EDITOR'S OPINION

Ah yes Raven, a known Ninja from the Tekken series whom debut in the series in Tekken 5. And in the 5th Tekken game he was voiced by Japan-residing English-speaking VA Jack Merluzzi whom is fairly known for lower voices when it comes to Voice talent there and it certainly worked here. Jack's Raven voice was a fairly low and deep (but not by too much) voice did suit Raven's serious persona and it was a pretty above average performance in general its probably Jack's best performance so far. In which Jack has been voicing Raven in Tekken 5 and in Tekken 6's arcade mode.

However in Tekken 6's story mode he is voiced by VA D.C "Albert Wesker" Douglas. And D.C's performance is pretty good, but while his voice is a bit higher than Jack's its not horrible in its own right. Its not one of the better English performances in Tekken 6's story modes but its okay at best.

Overall neither one are bad but I am kind of surprised on how I am going with Jack Merluzzi here.

Honestly, I like DC better. Jack's is good but sounds a little too grimdark.

To me, Jack Merluzzi suits Raven better. That said, I think Street Fighter X Tekken will be a great opportunity for Douglas to shine.

Oh wow so Jack Merluzzi voiced Master Albert from ZX: Advent and DC Douglas voiced Albert Wesker from Resident Evil 5. It's awesome that they voiced one of the same characters here especially since they both voiced a character named Albert and have such great voices as well.

I prefer Jack here just a little more, he sounds deeper and fits the character better.

After playing through, i can say i liked Jack,s Raven better: his voice was more raspier and mysterious, which gave Raven certain amount Boba Fett alike feeling.

But i think Dc did decent job, even if it isnt his career,s best: it took me some time to get used to very different voice, but soon got over it: Dc,s Raven was more like cool headed almost little bit Drebin alike, but he did well what he could. So Dc, if you,re reading this, Job Well Done!

Too bad Scenario Campaing/Storyline of T6 otherwise was hell of a letdown.

If you feel (as I do) that Douglas' VO was lacking, it is because we were introduced to Raven voiced by Merluzzi. Whenever someone takes over a voice, (and especially if they don't attempt to mimic the original) it is HIGHLY noticable even to the untrained ear. I do many voices myself, (although never professionally :( ) And I am not satisfied until the voice is JUST right. Identical to its original owner.

No worries @ profile! Voice actors used to be completely anonymous, so folks like you and the other VG fans really have changed the lives of VO actors. I have only gratitude!

It,s nice to see how humble you are, D.C! I like both of your voices, yet it was nice to hear you are not certainly one of those egoistic big stars that this world seems to be full about.

I actually like Jacks' voice for this better than mine! And, to be honest, I had no idea my character was black when I walked into the studio. I didn't even know what game it was at the time because it was so hush-hush. The video we had was of blocky animation, too. So, I was kinda surprised to see he was African-American. Regardless, Jack has an awesome voice!

I prefer Jack merluzi on this, simply because his voice is raspier and deeper, and while there is definetely some Blade/Wesley Snipes feeling into it, despite Namco,s protesting that it was only consiquence, it certainly fits into Raven,s collected, cool and badass character.

But i have no complaints to D.C Dougls either( although i have only heard some previews, i dont own T6 yet), he is great VO and fits into role, although Jack certainly originated the part, so i personally go 50/50 about right now, although who knows, maybe my opinion might change when i get my hands into story line of the game.

First Wesker, now Raven, i wonder whom D.C,S gonna portray next, Ganondorf?
