EDITOR'S OPINIONWell alright first off I shall warn you this is going to be another one of those "which version of this character do you prefer" kind of deals here so I just thought I warn you all now.
Anyways in the original G1 series he is one of the Constructicons whom was voiced by the late great Don Messick. As admirable as the late great Don Messick is while he normally had a good vocal range, his work as Scavenger is not a good example of that. Seriously it was a little too easy to tell that Scavenger has the same VA as the likes of Ratchet and Gears. Granted this isn't the only case in the original G1 series where a character sounds a little too much like the other characters that their respective VA has voiced but still. Though in Don's defense his performance did fairly suit on how Scavenger is not exactly the bravest Constructicon around. So basically its not a really bad performance but the late Don Messick has done better.
(Though in all fairness while the Constructicons had a decent amount of screen-time they are mainly remembered as the first combiner team whom can form the first gestalt Devastator.)
In Transformers Armada Scavenger had a bit more memorable role as a Cybertronian Mercenary whom seems rather Chaotic Neutral whom was voiced by Ocean Group VA Ward Perry. While I admit I did notice on how his Scavenger voice did sound rather similar to his Geese Howard voice but it still does work in a way. Ward's performance did suit Armada Scavenger by giving him a Brutish Tough guy voice that didn't sound too "dumb muscle" and it also worked on how Scavenger can go from having quite a sense of humor to being deadly serious.
Overall neither performance is all that particularly bad but I am going with Ward Perry a bit more here to be honest.
