Voice Compare » Toy Story » Woody
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Woody with sound clips and images.
Woody is one of the main characters of the whole Toy Story series whom was in all the Toy Story movies. Woody is an old pull-string Cowboy toy that originally came from a Kids TV Show from the 1950's called "Woody's Round Up" whom was known as Andy's favorite toy since Kindergarten (in which he got the toy from his father years ago). Woody is well known as the leader of Andy's toys whom takes his position very seriously in which he ended up being very competitive with the then-new toy Buzz Lightyear (but fortunately over the course of the 1dt film they do become friends). But despite on how overly competitive and temperamental Woody can be he does genuinely care for Andy and is a firm believer on how important it is for a toy to help a kid to have a nice happy childhood.

EDITOR'S OPINION
Ladies and Gentleman today on the Toy Story VC section we take a look at one of the stars of the Toy Story series... WOODY! Lets start this little round-up here shall we?Tom Hanks- I am one of the various people whom loved the Toy Story movies and of course Tom Hanks as Woody is one of the various reasons why. Tom hanks was a perfectly natural choice for the role as his performance suited Woody's various nice and lets just say not so nice moments very well. Tom's work on the role is a grand example of the voice work in the Toy Story series and is a known example of how Pixar is known for using Celebrity Voice Talent well.
Jim Hanks- While normally the idea of casting a celebrities relative to fill in for said celebrity is usually seen as pathetic and cheap but fortunately there is a good reason why this is normally seen as an exception. While sure hearing Jim's voice its not hard to tell that Tom didn't reprise the role but Jim did make a good attempt at trying to sound like Tom. Jim's performance for the role also suited Woody's persona pretty well, granted usually when Jim is voicing Woody he doesn't have a lot of lines but Jim's overall voice work as Woody is really good as well.
Overall I am of coruse going with Tom but Jim has done some good work as well...

Tom, naturally! These 3 letter names and the fact that they are related confuse me a little...

Tom Hanks, no doubt about it. I can't remember Woody on star command and I watched that a lot as a kid. Weird. Tom Hanks is one of my fave actors, so that would make me a little bit bias, but I did hear Toy Story when I was young. Quite a few of my fave movies have Tom Hanks in them lol

Tom is the best. And Jim just didn't sound like Woody at all.

Is Jim impersonating his brother or do their voices just naturally sound alike?

@pete We may never know, but if it is an impression he must have gotten Tom into a lot of trouble when they were kids.

@pete Sometimes, family members sound alike with some minor differences. *shrug*
