EDITOR'S OPINIONAlright folks here is another VC for one of the Autobots and this time its Landmine and while the concept of a character by the name of Landmine has been around since 1988, there hasn't been a character of that name who didn't have a speaking role until the somewhat infamous Unicron Trilogy. In which first of all Landmine was voiced by Ward Perry in Transformers Energon. And I will admit to you now that this Landmine is a rather secondary role as he was pretty much one of Rodimus' loyal soldiers and not much else granted his role wasn't REALLY small but still. However Ward does pretty well with what little he does a nice moderate voice and which it has a rather firm serious soldier-like tone which does suit the role well. Not one of the best examples of Ward's work but a pretty good example nevertheless.
In Transformers Cybertron, Landmine is a somewhat different character even though he is still very much a loyal Autobot Soldier and this time he is voiced by Paul Dobson. This version of Landmine is somewhat different to his Energon counterpart as he is a Loyal Autobot soldier (though this time for Optimus Prime) he is often known as "The Big Guy whom is ready for battle and hates getting sidelined due to injuries and is a bit of a softie around children". While not as much as his lower smooth voices or his rather high nasally voices Paul Dobson does have a bit of a history with the "Big Guy" character archetype and while I wouldn't consider this to be one of his best performances in general this is probably one of his better "Big Guy" performances. Paul Dobson's voice for Landmine felt pretty natural right from the start and his performance certainly does suit Landmine's persona without feeling the least bit overdone (oh yes and Cybertron Landmine had a bigger role than his Energon counterpart which kind of helps here). Overall while neither performance is the one of the best things to come out of their respective VA's careers they both did pretty well but I believe I will be going with Paul Dobson this time around.
