Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Krang with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

*NOTE: In the 2012 series, Kraang Prime was revealed to be the original Kraang hence why Rosanne and Rachel were added and why Nolan North's version is not.*

Brad is a nice different take for Krang and fits nicely but it's his delivery that sorta kills it for me, he's all over the place and not really in a good way.
said at 10:19 AM on Sat Nov 12 2016
@Music Meister - Part of me thinks that might be intentional. They might have wanted his delivery to be rather broken and ... well, alien

Maybe but it's a little awkward than I would like.

@Music Meister - I suppose. That's just what I assumed they were going with. I think with a few tweaks he could be a lot stronger

Brad Garrett honestly sounded like Scooby-Doo. I didn't hate the voice but this is a weird voice for Krang that needs to be accepted as a different iteration of Krang compared to the 80s one.

I'll give Garrett this: you can tell he's having a lot of fun voicing Krang. It just takes some getting use to for me.

I put my vote on Garrett. It's an out-of-the-box casting choice that worked out really well and it enjoyably encapsulates the image of a big mad genius bubble-gum wad. Fraley's second; sure it's pretty distinct, but the lack of power in his delivery makes him come off as rather ineffectual.

I quite like Brad Garrett, probably my second favorite after Pat Fraley; even though it's a very different-sounding voice, it works and he sounded like he was having a blast.

I like Patrick Fraley the most: he sounds very extra-terrestrial like without sounding over-the-top or obnoxious while doing it. Townsend Coleman can get a bit too high pitched at times, so while his performance works, it's not as strong as Patrick's is.

Wayne Grayson's performance is more distinct in the 2003 Series, but he sounds more like Fraley in the 2009 game, though far too screechy at points with the latter take.

Bradford Cameron is actually pretty fitting, but a bit too generic evil mad scientist like at times.

Rachel Butera is incredibly flat and wooden. Roseanne Barr is better, but sounds a bit too much like a granny at times.

Keith Szarabajka sounds fairly intelligent in the role, but not much like what I'd picture an alien would sound like.

Brad Garrett sounds pretty burly and intimidating, and is pretty good, but something's a bit off about his delivery at times.

Steve Blum sounds really smug and dark, but it's not really what I pictured Krang sounding like.

I said before but I'll say again, Brad Garrett is a pretty good Krang surprisingly. He has this great energy to the role and it sounds like he was having a lot of fun playing the character.

I like Brad Garrett, and I think he's good for a comedic performance, but as a certain guy with glasses pointed out, his performance has no definite direction; it's like he or the director (likely the director) didn't know what they wanted to come out of his performance.

Ah, now I understand why Nolan's version wasn't added. Thanks for clearing that up. That being said, I'm going with Pat Fraley. It's ny personal favorite Krang voice and it still holds up pretty well.

Wayne Grayson & Bradford Cameron are also good picks. Roseanne & Rachel work for the show, just not overly fond of it.

Keith & Steve are just bland in this role. Which is a shame.

I would like to see Nolan North get a shot at voicing the original Krang instead of the Krang race. Maybe a new video game somewhere down the line maybe, is where he could get his chance.

After seeing Out of the Shadows I can say, Brad Garrett took a bit of getting used to, but after a couple minutes I think he does a great job with what he had. He made it all his own and not like any of the previous incarnations and it worked pretty well.
said at 11:42 PM on Sun Jun 5 2016
@skeletonking1234 That being said, you may want go in with low expectations in terms of screen time he gets (About 10 minutes I'd say)
said at 10:35 PM on Mon Jun 6 2016
@skeletonking1234 I agree, I would've loved to see more of Brad Garrett's growling baritone of Krang. Maybe he should've given Shredder a communicator like the 80's show just so he could rant. Oh yeah, and am I the only one who actually laughed at the scene of Krang trying to get back in his robot's cockpit?
said at 6:33 PM on Mon Jul 4 2016
@skeletonking1234 Totally. I felt Brad's delivery was pretty reminiscent of Pat Fraley (down to the disgusting quirks), yet his voice is different.

Roseanne was a major out of the box casting choice, but I actually really like her take. She has this sort of creepiness to her voice that works very well, and I feel the effects really enhanced her performance.

Rachel has a more bombastic take, though she could get a tad grating at times. A little disappointed they couldn't get Roseanne back.

Steve Blum was a good choice, though I feel he could've added a little more to it. Don't really know how to describe it.

That said, my vote stays with Pat Fraley, since he's just really iconic here and made the role lots of fun. I also really enjoyed hearing him reprise the role in the 2012x1987 crossover.
said at 8:20 PM on Sun Jun 5 2016
@Zillah Steve could have added some sort of sliminess to his voice. While he put Krang on the "high" end of his vocal spectrum, he could've also added some disgusting aspect to his voice ala Pat Fraley.

As far as Krang goes I watched the 2003-2009 series when it was on tv but didn't get much into it. I watch the current series but not much for that Krang although my favorite episode of the current series is when Patrick Fraley voiced his 80s Krang in the current series and my favorite TMNT series is the 1987 series so my favorite Krang is Patrick Fraley as Krang I liked it when Townsend Coleman voiced Krang too Townsend is one of my favorite actors he's a very nice person and a Facebook friend of mine.

Pat Fraley is just perfect as Krang. His quirky performance fits the character perfectly. It helps that he had a lot of hilarious moments, but he also managed to be a credible threat too.

Townsend Coleman didn't sound really good at the beginning, but he really improved in later episodes, sounding pretty close to Fraley. He also manages to have a lot of fun in the role.

Wayne Grayson is also pretty good. He didn't leave much of an impression on the 2003 cartoon, but his performance in Turtles in Time is absolutely fitting.

Keith Szarabajka is not as quirky as the previous performers, but he still works well. He sounds pretty intellectual, and the robotic delivery fits his version really well.

Bradford Cameron is decent, but he just doesn't click with me.

Rachel Butera is pretty great as Kraang Prime. I just can't get enough of her shouty yet factual delivery.

Roseanne Barr is also great as Kraang Prime. She's enjoyable and her delivery is pretty solid, but I really feel that I like Rachel better.

Steve Blum is kinda cool. He's more like Keith Szarabajka's take, so he does kinda fit.

So overall, I think I would put Rachel and Roseanne at third and fourth place respectively, right in-between Townsend Coleman and Wayne Grayson, and I would tie Blum with Szarabajka.

Having seen the new movie, I must say that Brad Garrett does a pretty good job as Krang. He nails the disgusting "blob" sound, and despite having a deeper voice, he really seems to be having fun and he fits quite well with the movie version.

He's tied with Blum and Szarabajka.

No sound clips for Nolan North yet? Can anyone verify whether or not he's going to be added to this compare at all? I could sorta understand why Prime & Sub-prime voices for Krang are not on this compare, since they could technically be treated as separate characters. But hey I could be wrong.

The notion that is the notion to vote for that who is known as Keith in the poll that is the poll to compare voices for that which is known as Krang is seconded by the user that is known as TheVengeanceKnight.
said at 6:58 PM on Thu Dec 5 2013
The fact that both the ones known as VctrBnsn and TheVengeanceKnight are voting for the one known as Keith is a notion that is great, but there is knowing that the fact that he is talking in a type of speech like this is of a Krang speech of which I am not being familiar. So Metalsonic655 shall be voting with my vote for the the person who is calling himself "Patrick Fraley." Metalsonic655 will be admitting though, that the man known as Keith Szarabajka will be getting a place that is known to be a place that is second that is on Metalsonic655's list.

Pat Fraley by far, he made the character incredibly entertaining and those freaky gargling alien noises were brilliantly done and really fun to imitate.

Wayne Grayson doesn't really count since while sharing the same name, he's not necessarily the same character. Just a funny reference at best, his voice isn't terrible, but its too short for me to judge and just isn't as memorable...sounds kind of whiny too but I guess that's what they were going for. Its not terrible, but at the same time its...not Krang.

Bradford Cameron does a pretty good imitation, a bit too high pitched but he does get the alien noises down pretty well.

So yeah, my vote goes to Pat Fraley, with Bradford Cameron as a close second. I don't really count Wayne Grayson here, but he was a decent reference I guess.

@Metabad Yeah 2003 Krang was as far as we know was a good Utrom which made him an ally of the Turtles instead of an enemy of them.

Wayne's was basically an ally to the turtles since he was a good Utrom. Ch'rell should have been Krang but that would have made things complicated.
