Voice Compare » Spider-Man » Lizard
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Lizard with sound clips and images.
(Note: This is only for the times that Lizard has actually had a speaking role which as you can see here has happened a lot.)
The Lizard is one of Spider Man's various foes whom has been a foe of Spider Man ever since The Amazing Spider Man Vol. 1 #6 in November of 1963. Lizard is the monstrous alter ego of Dr Curt Connors in which the Lizard was created by Curt Connors' Reptilian DNA experiments on himself. The Lizard is an incredibly powerful and vicious creature in which it has had an occasional sympathetic depiction (due to his alter ego Curt Connors), The Lizard is normally either a mindless savage or an angry creature that is against mankind.

EDITOR'S OPINION
Today on the Spider Man VC section we take another look at another prominent foe of Spider Man namely Dr. Curt Connors' monstrous alter ego... THE LIZARD! Since this is a rather large VC I will simply say that I am not sure which one of these guys will I pick for the role. Whether its the higher Lizard voices such as Dee Bradley Baker and Gillie Fenwick to lower ones such as Rob Zombie and Joseph Campanella they have all done pretty well for this role here in their own way.Pokejedservo

You know, if you guys could get a clip of Dee Bradley Baker's deeper impersonation of the Lizard from Ultimate Spider-Man, he'd probably be in the lead for this voice compare.

Joseph was the voice I heard as a kid so I can't hate him, but I will go with Dee based on his Ultimate Spider-Man performance.

After his performance in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, I'm gonna change my vote to Dee Bradley Baker.

Dee was good in Ultimate and it's great change from his PS1 voice. I'm curious about which voice he would have used in Spectacular if The Lizard was used again. That being said if Peter Lurie can't play Leatherhead in an episode of current version of TMNT Dee should take over as it reminded me of some of the voices for him.

Well, it's official: Steve Blum makes every character better.

1. Joseph Campanella. Now This is exactly how Lizard needs to sound: Intelligent, unpredictable and terrifying! He even gets the balance right between Connors his human side and his reptilian side, he gets my vote.
2. Nathan Carlson. He makes a great monstrous and reptilian Lizard, it certainly fits.
3. Rob Zombie. Personally his take on Lizard was very good, it felt sinister and resentful. He even sounds a little like Steve Blum.
4. Dee Baker/James Arnold Taylor. Both too high pitch for Lizard, you'd expect one of the most prominent villains of Spider man to be a little more threatening IMO. Their acting is not bad though.
The rest are pretty much on the same boat as each other.

Fenwick is...alright. I don't have a real opinion on it.
I'm disapointed wit Burton's, it's a little generic and the hissing doesn't fit with the voice
I like Campanella, he gives the animal/reptile side of The Lizard but still keeps Connor's intellgence to him. He was also good for when Connor was in control of the Lizard.
Bradley does the cliche hiss with a reptile character, it's alright but not very rememberable.
Zombie is also good I guess but there's something that doesn't feel right for the voice to me. Dunno why.
The samething with Taylor as with Bradely, cliche hiss but not very rememberable.
Carlson is good if you want The Lizard to be a monster, a good deep and tough voice that still has a reptile feel to it.
Jackson does have a disadvantage from the others, he doesn't do a reptile feel to the character. His version is Connor in control of The Lizard. It's not bad, he has a very intellgent and well spoken feel to his. However I think the voice would fit better for Connor and I wish he did a more reptile or monster approach to the character (I know he could do pretty well considering his other roles).

Gotta hand it to Nathan Carlson on this one. I felt he did a good job as thr Lizard, though Joseph Campanella is good, too. Roger Jackson did a good job as how Spider-Man: Friend or Foe choswe to do the Lizard--which is pretty much Cr. Connors in control of the Lizard's body. Rob Zombie's too for the more sinister and vengeful take on the character the MTV show opted to use.
Dee Bradley Baker was good as the Lizard on Spectacular, but that was mostly growls and roars. As the Lizard in the 2000 games? Well, my problem with Baker and Daran Norris as the vilalins is a lot of them tended to sound more like typical 80s cartoon villains and while the 2000 games were lgihter than the games since, I don't quite the sound of a lot of the villain voices in those games.

Joseph Campanella is clearly the vest Nathan Carlson is second for me and Baker at third and Zombie at 4th. The only reason Baker is winning is because he reprised the role in Spectacular but didn't speak.

@pete I didn't vote for Baker because he's in Spectacular. I only voted for him because of his performance in Ultimate Spider-man.

@coolgeek176 I'm streaming it on animeflavor now? Is it the only episode out?
Replysaid at 9:18 PM on Fri Jan 18 2013
@pete That was the only new episode on demand. I was only looking because sometimes they put episodes there have yet to air.

@coolgeek176 Oh well. It's worth the wait because Season 2 looks and sounds promising. A lot of Spidey's rogues will appear.
