EDITOR'S OPINION

Ah yes well folks another day another start to a VC section and this time it shall be for the rather obscure comedic anime "Ultimate Teacher" namely with the main antagonist Ganbachi Chabane.

In the European/Manga Entertainment dub he was voiced by the late Marc Smith (whom you might remember in the mid-70's TV series Space 1999). Marc's voice for Ganbachi is not bad, it is fairly low which is suiting for a large man like Ganbachi but it actually doesn't seem that odd. But to be fair Marc's performance for Ganbachi was indeed above average as he does have a good energetic feel which is quite necessary for an over-the-top role like this and is one of the better performances in the UK dub.

In the US dub (with Canadian VA talent) Ocean Group VA Scott McNeil voices this role. Yes like I have said before I am a big fan of Scott McNeil so I am probably a bit biased lets just say. However Scott McNeil is fairly well known for doing great over the top performances and this is no exception. While Scott does well with Ganbachi's occasional maniacal laughter I did like on how he also makes Ganbachi kind of menacing when he normally speaks, but still Scott's performance for Ganbachi was very fitting and of course easily one of the US dub's best performances.

Overall both are good but yes once again I do definitely prefer Scott McNeil this time around. Yeah I know, big surprise huh?
