Voice Compare » Sonic the Hedgehog » Uncle Chuck
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Uncle Chuck with sound clips and images.
Sir Charles Hedgehog A.K.A Uncle Chuck is a secondary protagonist in the Sonic the Hedgehog series (or more precisely only in the Archie Comics Sonic series) in which his debut was in the comic book Sonic the Hedgehog #16. Charles Hedgehog is the beloved Uncle of Sonic and is a scientist whom was a Knight in the service of the Acorn Kingdom. One of Uncle Chuck's inventions was the Roboticizer whom can turn flesh into metal in which Chuck's intentions were to heal the sick by turning them into cyborgs unfortunately a man named Julian known as Dr. Robotnik used that machine in conquering Mobius. Charles is patriotic intellectual and is a genuinely kind and caring hedgehog though he normally blames himself for many things and feels very guilty that his invention the Roboticizer is a catalyst to Robotnik's conquest of Mobius.

EDITOR'S OPINION
Today on the Sonic VC section we take a look at this known staple of the Arche Sonic Comics... UNCLE CHUCK! Let us begin...William Windom- William's voice for the role felt very natural for the role as a wise old father figure to Sonic. As for William's performance in the role it does suit Chuck's wise and kindly persona very well and is another fine example of the voice work in the show.
Maurice LaMarche- Maurice is a fine VA but his voice for the role does seem a bit strange a first (such as the slight southern accent he is using) but its not bad and it did grow on me pretty quickly. Now for Maurice LaMarche's performance on the other hand was just fine as it does suit how Chuck is a kind old scientist just fine so basically its a pretty good example of Maurice's work.
Overall I will go with William more but Maurice was pretty good as well.

I adore Maurice, but Windom has both the benefit of WAY better material and a more legitimate aged sound.

Yeah, I'm going with William Windom, he sounds like a kind old man but he could also sound like an evil crazy robot when the time called for it.
Maurice LaMarche sounds alright, the accent sounds decent but his voice sounds a bit too young to me. He sounds too jokey to me and for some reason it sounds like a baseball coach to me, I don't really know why that is.
Maurice isn't "bad" per-say, but William just had a lot more to work with and gave the character so much more personality, so I'm going with him.

Oh wow, I didn't even know Uncle Chuck appeared in anything other than the old SatAM series.
As such, I'm naturally biased here, but I definitely prefer Windom's performance. Like you said, Maurice is a fine VA and does a serviceable job, but he just can't replace Windom, to me.
