Voice Compare » Transformers » Superion

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Superion with sound clips and images.
Superion is a colossal gestalt created by the formation of all five Aerialbots. He is very strong but single-minded; the only things he's motivated to do are the protection of humans and destruction of Decepticons.

EDITOR'S OPINION

Frank Welker's one of my favourite VAs, but this is easily his weakest Transformers performance. Since he only said about two lines as the character, however, you can't hate on the voice too much. I'm going to give this one to Ed Gilbert, with Paul Dobson not too far behind.

I think I'll go with Jamieson Price as he sounds the booming and heroic.

Paul Dobson is in second place, he's a lot lighter sounding but I still feel he's very heroic in the role, plus his voice is basically a robot version of Graham Aker from Gundam 00.

Ed Gilbert sounds too deep and gruff and Frank Welker....umm that's not Sludge, this is Superion.

BONUS: I think Cam Clarke doing his Vector or Dave Mallow doing his Angemon would be fantastic as Superion.

1) Ed Gilbert: Really sounds like a powerful yet noble warrior. I really loved Gilbert's Superion, he had the presence, the heroic sound and the intensity needed for the character.

2) Jamieson Price: He does a pretty good job in doing his own take on Superion. I wish it was gruffer, but it's still good.

3) Frank Welker: Serviceable, but I don't think it would work if it was his regular voice. He just lacks the presence that Superion should have.

4) Paul Dobson: Sounds pretty good for his version, but like Welker, he doesn't have too much presence.

None of them really stand out to me, but I guess I'll go odd man out and go with Jamieson Price.

Ed Gilbert sounds cool here so I'm going with him. Man, Frank Welker sounds bad. A weird voice for a giant combiner. Paul Dobson sounds alright, but nothing really special to me.

Going for Ed Gilbert here, never before did I think Baloo would fit a transformer so well, but here he is, doing a rich deep voice for Superion, gotta love it.

I agree with NCZ, normally I love Frank Welker, but this is really a surprisingly weak performance from him, especially for a COLOSSAL gestalt like Superion. He makes him sound tiny and...kinda like a weasel. Which is weird since I'm pretty sure he can do deep voices (Megatron from Transformers: Prime, anyone?)

Paul Dobson's sort of in the same boat as Frank Welker here, though for entirely different reasons altogether, he doesn't make him sound like a wimp, but it is kind of a cheesy and unremarkable, even generic, which is a shame because Paul Dobson, much like Frank Welker is one of my favourite VAs.

Going for Ed here. Sorry Frank and Paul.
