Winnie the Pooh Winnie the Pooh

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Tigger with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Winnie the Pooh

Tigger is an anthropomorphic tiger who loves bouncing, claiming it is "what Tiggers do best". He is overconfident and egotistical and claims to be the only one of his kind. He claims to like everything, only to find that he does not like honey or anything in Kanga's medicine cabinet.

Jim Cummings, I'm not the biggest fan of him in this role. He does a good job of voice matching Paul, but he really just sounds like himself here. It's not his fault that his voice is as distinct as it is, but it's really distracting to me.

I think will’s rendition sounds like goofy goof mixed Willy the giant.

I'll give Carl the fact he's playing the first voiced incarnation of Tigger (that I know of) so his take is going to be very different then what we're used to...with that said this performance is so unintentionally hilarious with how bizarre his delivery is. His Tigger almost sounds like he's kind of drunk which again, leads to some unintentionally funny lines.

Paul is the definitive Tigger to me. The rasp he has is very distinct, the energy he had in the role, even when he was in his 70s is just amazing to listen to, and he adds so much charm and fun to the role. Also Paul is one of those people where I felt like his performance honestly got better the older he got, I don't know, when that rasp started getting more distinct in his voice, it made the performance more fun to me. It's one of those legacy voices that I can't picture Tigger not having it's that good.

Will does an okay job at trying to replicate Paul, though I do think it is a little too light. It's not bad, just nothing all that amazing.

Jim is an interesting case for me. He does a good job at matching the performance of Paul, and he's done a very good job in the role. There's always been one problem I've had with the performance though, and that's the fact that I can tell it's Jim. Paul got so into the role and it was a bit more of a unique show of range at the time he had done it, my problem with Jim is that, he has to sound as much like Paul as possible, and something about the performance just always made me think it never sounded right in comparison. It's a great performance, that's just always been something that has made me feel weird about it.

1. Paul Winchell
2. Jim Cummings
3. Will Ryan
4. Carl Harms

I am curious as to who is going to be playing Tigger in that Christopher Robin movie their making (if Alan Tudyk isn't actually playing since it doesn't seem to be confirmed.)

@kando123 I really hope it's Alan Tudyk. Based on his recent performances in Disney things, I feel like he would be the perfect successor to Paul here.

Paul Winchell will always be the one and only Tigger. Jim Cummings is a good replacement, and he does a good job doing Pooh as well. Paul Winchell is Tigger! So Paul Winchell is number one with Jim Cummings close behind.

Oh man this was a really tough vote but for now, I'm gonna go with Jim Cummings. I just love how he took Winchell's performance and not only perfectly matched it but also made it his own. He made it more goofy and I also love the added lisp. Not to mention he gave Tigger more depth, especially in The Tigger Movie.

That doesn't mean Paul Winchell doesn't do a fantastic job also. He was the original and deserves credit for it. In fact he was the most memorable Tigger. I might change my vote but for now I prefer Jim.

Much like Pooh, I haven't got anything to say on the other two VAs.

1. Paul Winchell:

He established Tigger's iconic voice, and made it sound endearing, energetic, and also charming all at the same time.

2. Jim Cummings:

The closest of the others to replicating Paul Winchell's performance, and for the most part, he does a pretty good job of it, but he can get a bit too lisp-y at times and isn't as consistent as Paul Winchell was.

3. Will Ryan:

Decent, but not only does his performance get a bit lisp-y at times, but can also be a bit nasally as well.

4. Carl Harms:

Too gruff and deep in pitch, and hard on the ears compared to the others, though I suppose he's alright for the medium in which he portrayed Tigger.

Paul Winchell is Tigger. We are still discussing this? He has a charm and slight bit of class that I love. He plays Tigger as very confident, but very vulnerable to.
Jim does a great job, but I prefer Paul because I think Jim's lisp is too prominent. Will is decent, but he can't hold a candle to Paul and Jim.

Paul Winchell was amazing as Tigger. It was such a nice change of pace from his usual typecast as villains like Gargamel or Dick Dastardly. He brought so much energy and joy to the role, those growls he does are pretty awesome too.

Jim Cummings legitimately was the best person to take over from Paul as Tigger. I mean he's a bit more recognizable sounding but at the same time he does emulate's Paul's performance and at the same time manages to make Tigger his own character.

Will Ryan is decent as Tigger though he sounds a bit more like Mr. Dink with the lisp of Sylvester The Cat. If he had the chance to reprise the role in something else that wasn't Welcome to Pooh Corner, he could maybe do Tigger a lot better.

Carl Harms is one of the better voices in Shirley Temple's Storybrook but it's honestly really not that great IMO.

My vote goes to Paul Winchell, may he rest in peace.

Paul and Jim are both great, but I'm giving it to Paul. Tigger just wouldn't have been Tigger without his vigorous performance. It stinks that Disney ditched him as Tigger, as great of a job as Jim does, but I'm glad he got to do the voice of Tigger one last time for the Pooh attraction at Disney World.

Sorry, Will, but your Tigger is kind of weak...

I suppose I'll vote Winchell first since he was the original, but Jim Cummings is excellent as well. To this day, I can't tell which one is voicing him in specific episodes of the New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (both voiced him in certain ones). Will Ryan is kind of OK, but could be better. Harms is just awful in my opinion.

I've been Curious as to how Jim Cummings was hired to voice Tigger alongside Pooh Bear (he can copy more voices than Holloway has). But Paul Winchell did return for some occasions, like being the only one with the Featurettes in Winnie the Pooh's Grand Adventure.

Compared to Rabbit and Eeyore, Carl doesn't sound as bad.

I know most people hate Will I thought he was okay, better than Hal Smith as Pooh, Ron Gans Eeyore and the super squeaky Piglet on the same show

Jim started out very annoying but he got better but I'm keeping Paul as my vote

1 Paul
2 Jim
3 Will
4 Carl

@HienFan Apparently the guy who voiced super squeaky Piglet was Will's comedy/music parter. His name is Phil Baron just in case you were wondering.

Since Carl predates Disney's there was nothing memorable, and he had nothing to really go with. It's ok, sounds a bit energetic but Disney did it better a few years later.

I will give credit to Jim that he sounds better than Paul, once Paul got really scratchy in the late 80s

Jim Cummings- AWESOME!!! He has the perfect natural voice for this, and has the most personality in the role than any other voice actor.

Paul Winchell- The original voice actor... though he's not as, well, kid-friendly, he still suits the role.

Will Ryan- I don't get it.

Paul Winchell owned the role and I don't think he can ever really be topped. Jim Cummings, however, does an excellent job filling in for him after his retirement and death. Will Ryan...sounds like Mr. Dink from "Doug", not Tigger.

Oh tough 1 really cause I like Jim & Paul really cause they are both amazing. Well how about we look at it in best performance really.

Paul was really good in Winnie the Pooh & Tigger too cause it was like all about Tigger as was Jim's best film as Tigger in The Tigger Movie which makes both actors just big stars really.

So in the end i'm going 2 go with Jim as I've heard him so many times as Tigger. Jim voiced Tigger in seasons 3 & 4 of TNAOWTP and then returned in 1996 for Boo to You Too and finally voiced Tigger full time since the late 1999. Paul however retired from voice acting in early 1999 and died the day before Piglet actor John Fiedler in 2005 which I thought was insane.

Will however just isn't Tigger unlike the other 2.

Winchell is of course the best, but Cummings is a close second. Both of them bring the character to life in a great way. Ryan is pretty good, too, but still isn't as good as the first two. Once again, I like all of them!

wow Jim Cummings does Tigger too as well as Pooh? wow. I go with cummings. He voiced Tigger for about the last decade right? That is probably I prefer her most as I am so young. Paul Winchell is great though too!
said at 6:21 AM on Tue Jun 10 2014
@dreamer Jim Cummings first began voicing Tigger regularly around 1990, in the later episodes of "The New Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh." It was cheaper for Disney to have him as Tigger at the time instead of Paul Winchell, who they usually reserved for special projects (like "Pooh's Grand Adventure" and some of the holiday specials).Paul Winchell was going to voice him in "The Tigger Movie," but he got too old to do the voice really well, so they went with Cummings.

I gotta go with my dad on this one: Winchell was obviously the best Tigger. The energy and the way he seemed to get ahead of himself was just PRICELESS.

Cummings doesn't do bad, but you CAN kinda tell that it's him if you've heard a lot of his roles.

Ryan I won't listen to for fear of getting something utterly dreadful...

@MatthewC17 I see, well no matter what winchell will always be the best tigger! But I agree that he retired coz he was too old,but what I can't stand is that Winchell didn't voice tigger between 1991-97 So,I always feel that he has some unfinished business.
