Voice Compare » Xenosaga » Margulis
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Margulis with sound clips and images.
Margulis is one of the main re-occurring antagonists of the Xenosaga whom has been around since the first Xenosaga game. Margulis is the commander of the U-TIC Organization whom wields a sword with spiritual-based powers. Margulis' behavior can be easily described as a distinguished nobleman but he is not all that noble as he is very arrogant and is far more concerned with his ambitions than peoples lives (however he is not exactly fond of Albedo's methods as he calls them "perverse"). In the original Xenosaga game he is mainly out for the Y-data hidden in MOMO's subconscious but gets a bigger role in the series ever since Xenosaga II.
EDITOR'S OPINIONToday on the Xenosaga VC section we take a look at the commander of the U-TIC Organization... MARGULIS! In the Xenosaga games Margulis was voiced by Michael McConnohie all throughout the Xenosaga Trilogy. The idea of Michael McConnohie playing the role of an old/middle aged aristocratic antagonist is nothing new in fact its one of the things he has been kind of typecast for but he does it rather well and this is no exception. Michael's voice and performance for the role suits on how Margulis is distinguished and very much a bad guy. While Michael's work as Margulis is only a pretty good example of his work in general his work as Margulis is a pretty good example of the voice work in the Xenosaga game series.
In the English dub of the Xenosaga anime from ADV, Andy McAvin gets to take over the role here. I will admit it did seem a little strange on how Andy seems to be definitely playing the role of Margulis rather differently from Michael lets just say. But while it did seem strange at first Andy's work on the role does work with the role in its own way as it does have a rather stoic and authoritative feel which is not a bad idea on how to play the role of Margulis here. So in short Andy's work as Margulis is a pretty good example of his work and a good example of the voice work in the dub of the anime. Overall neither of these guys are bad but I suppose I will go with Michael McConnohie here a bit more.
