X-Men X-Men

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Beast with sound clips and images.
Franchise: X-Men

Beast is one of the members of the X Men in which in fact he was one of the original members of the X Men team whom has been around in the X Men comics since the first comic back since September of 1963. Beast is Hank McCoy and he originally had a human appearance as a big muscular man with a brutish personality however not too long afterwards Beast is depicted a big muscular man covered in blue fur and had a kinder more intellectual personality which has became the standard over how Beast is portrayed. While in the X Men franchise the term Mutant is a often derogatory term for people whom were born with Super Powers however Beast is much more of a Mutant as he originally had a human appearance but then received his blue ape-like appearance due to the mutation that his body is going through (and his body has recently mutated to have a more feline-like appearance as well). Beast is one of the more consistently depicted characters in the franchise as a kind compassionate intellectual, loves to constantly speak with big words and a fine mix of brains and brawn but there are some things about Beast that do depend on the story we are talking about such as whether if he has accepted his blue-furred appearance or not for example.

Today on the X Men VC section we have a little something for the consummate intellectual strongman... BEAST! Since this is a very large VC I will just simply state that I am not quite sure who to go with here as all of these guys have done very well with the role here as none of them seem bad for the role at all. I mean sure Dee's voice for the role may seem a bit light compared to the others but even still it works for the role nevertheless. Overall I am not sure who to pick here as they all have done well in their own way.

Sticking with Tatasciore, though Pollock, Halder, and David Boat were also good.

Beast is one of my favourite X-Men characters as he falls into the trope we like to call a genius bruiser. A character who is both physically strong and very intelligent at the same time. I believe Beast should have a voice that is wise, intelligent, friendly and also sound well bestial. I believe the one who captures this best is George Buza.

George Buza is fantastic, he has a unique gruff voice that can pull off being an intellectual perfectly. The way he delivers his lines is very strong and passionate. I really love that.

Fred Tatasciore is also a natural fit for Beast, he's a bit smoother sounding and puts a bit more of a focus on the intellectual side but still he gives a excellent performance.

Gregg Berger does a fantastic emulation of Kelsey Grammer's Beast, who I really enjoyed in the role in X-Men: The Last Stand. He sounds like a gruff kindly intellectual which is the character.

Michael Kopsa was a pretty interesting choice to voice Beast. He has a gruffer voice than he usually does for his roles which adds a lot to the role, he pulls off the intellectual aspect really well too.

Richard Portnow has a really gruff voice for Beast and still comes off as very intelligent, very nice. I wish he had another opportunity in the role.

Richard Doyle has a nice older sound to the role. Though its a bit unnerving since he was also Senator Kelly.

David Boat is decent, nothing much else to say.

Ron Halder and Mike Pollock really sound so similar it's really uncanny but with that said they put way too much focus on the intellectual aspect which I think dampens their portrayal of Beast a bit, still they give excellent performances.

The UVA sounds maybe a bit too deep and kinda evil in some parts but still works in a way.

Dee Bradley Baker's Beast it's a good example of his range but it doesn't that natural.

I'm going with George Buza on this one.

BONUS: I'd like to see John DiMaggio as Beast because It'd be a nice change of pace for him, to be play a more intellectual kind of character. I'd also like to see Paul St. Peter, Richard Newman and/or Cole Brown have a whack at Beast.

@Autovolt I also think Jamieson Price would be a good Beast.

On another note...having seen the Marvel anime, I don't think that Hideyuki Tanaka (Otacon) is the best sort of voice for Beast.

Someone like Hiroki Yasumoto, Unsho Ishizuka, or Banjo Ginga would've been a lot better of a fit.

I'd like to see Jim Cummings play Beast!

I agree with the first 3 on the poll. Fred is my favourite, George is 2nd & Michael is 3rd.

The only VA who is bad at voicing Beast is Dee. The voice he's using just doesn't fit.

Other than that, every1 else did a fine job. Hardly any screw ups. At least Marvel is casting one of their characters correctly.

@30Rockefeller I love almost all those ideas.

But ESPECIALLY Lance Henriksen.

But ESPECIALLY Clancy Brown.

But ESPECIALLY Keith David.

But ESPECIALLY Michael McConnohie.

But ESPECIALLY-okay I'll stop now.

The only two I'm not really sure about are Paul Eiding and Ed Asner, I also don't think I've ever heard Kevin Sorbo's work before, otherwise, excellent ideas.

@30Rockefeller Eh...Henriksen, Brown and David might make him sound too evil.

Ron does a much better job than Mike Pollock IMO, who is the weakest next to the SHSO unknown voice.

It's a three way tie between George Buza, Richard Portnow, and Fred Tatasciore for me.

All of them are pretty good and its tough to choose which one is the best. I would have to say Fred is the best because of he sounds intelligent yet relaxed. I have to give special mention to Mike Pollock because he really sounds like he is acting all of Beast's actions.

@Cartoon_fan87 Doubt it, Michael Dorn was not in the game's credits and I kind of doubt that Dorn would appear in something uncredited where everyone else was credited.
