EDITOR'S OPINION
Alpha Trion, one of the only Cybertronians in the franchise to show signs of aging.Anyways in the original series he was originally voiced by VA John Stephenson. Our first AT voice here was very much an elderly voice (in which even back then Stephenson is very much an elderly man) while this AT voice wasn't in the series a lot it does suit AT's wise old persona quite well.
In the original series episode "War Dawn" Corey Burton was voicing Alpha Trion, though I am not quite sure how to classify his age since Corey's Alpha voice does strongly suggest young but the only difference in Alpha's looks is that he has a shorter grey mustache. Corey Burton's acting for the performance is not bad but it sounded a little too much like his Spike voice to be honest.
In the Season 3 episode "Forever is a long time coming" we definitely see him as a younger bot whom back then went by the name A3 in which he was voiced by the late Tony Pope. And after getting to see that episode again recently I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how cool Tony made Young Alpha Trion or shall I say A3 sound by giving him a determined manly voice that was an interested fit for Alpha's younger self.
Alpha didn't really have a speaking role again until Transformers Animated Season 3 and had a relatively small role in a few episodes in which he is voiced by Phil LaMarr. Its not too hard to tell that Phil is voicing him (in fact he kinda sounds like Jazz only older and without the Ghetto accent) but while its not one of Phil's best works but its not a bad one as it does fit Alpha Trion fairly well.
Overall I liked John Stephenson the most, Phil Lamarr at second and Corey Burton at third. (Though Tony Pope did make an interesting Younger Alpha Trion as well.)
(Update: Apparently George Takei and Rick Thomas have voiced Alpha Trion as well the former was a pretty natural choice as George's voice and performance does suit how much of a sagacious old man Alpha Trion truly is. While Rick's work on the role is okay as while he does occasionally slip into his Galvatron voice Rick does a decent job as Alpha Trion and while its not one of his better performances in the show its certainly not one of his worst. So in other words I rank George up there with John and Phil while Rick is not bad but not as good as John, Phil and George.)

@LordofEvil96 Nah George Takei's the Best. Cause he's not only a Internet Personality, He's Takei. :p

@Mr.Fennoy93 I do know what you mean and much like you I am a fan of what Takei does on the internet. But like some of the other people I have a bit of a hard time taking him seriously. If Patrick Stewart voiced Alpha Triton he would bring a more commanding fitting voice to him.

I like George Takei but I also have a hard time taking his voice seriously all the time. Sticking with John Stephenson.

George is pretty good, but he doesn't sound as aged as I'd like. Phil LaMarr is still my favourite.

My vote is still for John Stephenson, not sure why so many people prefer Takei honestly.

@OptimusSolo The answer is simple: because Transformers Prime is apparently the greatest Transformers show in the history of forever, any actor who voices the character in the show will automatically be the best.
I bet if Chris Tucker voiced this character in Prime instead of Takei, everybody, even the people who otherwise hate the performance, would be licking his feet in the poll anyway because the show's almighty godliness trumps all else.

@CatsTuxedo
Because he's good in the role. Like the update to the "Editor's Opinion" said, he does suit the "sagacious old man" that Alpha Trion is.
And no, I don't think Chris Tucker would've gotten votes if he'd been cast as the voice of Alpha Trion in Prime.

@CatsTuxedo I understand what you are saying and there is a psychological/subconscious desire in people to either vote for the 'original' or 'current' voice depending on their personality which has been proven over and over again on our compares but I do believe you are going a bit overboard on the impact TF Prime the show has on individual compares.
Is TF Prime one of the best series we have seen from the franchise, absolutely but I'm not sure that has as much to do with the voting as you are saying it does.
In other words, I agree to a point with your 'point' but maybe not quite to the extent that you do.

@OptimusSolo I've just looked into all the TF voice compares that are connected to the Prime show and the only two VCs where the Prime actor isn't leading the poll are Unicron (because really, there's only so many people that are capable of voting against Orson Welles) and Shockwave.
I doubt your opinion will change, but I see this as pretty solid evidence that Prime has quite a lot to do with how our users are voting, consciously or subconsciously.

@CatsTuxedo I really don't think that TFP fans are letting their opinions be swayed any more than say, G1 or movieverse fans. They like a certain version of the character, so they vote for that. Nothing more, nothing less. The only psychological aspect of voting here is that you vote for what you like. I'm a movieverse fan, but most of my votes are for the TFP incarnations of characters. Why? Because I find many of them to be legitimately extraordinary performances. It's not because I didn't grow up with G1. It's not because I think TFP is awesome therefore I HAVE to vote for the TFP character. Sometimes I prefer the G1 versions, sometimes I prefer the movieverse versions, and sometimes I prefer the TFP versions. I remember before a lot of the TFP versions of characters showed up in VCs, most of the votes were for G1 versions. And no offense, but I find most of the G1 voices to be awful/not memorable at all. There are obvious exceptions, of course (Starscream, Shockwave, Megatron, Optimus and others are all great), and that made me think that a lot of people were voting for the G1 version because it was "the original". It's just that coincidentally enough, I like TFP as a show and many of the VCs with TFP characters have great performances.

@CatsTuxedo
So because my favorite voice for the character is from my favorite show means I can't vote to him? I'm supposed to LIE about who my favorite voice is? I don't think so. -_-

@TheVengeanceKnight I never said anything of the sort. I'm simply under the assumption that a good number of users are simply voting for which voice is from their favorite show without actually listening to the other voices first. OptimusSolo just now brought up the scenario of users voting only for the "original" or "current" voice without any regard to the other options on the poll, so my assumption turning out to be true is quite possible.

OptimusSolo also said that he doesn't think that people thinking TFP being one of the best TF shows deson't have as much of an effect on voting as you like to think it does.

I actually thought Takei sounded really goofy on Trion. He didn't do a bad job, but yeah. I'm gonna give it to John Stephenson and Phil LaMarr

I think Rick Thomas voices Alpha Trion in the infamous Headmasters dub in this episode http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iPcbYVLgBA&feature=plcp he's not credited on the TFwiki, but it does sound an awful lot like the narration...

They're all good, though I'm going to go with Phil LaMarr for Alpha Trion.
