The Evil Falcon

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of The Evil Falcon with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Stuart Little

The Evil Falcon is an antagonist from E.B. White's Stuart Little franchise. As one of the most feared birds in all of Manhattan, Falcon has flown to the top of the literal and proverbial foodchain, coercing many animals to do his bidding, mostly stealing items from innocent people. He found Margalo at a young age, orphaned, and raised her as his own, teaching her the tricks of the trade (not unlike another James Woods villain...). He eventually runs afowl (heh) of a certain heroic mouse, and boy, things do not go well for Falcon.

EDITOR'S OPINION

Falcon's first appearance was in the theatrical Stuart Little 2, where he was voiced by James Woods. James' voice oozes sliminess and charisma, so it's understandable that he's a natural fit for a character who can manipulate others into doing his will.

Known for his celebrity impersonations and extreme range of voices, Patrick Fraley was brought in for the animated television series. Patrick does a great job as a fill-in for James, even though James is one of those actors that I don't think even the best impressionists can truly nail 100%. Even if the voice is only 99% identical, having suitably Falcon-esque dialogue and cadence to the performance is enough to make it nearly indistinguishable.

As I said, Patrick is probably the only choice when your requirement is "sound as much like James Woods as you can" (in addition to Maddie Taylor), but in this case, I have to go with the original: James.

*Special thanks to TailwithaStripe for the James Woods and Patrick Fraley sound clips!

Not one of James' best voice acting, I dunno it just doesn't sound as smooth as his Hades or what have you.

Patrick has the polished acting but lacks the major points James was able to hit.

@Music Meister I'm of two minds on the subject.

1.) Just because it's James and just because it's a villain doesn't mean they need to sound identical. Hades is the slimiest character in all of animation, so that sliminess doesn't NEED to be present with Falcon. Couple that with different direction and intent, they'll obviously be different.

2.) I understand what you're saying. When compared to the charisma and energy he put into Hades, Falcon sounds...cheap, I guess? (Or should I say CHEEP, amirite? Another bird joke. I'M ON FIRE.) Ahem. Like Falcon was just "discount James Woods villain", you know?

@Shaun Ince You need to ground him. Maybe even clip his wings.

James Woods definitely gets my vote. He just knows how to play smooth-talking bad guys, its practically his forte, whether it be Hades or Falcon. He can be give funny one-liners but also creepy and malicious at the same time.

Patrick Fraley actually does a good impression of James and he can be threatening as well. But he's a little too light-hearted and lacks the creepiness James had.

Once again, I want to thank you for doing this VC! It's been tons of fun and I'm glad I contributed! :D

James Woods sweeps the competition. He brings the typical villain charm to The Falcon.

Patrick Fraley is decent in the role.
