EDITOR'S OPINIONWell folks we'll be starting off Voltron's VC category with Princess Allura's father the late King Alfor (which needless to say is why both voices have reverberating voice effects applied to them).
In the original series' English dub he was voiced by voice actor Peter Cullen. In which while not as deep as his Optimus Prime voice (which is something he saved for when he did the narration for the show) it maybe his Coran voice only a little bit deeper but it still works. Peter did give Alfor a nice regal yet fatherly tone that did suit the role well.
In Voltron the 3rd Dimension he was voiced by Tim Curry whom pretty much did something like his Lotor voice but only friendlier and a little bit older. (Which is one of the reasons why I kind of have mixed feelings about Tim Curry voicing Lotor but that's for a future VC.) But still like Peter Cullen, Tim also gave Alfor a nice regal and fatherly tone and performance as well that was by all means suitable. While King Alfor only appeared briefly in both series' so both actors didn't get the chance to do the role more often.
But while neither performance is the best example of both actor's careers and that their voices had little differences to one of their other roles in their respective shows both of these actors did do a suitable job for King Alfor.
(Update: Sam Vincent took over the role in Voltron Force and its a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand Sam's highly high voice did seem a bit jarring at first considering on how Alfor generally had a lower voice in the past. But to be fair Sam's performance had a good regal, kindly yet authoritative feel to it. So in other words while I still do prefer Peter & Tim more but Sam does make a pretty good younger Alfor though.)
