EDITOR'S OPINION
Tim Allen was the perfect choice for Buzz Lightyear, bringing in many characteristics from his Home Improvement role of Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor, particularly his overconfidence and authority. Despite his refusal to believe he was a toy, you could never hate his character as all he wants to do is good and to help others alongside his "missions". This of course only applies to his "Space Ranger" persona. Of course once Buzz accepted the fact that he was a toy, Allen humanized Buzz just as well, making him even more likeable.When Buzz spawned an animated series, schedule and costs obviously prevented Allen from reprising his role, but who else but Patrick Warburton could step into the space boots of this now iconic character. I've been a fan of Warburton since his role as Puddy from Seinfeld, and his voice alone makes for a great Buzz. He has a commanding and confident voice, but not in a drill sergeant way.
At the end of the day, I must choose the original in Tim Allen, but I could totally see Warburton having played the role in the movies too.

I dunno, Patrick seems more fun in the role. Maybe it's his delivery but he makes me laugh more but h still works for the serious moments

This is one of the very few instances in which I actually LIKE celebrity voice-over talent! Tim Allen wins this one, even if it's just because he's the original, but Warburton does quite an impression, I'll say.

Both are good but Allen gets my vote. Warburton does come pretty close to matching him though.

This is so hard. I grew up with Patrick on 'Star command', I watched it a lot as a kid. But I also grew up with Toy Story too...which makes this hard. I like them both.

kronk as buzz lightyear? you people only vote on voice actors because of how good the voice is by the way, thumbs down to both actors for their lack of originality.

I love Tim Allen's voice as Buzz Lightyear. He sounds more space ranger like, more authentic.
Patrick Warburton is great in Seinfeld but he is no Buzz Lightyear. His voice makes Buzz sound like a smart ass. Don't like it at all.
Tim Allen has the best voice for Buzz and he makes Buzz sound heroic and soldier-like which is how I've always seen Buzz. Buzz has such a sweet naivety about him and yet he's also a brave ranger out to protect the universe. Tim Allen captures those parts of Buzz really well.

I love both of their voices, but Tim Allen is a better Buzz.

Tim Allen! I grew up with his voice as Buzz, and I actually didn't know he was replaced in the show until a few years later (maybe 2003-ish).
Also, Buzz was actually voiced by Tim Allen in the direct-to-video Buzz Lightyear of Star Command movie, but when the episodes were aired as part of the show, Warburton redubbed them.

in the first toy story video game and toy story treats buzz was voiced by pat fraley you can find many pat fraley clips on youtube.fraley says to infinity and beyond in force field other clips i reccmnd for the fraley clip is from happy snacky and wating for andy!
