Voice Compare » Tales » Cress Albane
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Cress Albane with sound clips and images.
Cress Albane is the original main protagonist of the Tales series whom originated in the first Tales game namely Tales of Phantasia. Cress is a very traditional styled RPG hero as he is a kind young warrior with a strong sense of justice (and also vengeance as he strongly desires to take down Dhaos whom was responsible for his home village to be destroyed). Cress is a 17-year old swordsman from the Village of Toltus (though he can also use other weapons like spears, axes and halberds) and while he is not stupid he can be occasionally naive (such as certain issues like lets just say romance). While Cress is primarily known as the hero of the first Tales game he has appeared in plenty of other games in the series normally in cameos and crossover special escort missions, in the latter he normally tries to make funny puns even though they always make his teammates groan.

EDITOR'S OPINION
Today on the Tales VC section we take a look at the Hero of the first Tales game... CRESS ALBANE! Lets take a look here shall we?Robert Tsonos- Robert's work on the role is actually not that bad as his voice for Cress is not bad but perhaps a little too low for the role (I know its not a deep voice in general but still). But to be fair Robert's performance for the role does suit a heroic young man well so its one of the better performances in that game (even though its not saying much).
Johnny Yong Bosch- Johnny's voice for the role is a pretty natural fit for the role as it does suit on how he is a thin teenage boy (but doesn't sound wimpy at all). Johnny's performance suited Cress' kind, heroic (and occasionally naive) persona rather well and is a good example of his work.
Overall I liked Johnny the most but Robert actually wasn't that bad, well to me at least...

I think Robert was miscast. His deep voice is pretty cool-sounding and could work well for a different character. It just doesn't sound right for Cress. Johnny is much more fitting, though it IS kind of distracting how he sounds like Guy.

Not a fan of Bosch, but he's definitely better than Tsonos....a lot better.
