Iceman

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Iceman with sound clips and images.
Franchise: X-Men

(Note: Certain sites such as IMDb claim that Ice Man was in a 60's Spider Man series episode called "Cold Storage" but rest assured that is false.)

EDITOR'S OPINION

Alright folks here is a rather large VC for this Icy Cool fellow whom is one of the original members of the X-Men. Though due to how large this VC is I shall keep this review fairly short. The guys whom have played Ice Man over the years are for the most part pretty good though I think I liked Darren Scott and James Arnold Taylor the most here (though like I said most of these guys did well with what each depictions were going with). However I think the weakest one is probably Tom Harvey though, I suppose its not really bad by its own merits but it is a rather odd choice of voice for the role. But still most of these guys did very well for this role here.

After watching a playthrough of Iceman's comic mission in Ultimate Alliance, I now place my vote on JAT. I also enjoyed Yuri and Jason

 1 Shout Out!
Iceman is a character that I've always thought needed a really cool yet cocky sounding voice and I feel Andrew Francis nails this part best.

Andrew Francis is such a natural fit for a role like Iceman. He has such a naturally youthful and cool sounding voice, and while he sounded a bit young here than he usually did, it was due to just having gone through puberty, he was a teen when Evolution was being made but I can totally see him coming back to the role and pulling off an late teen/early adult version of Iceman perfectly. It also helped that Iceman in Evolution for better and for worse was a cocky idiot.

James Arnold Taylor is very good too, he sounds cool and the sarcasm he delivers is hilarious. He needs to reprise more often.

Jason Marsden is also really cool as Iceman. Another great fit.

Chris Cox is a surprisingly great fit for Iceman, he manages to sound different enough from his Hawkeye and Iron Man which is nice.

I'm really impressed with Denis Akiyama's take on Iceman. I'm amazed how youthful he sounds in the role especially compared to his Silver Samurai, Uatu or Kunzite. Definitely a stand out from the 90's X-Men cartoon.

Yuri Lowenthal has the popular vote but I think he's a bit too overrated here, he sounds way too high pitch and kinda whiny sounding for my liking. Still I suppose he works well.

Shawn Ashmore was great in the live-action movies but I don't think his voice really works well as Iceman, though he did a lot better in The SHSS than in the X-Men game.

Frank Welker's Iceman sounds way too much like his Fred for my liking. I just find it distracting but at the time it worked for the character.

Antony Del Rio manages to sound a bit deeper than he usually sounds which is nice, he'd probably work better as an even younger version of Iceman like the Evolution version for instance.

Darren Scott and Adam Bobrow are OK but nothing too special or memorable.

Cal Dodd works for the fitting game he's in but I can't see him working as Iceman in anything else.

Tom Harvey definitely is the least fitting voice here, he sounds way too gruff for a cool cocky guy like Iceman.

In the end I'm going with Andrew Francis.

BONUS: I can totally see Bryce Papenbrook being a great fit for Iceman.

I prefer Jason as Iceman because he sounds calm and cool at the same time.

James is 2nd while Yuri is 3rd.

Daran is pretty good as is Denis.

Shawn was good in the live action movies but not so much voice acting.

Antony, Cal and Chris are all average.

Adam is just bland & forgettable.

Frank was ok but he sounds too much like his Fred.

Andrew is pretty whiney and annoying in my opinion.

Paul isn't Iceman at all.

For older Iceman, I like James Marsden and Dennis Akiyama.

For younger Iceman, JAT for me. Yuri's is good too, but sounds a little too young.

Since some actors are doing younger Bobby, and others are doing the grown up and slightly more mature version, I'll say I like JAT the most for young Bobby, while Darren Scott and James Marsden are tied for my favorite older Iceman.

Why didn't Yuri reprise Iceman in X-men Destiny since he was already in the game?

@SalaComMander JAT is of course another one of the best VAs ever and one of my personal favorites, but there's not much to say about his performance since it was only a few lines.

@dorianstark Frank is (was?) indeed a voice acting legend, but unfortunately he was quite miscast here. More importantly, Wolverine and the X-Men arguably has the best voice acting out of all the Marvel animated series.

@pokemastanumba1 *Is. Plus, it was the 80s, and the quality of voice acting then hasn't exactly aged well.

All of them are pretty darn good but I think James captured the character's essence a bit more than the rest. IMO
