Tales Tales

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Martel with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Tales

Martel is the Spirit of the World Tree Yggdrasil, whom is a secondary protagonist in the Tales series whom made her debut in the first game of the series.  Martel is the Summon Spirit of the Yggdrasil Tree whom  normally tries to plead with people to please help save the Tree Yggdrasil to prevent the world's Mana from disappearing. While Martel was first seen when Cress had a vision of her early in Phantasia but she has a bit more of a history with the likes of Mint and Dhaos.  However Martel is the only character from Phantasia to have appeared in Tales of Symphonia as she has a somewhat similar role in that game as well.

Today on the Tales VC section we take a look at the Summon Spirit of the Yggdrasil Tree... MARTEL! Let us begin...

Kim Mai Guest- Kim's voice for the role was quite a natural fit for the role as it does Martel's gentle and caring nature very well. Kim's performance also suited on how Martel tries to convince Mithos to stop his evil ways in a kind and compassionate way in which its basically another fine example of the voice work in that game.

Lynn Harris-  Lynn's work on this role is actually not that bad as her voice and performance does suit how Martel is a classic example of a benevolent tree spirit well enough. Granted Martel barely had any voice acted lines in the game at all but Lynn's work on the role was actually one of the better performances in that game.

Michelle Ruff- Michelle also does a swell job in playing the role as a kind tree spirit whom pleads to the heroes to save this special tree rather well. While I admit I do think that sometimes they apply the vocal echo effects on Michelle's voice a bit too thick but other than that it is a good example of Michelle's work and of the voice work in the show.

Overall I am actually not too sure who to pick this time as all these ladies have done pretty well with this role in their own way.

Kim Mai Guest sounds very gentle and pleasant. One of the best roles in a fantastic dub.

Michelle Ruff's decent and Lynn Harris is rather plain since she didn't get much to work with.

1. Kim Mai Guest - Very gentle-sounding and pleasant voice IMO! Easily a standout of what's already a great dub overall.

2. Michelle Ruff - She's pretty serviceable as well I suppose, though not quite as distinctive as Kim was.

3. Lynn Harris - She just sounds far too plain compared to the other two VAs. Though I'll acknowledge she didn't have much to work with either.

 7 Shout Outs!
Okay. This comparison has confirmed my thoughts: Kim Mai Guest would make a perfect Princess Zelda.
