cliff's performance did have a good feel of friendliness but authoritative as well. Oh sure Cliff can sound a little flat at time but compared to how certain other characters can be he is a relatively mild offender so in other words Cliff's performance as the Mayor is one of the best performances in the TGCD version of Ys III and is pretty good in general.
Now for the PSP version of Ys III in which Mayor Edgar is voiced by Jamieson Price this time and Jamieson is a rather suitable alternative for the role here. Unlike his TGCD counterpart Jamieson does a older light British accent instead of a Southern one but it still does work for the role pretty well nevertheless. Anyways Jamieson's voice and performance for the role does suit a middle aged gentleman like Edgar as Jamieson's performance can go from kindly father figure to reasonable authority figure pretty well and his performance is a good example of the voice work in the PSP version of Ys III. Overall surprisingly enough I am actually not sure who to go with here as both of these guys did pretty well with the role in their own way.
