Voice Compare » Sonic the Hedgehog » Omochao
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Omochao with sound clips and images.
Omochao is a robotic toy Chao that provides gameplay advice in Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, and Sonic and the Secret Rings. He also acts as the commentator for the races in Sonic Riders and Sonic Free Riders.

EDITOR'S OPINION
Lani was good at making Omochao sound annoying, but the way she delivered her lines felt awkward. She did a bit better in Sonic Heroes, but Omochao's role was pretty decreased in that game. Liza was all right. Nothing too special, but not horrible. Rebecca wasn't really that great and my least favorite, but Omochao didn't have much to say in that game. That leaves my favorite, Laura Bailey! She managed to fit Omochao's personality and actually make him likable and funny. Plus, she got some good lines to work with.

Huepo isn't as suiting for Omochao as Lani. She gave Omochao a suiting energetic performance.

@NintendoNate25 A character from the game Klonoa, also voiced by Laura Bailey. Incidentally, they are vaguely similar come to think of it. They're small, blue, floaty, help out the main character... Hewpoe is far less annoying though.

@NCZ Oh yeah. lol Maybe I should play more Klonoa...

Lani did a decent job although her speech was awkward. She did a good boyish sound but if she had better directing (go play any Virtua Fighter games or Shemmue and you'll know what I'm talking about) should would have sounded a lot better.
Liza I feel is just a forgettable voice actress for Omochao. She's not bad by any means but is just average.
Rebecca felt like a miscast, that is all I'm going to say.
Laura really makes Omochao a joy to listen to, the way she speaks her lines really makes it sound so lively that I'm willing to turn Omochao on for Sonic Generation just to hear Laura.

This is a tough choice because all of these voice actors bring a different flavor to Omochao's voice (and personality in some instances). But I guess I'll rank them in the fairest way possible.
1. Laura Bailey
She did a great job doing an energetic voice for Omochao. She keeps things alive and can sound a bit grating at times (which might be the point). Unlike the other voices though, Laura makes Omochao very feminine and not as robotic. This is not a bad thing by any means, but if someone is used to hearing Omochao with a more robotic boyish tone, Laura's voice might sound a little awkward. Regardless, I do prefer this voice for this tutorial/announcer character anyways. So kudos to Laura Bailey.
2. Lani Minella
Her voice in Sonic Adventure 2 was boyish and robotic. It was kinda cute at times, but it wasn't too lively. In Sonic Heroes, she decided to change things up quite a bit by making the voice more energetic and higher pitched. This version of the voice is a little weird to listen to, but I do compliment Lani for the effort at least. I think both versions make Omochao sound a bit robotic, but unique at the same time. So I thought Lani did fine overall, but having her voice the character probably wasn't the best decision to begin with.
3. Liza Jacqueline
Liza was okay, but she made Omochao sound a little mellow and generic to me. The voice is not unfitting, but I didn't think it was as interesting as Laura's or even Lani's voice. There isn't much else for me to say really.
4. Rebecca Honig
I thought this voice was rather mediocre. It sounded a bit nerdy and bland. I know Rebecca didn't have too many lines to begin with, but I feel she wasn't a good choice for the role anyway. So she's my least favorite voice.
I liked Laura and, to some extent, Lani the best for voicing Omochao. But I'll vote for Laura since it was the most appealing to listen to.

1. Lani Minella - Omochao's voice sounded most fitting in Sonic Adventure 2, in my opinion.
2. Laura Bailey - I love the announcer-style voice she did for Omochao!
3. Liza Jacqueline - Hmm, her voice sounds familiar. Perhaps I heard it in Pokemon.
4. Rebecca Honig- Heh, that was pretty cute.

I honestly never think much of Omochao's voice since it always seemed to be just a tutorial character in general.
Anyway, I do think that Laura's voice is good and makes Omochao sound cute, only it doesn't sound robotic enough to me. I don't know, I guess when I look at a character like Omochao I expect it's voice to sound just a little bit like it's coming out of a robot. That's why I prefer Lani or Liza (though I do keep in mind how annoying the fans thought Omochao was in Sonic Adventure 2).

Lani is the best. She just sounded more the part and really brought Omochao to life. The others sounded more generic, though I guess Laura is fairly decent.

After re-listening to the clips, Rebecca's not that bad either. Liza's the one I don't really like (I didn't even know it was supposed to be Omochao).

I like Lani's boy voice in SA, especially in that Am I Annoying You? Line! I think Liza was actually pretty good, but I think she should've been more lively, I cant vote yet, becuz ultimately none of them were PERFECT for the role, cuz they all lacked at least 1 important thing

Lani Minella did make Omochao sound more annoying and boyish She did well bringing those sides to Omochao but sometimes it would get too annoying XD but I agree she improved in Heroes
I'm not entirely sure about Rebbeca Honig's version of Omochao there was something missing in her Omochao voice Though it at least didn't sound as annoying but there was still something off
Liza sounds more boyish like the other 2 but she is not as annoying as Lani I actually found her voice acceptable even though it was a little bit annoying and Laura Bailey does good here as well though it sounds less boyish and still annoying at times
I call a tie between Liza Jacqueline and Laura Bailey but Lani was good too She would sound funny at times So I won't vote anyone yet :P...

I'll give this one to Laura. Acting wise and personality, Laura wins! But like you said, she had good lines that gave her the chance to bring out that nice personality.
Voice wise, Laura was probably the most girly. Now I cant really hear Rebecca's that well, so Idk for sure, but hers and Lani's sound more boyish.
I think a combination of ALL of them, would make the best omochao.
