Voice Compare » Super Mario Bros. » Toadette

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Toadette with sound clips and images.
Toadette is a character from the Super Mario Bros series in which she made her debut in Mario Kart Double Dash for the Gamecube. Toadette is simply known as a female counterpart to Toad (however unlike Toad the games do make it clear that Toadette is a unique character and not just Toads whom happen to be girls). The relationship with Toadette and Toad is a bit inconsistent as they are sometimes referred to as siblings and sometimes they are referred to as friends. However Toadette does aid Mario and has mainly appeared in the Mario Spin-Offs

Today on the Super Mario Bros. VC section we have a little something for this cutesy little female counterpart of Toad... TOADETTE! We shall begin with Toadette's initial appearance as Toad's partner in the Race where she was voiced by Jen Taylor. Jen is of course no stranger in doing cutesy higher voices for Nintendo games however I do think that this is one of her better ones though. While Jen's voice for Toadette is suitably cute but it also came off kind of natural to me as well. So in other words Jen's work as Toadette is a good example of her work in the Mario Franchise.

While Jen did reprise her role as Toadette in the Mario Party games it was until Mario Party 8 in which Samantha Kelly took over the role here. While yes Samantha did take over all of Jen Taylor's roles in the Mario series ever since the late 2000's but unlike her work such as Peach and Toad, Samantha's Toadette voice does sound a bit different compared to Jen's. (Not necessarily complaining mind you, just an observation.) Though it seems like Samantha's Toadette sounds like her Toad voice but remove the rasp but add in a little bit of femininity to which does work with the role fairly well. Overall I am not entirely sure who to go with as both of these gals did OK with this role.

Jen Taylor Obviously. Samantha may have an identical Peach and Toad's voice to make up for her , but her Toadette sounds too much like Toad , even in Mario Golf WT Toadette voice is raspy! lol . Jen never messed up her characters , all of them sounded clearly different.

Jen's Toadette sounds so adorable that I can't help but vore for it.

Don't get me wrong, Samantha did a really great job but I just love the sound of cute voices from cute characters. Ah music to my ears.

@HienFan I think Jen's Toadette sounds better than her Toad. And yes, I noticed that Sam's does sound just like her Toad.

@Ross123 She is much cuter than Toad certainly, just because she's a female counterpart doesn't mean she has to sound like Toad

Though Jen's Toad is waaaaay better than her Peach(she sounds like she's on helium on the late N64/Gamecube days ack)

@HienFan I never said that she has to sound like Toad. I said Jen does a better job here than voicing Toad and Sam sounding just like her Toad. Those statements don't necessarily mean they have to sound alike.

And I agree, Jen's Toad is better than her Peach as I found her annoying to listen to.

@Ross123 I meant that Toadette didn't need to sound like Toad himself so therefore I think Jen is better as this character

Jen's a great actress as Toad, Toadette and Daisy but as Peach err wut...

@HienFan Ok that makes sense and I agree with on Jen anyway.

As for Jen as Peach, it's just an opinion. If you disagree with it that's fine.

@HienFan I just realised I didn't like Jen as Peach. I completely forgot about my comments on the Peach compare. Probably because it was a while ago so just ignore that last comment.

Well, both voices sound a little nasally, but maybe that was the point. I don't know, their voices sound similar to me.

Both were fantastic (not to mention a whole lot better than their Toad voices), bringing out Toadette's joyness and vitality, but I slightly prefer Samantha's; her performance has more emotion and liveliness to it.
