Voice Compare » X-Men » Northstar
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Northstar with sound clips and images.
Northstar is one of the various characters of the X Men franchise whom made his comic book debut in uncanny X-Men #120 in April of 1979. Northstar is a French-Canadian Mutant Superhero from Montreal Quebec whose real name is Jean-Paul Beaubier, while Northstar has been involved with many teams over the years he was originally known as a member of Alpha Flight but is nowadays known as a member of the X-Men. Northstar frequently works with his twin sister Aurora A.K.A Jeanne Marie Beaubier in which Northstar's powers are super-speed and durability, flight and light manipulation. Northstar is also well known as one of the first openly gay characters in an American Comic book.
EDITOR'S OPINIONToday on the X Men VC section we have a little something for this French-Canadian Superhero... NORTHSTAR! We shall begin with the 90's X Men series in which Northstar made occasional appearances and was voiced by Rene Lemiuex. Rene's voice for the role felt very natural for the role as he does the accent right (though its no real surprise since Rene is also French Canadian) but still his voice for the role also sounds suitable youthful as well. While Northstar didn't get a lot of lines in the 90's X Men series Rene's performance for the role was pretty good as it does suit Northstar's persona pretty well and is a pretty good example of the voice work in this series.
Nearly 2 decades later Northstar appeared in the game X Men Destiny and was voiced by Yuri Lowenthal. Yuri's work on the role is a bit of a mixed bag because I admit that Yuri does lose some points with me for not bothering to do the French-Canadian accent for the role (which is slightly strange since he is normally good at dealing with accents heck he did a German accent for Nightcrawler in the game here). But other than that detail at least Yuri's performance for the role is pretty good though as it does have a heroic youthful feel to it which does suit the role rather well. So in other words Yuri Lowenthal's overall work as Northstar was not bad but I do feel that it could've been better. Overall neither one of them are bad for the role but I am going with Rene Lemieux a bit more because it was a bit more natural for the role here.
