Wonder Woman Wonder Woman

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Giganta with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Wonder Woman

Giganta is a long time foe of Wonder Woman whom appeared in Wonder Woman #9 Volume 1 in the Summer of 1944. Giganta's current alter ego is Dr. Doris Zeul (though her origin story does wildly differ such as if she originally a scientist whom gave herself superpowers or in earlier stories was originally a gorilla whom turned into a human strong-woman.) However Giganta's powers are rather consistent as she can change the size of her body and can become a lot stronger in the process. Giganta's earliest outfit is her leopard print top and skirt but in more recent years is known for wearing highly durable and stretchable tights.

Today on the Wonder Woman VC section we take a look at this size-shifting redhead... GIGANTA! Lets begin shall we?

Ruth Forman- Ruth's voice for the role is pretty good but the quality of her performance is fairly inconsistent, sometimes her delivery is pretty good and at other times it can come off as kind of wooden. So in other words Ruth's work on the show is a decent example of the voice work in the Super Friends shows.

Louise Williams- Louise's voice for the role is decent I suppose, even if it does seem more like a voice for Daphne Blake from Scooby Doo (but then again since both shows came from Hanna Barbera this might be intentional). But to be fair Louise's work is not too bad granted her one line as Giganta is kind of lame but I suppose I can't blame Louise for that.

Jennifer Hale- Jennfer was a great casting choice for the role as her voice and performance for the role felt very natural. While Jennifer does seem to be playing up the "flirty temptress" that Giganta can be her performance does have some sense of strength in it as well. In other words its a pretty good example of Jen's work and a good example of the voice work in the show.

Lana Lesley- The quality of Lana's overall work is really inconsistent as her voice and performance for the role were actually pretty good at first but when Giganta is really starting to shout then Lana's voice for the role becomes really forced and awkward sounding. Its a shame really on how Lana's work at Giganta can go from pretty good to not so good.

Overall I am clearly going with Jennifer Hale here as she delivers the most consistently commendable performance out of all the ladies here.

The only one I like here is Jennifer.

I suppose Lisa Ann Beley would work as Giganta.

And I have to agree with Music Meister that Jennifer's take proves that a light voice can be sexy, but then again, Jennifer always sounds sexy.

To be honest, none of them truly click with me personally.
The traditional Giganta voices feel like generic tough girl with big voices, but Erica and Grey do click with me better than the others.
And at best a mixed bag for me. I can understand the appeal; but while the feminine approach works some of the time, at other times it irritates me ("I don't think this is such a good idea...But I mean I weigh a little heavier than I look" comes off as particularly irritating).

Ruth Forman: He acting is rather wooden and even when it isn't she's still rather generic.

Louise Williams: Her acting is more believable and has more energy to her performance. Shame she got so little cause she is much better than Ruth.

Jennifer Hale: Jennifer does a good job here. I like her lighter flirty voice, I like that it sort of contradicts Giganta size and power. Plus showing that a higher voice can be seductive. While not an amazing performance, compared to the others here, I can at least remember her performance for positive reasons.

Lana Lesley: Just awkward to listen to, I'll leave it at that.

Erica Luttrel: I think Erica can do better but with what she has to work with, she does decent. Could be a little more constant, the first part and second part of the clip sound pretty different but again, she is okay.

April Winchell: For just being a one note villain and for only having a limited amount of screen time, April is entertaining. Her more butch approach works and she delivers her funny lines well.

Grey DeLisle: Basically the same thing I have to say to her I said for April, she does well with what she has to work with.

Hale is really the only one I think stands out so my vote is with her.

1. Jennifer hale love the cute and flirtatious performance she gave to the character

2. Ruth Forman is second her voice gives off a more gruff and menacing which actually fit the character

Side note: Tara Platt, Rachel Robinson, Christine auten, and Laura post would make good choices for Giganta

VC thoughts update

I honestly liked Joan Gerber the most (she played Giganta in one of the SuperFriends: The Lost Episodes shorts). She not only sounded fittingly tough, but she also sounded quite sultry and feminine at the same time.

Second would have to be Erica Luttrell. I really think she's tons of fun and she does fit Giganta quite well.

Ruth Forman is a little bit too macho, but she works well enough. She also added quite a bit of menace into her performance.

Jennifer Hale sounds too light for someone like Giganta. It's pretty much the opposite of Ruth: sounds too sultry, yet lacks toughness and menace. Honestly, she disappointed me, 'cause I know she can do better.

Louise Williams fits a younger Giganta pretty well, but I can't really see her as the traditional version.

Grey DeLisle is pretty cool, but I honestly feel that she and Jennifer would switch roles, 'cause Grey seems to fit traditional Giganta much better.

Lana Lesley and April Winchell are kinda awkward.

Ruth Forman's still tops for me with Lesley runner up.

Honestly, Hale's being her comes off more a metaphor of her presence in the industry than actually being a giantess. Even when creative freedoms are accounted for you can't tell me that that voice can go with that body, especially since they didn't bother pitching her down in larger sizes.

Erica is good, once she plays Giganta in a happy mood I found her fitting. I wish she played a version like Hale's but I can't complain about her performance.

April is okay at a more "butch" performance, she focuses more on the villain side and does well with it. She was also pretty funny so pretty good all around.

Still prefer Hale though
