Winnie the Pooh Winnie the Pooh

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Eeyore with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Winnie the Pooh

Eeyore is a grey donkey that is always losing his tail. He is best friends with Winnie the Pooh. He is famous for his rather gloomy, depressed and pessimistic outlook on pretty much every situation that the gang encounter.

This one is fairly easy for me.  When I think of Eeyore I think of the Peter Cullen version.  To me Cullen captured that gloomy voice absolutely perfectly.  Gregg Berger did a top notch imitation of Cullen and is probably my second favorite.  Ralph Wright the original should get props though for setting the tone for all of the other voice actors and I do say his take has a special charm to it. I have to say I am rather disappointed with the new voice of Eeyore who will make his debut later this year. Feinberg and Gans seem to be missing the mark and are easily the two worst.

1st: Cullen, 2nd: Berger, 3rd: Wright, 4th: Luckey, 5th: Feinberg, 6th: Gans

Ralph Wright's at the top since he is the original one of course though Peter Cullen's pretty great.

Enjoyed Gregg Berger's performance too, channeling Cullen's take while making it his own.

Bud Luckey's good but can sound a bit too old at times, Ron Gans sounds croaky and slow and Bill Baird is essentially Eeyore if he had beaten his depression and was now happy go lucky... too happy go lucky at that.

Excluding Bil Baird and Ron Gans, here's my rankings on Eeyore's voices:

5. Ron Feinberg - The quality of the clip's not helping much but he doesn't sound too memorable or endearing as Eeyore.

4. Gregg Berger - Same issue as Ron except better quality and he at least tries, it just doesn't sound too natural.

3. Peter Cullen - Yeah, Peter's not my favourite but he still does a great job. I just think the way he voices Eeyore makes him sound a little aggressive in some areas but that's probably just me. He still captures the character right though.

2. Bud Luckey - I really like this voice for Eeyore. A little gruff but he totally captures the gloomy type of personality the character has and sounds more donkey-like.

1. Ralph Wright - Ah, the original and the one who had the perfect blend of a gloomy tone and donkey-like voice. His Eeyore is just the most lovable and most endearing. He practically is Eeyore, at least in my opinion!

1 Ralph wright:
Aww the original.
2 Peter Cullen:
Sounds very close to his Optimus prime but still good.
3 Ron feignberg:
sounds to happy for eeyore.
4 bud lucky:
Sounds too old and gruff.
5 Greg Bergger:
Eeyore should not be southern.
6 Ron gans:
sounds like Kevin Michael Richardson.

 2 Shout Outs!
1. Ralph Wright:

He created the distinctive voice Eeyore's famous for having, so needless to say, I find that he was excellent in the role. He sounded appropriately glum and in the dumps, but was also able to make Eeyore seem really endearing at the same time.

2. Peter Cullen:

His performance seemed like it was inspired by Ralph Wright's, yet is a bit lower pitched, but not enough to really detract from the take- he's pretty great, though isn't quite as endearing as Ralph Wright could be.

3. Gregg Berger:

He's pretty good in the role- channeling a lot of Peter Cullen's performance, while making the role his own.

4. Bud Luckey

He sounds a bit too old in the part, and flat at times. He's okay, though, at least he gets the character's gloomy nature down well in his acting.

5. Ron Feinberg

His voice is a bit too low pitched and deep to me, despite having the right inflection in his acting.

6. Ron Gans

He's a bit too croaky, and sounds too slow at times.

7. Bill Baird

Something's really off about his performance. It feels like he's trying to sound like he's glum, but he ends up sounding upbeat and goofy instead.

1. Peter Cullen - He is Eeyore to me. I love the raspiness and the friendliness even if he is gloomy like Eeyore should be.
2. Ralph Wright - I have a lot of respect for him in originating the role and he makes Eeyore very lovable.
3. Greg Berger - He does a pretty good job, I wouldn't mind if he voiced Eeyore at some point in the future.
4. Bud Luckey - Decent job, but he does sound a bit too old for my tastes.
5. Ron Feinberg - Just kinda eh.
6. Ron Gans - The voice sounds too dumb to be Eeyore.
7. Bill Baird - Just no thank you. Too upbeat sounding.

Peter Cullen IS Eeyore... far MORE so than Optimus Prime IMO. It still blows my mind that Optimus Prime and Eeyore are both voiced by the same man. I mean both Winnie the Pooh and Transformers were my childhood so that is probably the most fitting thing ever. Peter's Eeyore really doesn't make me think of Optimus at all. He managed to make both of these characters sound different enough which is nice and of course Peter nails the chronically depressed and pessimistic aspects of his character perfectly.

Gregg Berger is actually going to be my runner up here. Would you imagine that Grimlock himself filled in for Optimus Prime as Eeyore and he does actually do a really good emulation of Cullen's performance while still making the character his own. If anyone had to take over from Cullen from here on out, it should be Berger IMO.

Ralph Wright is my third favourite as he was the one to set the standard for how Eeyore is to sound and act like.

Ron Feinberg has a bit of a strange delivery in his speaking but otherwise his voice does capture his melancholic personality rather well.

Bud Luckey I never could get into the role. The moment it was announced Peter Cullen wasn't Eeyore anymore, I decided I had no interest in seeing the 2011 movie. Admittedly Bud isn't bad by any means but his take sounds too old and gruff. I guess it works in a way but he lacks the charm that Cullen and the others had.

Ron Gans sounds way too deep and dumb sounding for Eeyore.

Bil Baird's take is pathetic that's what it is. Honestly he sounds way too upbeat in his delivery for Eeyore so basically they didn't get the character at all.

My vote goes to Peter Cullen.

Peter Cullen: they should have never replace him by the way. Eeyore is not even half as cute without him

Some of them did a great job, but my vote goes to Peter Culen. Because I've been hearing his voice growing up when i was young, and I'm use too it. Peter gets my vote!

I think the best are Peter Cullen, Bud Luckey, Gregg Berger, and Ralph Wright. Ron Feinberg and Ron Gans are actually pretty okay as well, but Bill Baird is definitely the worst.

Peter Cullen is the Eeyore that I'm the most used to. Bud Luckey's in second place, with Ralph Wright and Gregg Berger tied for third.

I know I am commenting a lot on this, but I wish to give an updated opinion.

1 Ralph Wright
I loved Wright's take. He was heartwarming.
2 Peter Cullen
Basically an updated Wright. Love it too.
3 Ron Feinberg
Decent casting choice, and worked in the special.
4 Gregg Berger
A great imitation of Cullen.
5 Bud Luckey
Eh. That music in the back is depressing too.
6 Ron Gans
7 Bil Baird.
Didn't really work.

I think the Pixar Animator did Eeyore as Peter Cullen was unavailable, too busy doing Optimumus Prime. He makes Eeyore sound older, being believed that he's the Oldest Member in the Group.

Peter Cullen is really good in the role and he's the voice I associate with Eeyore.

Gregg Berger is also very good and so is Ralph Wright. Ron Feinberg is alright and although the clip of Bud Lucky is very short, he seems good, too.

The other two nope.

The charm of Eeyore is that he is just so down you can't help but feel bad for him and while playing Eeyore in a more sarcastic sort of way might seem good on paper, he kinda comes off as a jerk because of it so its hard to feel bad for him.
Cullen just nails the role

@pete Fair point but I refuse to change my opinion with 1 exception, he gets some respect for being the 1st voice of Eeyore.

@Ross123 Doesn't really stop that really generic voice even if he's the first even if he had no material beforehand, congrats Bill, now I can't tell the difference with Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore on that show
said at 10:16 AM on Thu Apr 2 2015
@HienFan Just because I gave a VA my respect doesn't always necessarily mean I like their voice for the character they are voicing.

Bill's the weakest of the bunch. And I said my opinion on him is still pretty much the same.

Have to give it to Peter Cullen hes is simply the voice of Eeyore i grew up with.

That said Ralph Wrights vocie still holds up and Gregg Berger was suprisingly good.

Ron Feinberg, ugh,he wasnt even trying to sound mody or droning.

Bud Luckey ,sorry but ther just something about his voice that doesnt sit well with me,probably because i find it to be to old and gravelly

Ron Gans, what the hell?I cant be the only one who think that he soundss like some kind of troll or demon, but then again look at his picture

Disney canned Peter from doing Eeyore again. Why? He was the best at the voice out of every1. I hope Disney regret it & I think what they did was not fair & wrong. Personally I believe that voice actors should only be replaced when they want 2 leave, have other commitments or when they die.

1. Peter Cullen - The Eeyore I most remember from my childhood. He's just perfect.
2. Ralph Wright - The original voice and the one the rest aspire to imitate.
3. Bud Luckey - Perfect casting. He's actually probably the most similar to Ralph Wright's voice!
4. Gregg Berger - He never worked that well for me. The voice was a bit too light.
5. Ron Feinberg - Decent but forgettable.
6. Ron Gans - He sounds scary! Just like the actor's picture!

Peter is the Eeyore I grew up with so he's my fav pretty much although Gregg is a close 2nd. Yeah the reason why that is is because he sounds so much like Peter cause I could never tell the difference between the 2 but I learned Gregg does all the video games (excluding Piglet's Big Game) so with that info it makes it easier 2 identify them both.

Ralph voiced Eeyore in the originals and did a brilliant job.

Ron F only did him once and wasn't too bad.

Ron G was not the best in fact my least favourite out of all the voices for Eeyore.

Bud did the 2011 movie and was pretty good, I hope 2 see more of him in the future if Peter doesn't return that is.

The only reason Peter Cullen wasn't in Kingdom Hearts 2 or the new film is because he was busy with Transformers both times. There's not much of Bud Luckley's clip to judge him but I don't know why Disney didn't just get Gregg Berger to do the voice since he can do the best impression.

@MatthewC17 And he also voiced Eeyore in a few of the "Mini Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" shorts before they decided to stop redubbing them.
