Voice Compare » Transformers » Rumble

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Rumble with sound clips and images.
Rumble was one of the original Decepticons from the first Transformer toy assortment. Though little, he was feisty and could shake the ground by turning his arms into piledrivers, hence the name. He was identical to his twin brother Frenzy in terms of build, abilities, and even voice, but in terms of colour, they were different; Frenzy was blue and Rumble was red. Upon their transition to TV, their colours were reversed by some unknown error. It's best not to bring this up in a Transformers community.

Time for another Transformers voice compare! Right after his brother, Frenzy, we've got Rumble. In the first Transformers show, you should know the story about the twins' colours above. Anyway, both of them were voiced by the VA legend Frank Welker. The voice he used for both of them was practically the same, but it was still a great voice nonetheless, giving them personality and charm.

In Transformers: War for Cybertron, the Decepticon brothers return, once again working for Soundwave. Voiced by Keith Silverstein, this (blue) incarnation of Rumble sounds a bit "excited" or happy. It's a good performance, but Rumble didn't sound aggressive enough. In the end, I think Frank Welker emerges victorious.

Stupid question: why aren't Rumbe and Frenzy voiced by the guy voice actor in Devastation?

Either wat, Scott Whyte did good, though I'm sticking with Keith Silverstein.

@Anicomicgeek Nonsense, ACG. There is nothing stupid about your question.

The answer to that is the fact that the actors in this game seem to get a maximum of three roles. Whyte was already playing Skywarp and Starscream, so Rumble is his third role. Swindle plays Wheeljack, an Insecticon and Frenzy, so there he got three roles. I don't know why, but it may have been budget related.

@Starscreamsfan I'm fairly certain there's a union regulation about having to pay an actor extra if they play more than three characters.

@Nightmare Crusher That seems possible.

@Anicomicgeek Better question is why didn't reprise, if he was already doing Meg's and Soundwavem assume he reprised a third role which prevented him from doing more.

@pete It is weird that Frank only played two characters. The only thing I can think of is that he was just busy. Or, and this is far more unlikely, he did Ravage's growls and was uncredited for them.

@Nightmare Crusher

I should've worded my question better. I didn't mean, "Why isn't Frank Welker reprising the role?" What I meant was, "Why isn't Scott Whyte voicing Frenzy or Christopher Swnidle voicing Rumble?"

@Anicomicgeek Same answer still works though. Scott and Chris already had two other characters to play.

@Nightmare Crusher

True, but it's still weird not to hear the two share a voice actor, though.

 1 Shout Out!
1) Frank Welker: He's just hilarious!!!! I always got a crack of Rumble's one liners, and Welker did a great job in bringing the little punk to life. Another fun performance from this legend of a voice performer.

2) Scott Whyte: HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!!! Whyte is really nailing it everytime. His Rumble has a lot of energy and it's also a lot of fun. It's really awesome that he kinda mixes his Starscream and Skywarp voices because it really shows how imaginative Whyte can be. Another standout from this game.

3) Keith Silverstein: Pretty cool, but man, he really needs more material.

Honestly I think I like Scott the most here. He finds a good balance between the other two voices.

Probably the only minor compare I'm gonna comment on, but I say tie, Keith matches Frank so perfectly, but the clip sadly lacks the energy FRank has.

@pete Maybe it's just the material here but sounds lacks something the others have IMO, just sounds like an more impression that's it.

Gotta love people voting for actors doing impressions of the originators. (SARCASM)

@CynixBox Even though I try to sound as authentic to the originators too for my G1 parodies on YT.

@CynixBox I know, right? It's so silly for people to vote for who they view as the best voice, even if their favourite is just an impression of a previously-used voice!

Don't they know that if their favourite is an impression, they should just vote for the original anyway?

If Rumble ever appears in The Film Series, He should look a lot like Frenzy, But black and I think Tom Kenny should voice.

I wonder of Yuri Lowenthal would make a good Rumble?

@Finister2 I think Yuri would make an excellent Rumble. What do you think of Josh Keaton as the character?

Stunned by the results. Oof. Didn't think Frank could possibly lose this one. :P

Both are good, but I think I'm gonna have to go with Keith Silverstein for this Rumble.
