EDITOR'S OPINION
April O'Neil whether you know her as a prominent News Reporter for Channel 6 or as an Antique Shop Proprietor (or a bit of both) this is her little section in BTVA's Voice Compare. In the old series we have VA Renae Jacobs. Say what you will about how her depiction in the comics is not exactly how she was in the comics but Renae's handiwork for April is indeed fitting.
Next up we have Veronica Taylor as the more Comic-accurate portrayal of Ms. O'Neil here and she was very well suited for the role. In fact I will say that her voice work for April is probably some of her best handiwork.
Though last but not least is Sarah Michelle Gellar in the 2K7 TMNT movie, and while she pretty much got to voice April is because well she is a celebrity she wasn't a bad choice either. She might not have been the best choice all things considered but her handiwork as April is rather satisfactory enough.
So I am thinking of going with a tie between Renae and Veronica with Sarah at a close second here.

Mae is surprisingly good for April considering that she has been de-aged and fits her well. My favorite however would have to be Veronica since she did an excellent job making her very three dimensional and more than just a pretty face.

At first I didn't think I'd like Mae as April but she has impressed me.

Mae is good but I'm not a fan of the de-aging of April. Sticking with Veronica.

@Anicomicgeek I'm a bit curious, was the 2007 film the only TMNT-related production you've seen?

@Anicomicgeek And you've seen nothing of the 2003 series? Or not much?

The most I ever saw of the '03 series was parts of an episode or two and parts of Turtles Forever.

@Anicomicgeek Well if you find the time you really should catch more because you'd be missing on what most fan consider the best TMNT series(it's the main reason I like TMNT and am in this VC section) though the 2012 series is pretty decent I saw 90% of the 03 series on tv mostly on Cartoon Network but a few episodes were on 4kids. All the episodes are on Youtube.

odd how all but Sarah Michelle are pretty much voice matches to the original animated series. All fine females as well.

For the animated series, Taylor is probably my favorite, probably since her version of the character has the most dimension, and is the most interesting to listen to.
Sarah Michelle Gellar was also fantastic. Her April is very similar to Taylor's but perhaps a little more natural-sounding. On the other hand, Sarah would probably work better as a live action April (which would work out VERY well, but I'm probably a little biased since I'm a huge Gellar fan).
Jacobs sounded a little too young, annoying, occasionally even borderline ditzy, and almost smart-alec sounding as opposed to intelligent sounding, although I probably blame that on the direction of the series, not Ms. Jacobs' voice acting, although I do think she could've toned down her line readings, which was almost always emphatic-sounding, over-the-top, and even downright outrageous. Her performance lacked subtlety, but again, the direction was probably what got her there. With that said, Soler did a very good job imitating that voice. The only thing she was missing was the distinct Canadian-sounding accent to Jacobs' voice.
It'll be interesting to see how Mae Whitman will sound as April. I'm worried since Mae would probably sound a little too young, given her other roles, but I'm hopeful. :P

Veronica Taylor, then Renae Jacobs. Rebecca Soler did an amazing job at getting close to the original. While i'm a HUGE Buffy fan, i didn't care too much for Sarah's April

I went with Veronica, I like Renae and grew up with her as April. So this was a hard choice... they both did a great job as the characters they were playing. So I went with which April I liked more. I personally don't feel the other two here even compare to Renae and Veronica.

Renae Jacobs will always be April O'Neil in my book; the April O'Neil from the 80s TMNT Cartoon is my favorite version of her.

This one was tough! I liked them all, but I had to go with Veronica Taylor, because I'm used to it. The other two were so excellent as well.
