OTHER SONIC THE HEDGEHOG COMPARES
Sonic the Hedgehog

Voice Compare » Sonic the Hedgehog » Knuckles the Echidna

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Knuckles the Echidna with sound clips and images.
Knuckles the Echidna is the guardian of the Master Emerald on Angel Island, and one of the few remaining Echidnas that were thought wiped out by Chaos. He was formerly one of Sonic's rivals, but the two are now best friends. Knuckles is so named for his strong punches, but his enemies often take advantage of his gullibility. While Knuckles is rough, he can also be introverted, in part due to living by himself for his whole life.

Knuckles made his animated debut in Sonic Underground, where he was played by Brian Drummond (it was believed for the longest time that Ian Corlett provided the voice, but alas). His voice was done by Bill Wise in the Sonic OVA. In the games, he was voiced by Michael McGaharn in Sonic Adventure, Ryan Drummond in Sonic Shuffle, and Scott Dreier starting in Sonic Adventure 2. Dan Green voiced Knuckles for Sonic X and the games from Shadow the Hedgehog to Sonic and the Black Knight. Travis Willingham inherited the role for Sonic Free Riders and is his current voice.

when i heard they were getting new actors back in 2010. i really wanted Chris sabet to play knuckles.. i heard his voice as Giroro from sgt frog and his temper scenes reminded me SOOO much of knuckles. but ya travis is a good next step.

Before Shadow came around, Knuckles was my number one favorite Sonic character and he is still in my top 2 till this very day. So I just have to express my opinion on my favorite red echidna.

Personally, it's a toss up between Michael, Scott, & Travis. But all of them are pretty good, even his VAs from old school Sonic. Brian fits very well for a classic Knuckles I think. Anyway, here's how I will list them.

1. Scott Drever
2. Michael McGaham
3. Travis Willingham
4. Ryan Drummond (He's good but he's more of Sonic for me. After all, he is my favorite VA for Sonic. His Knuckles performance was good though.)
5. Dan Green (He's good but I've heard his voice too many times but he did alright for Knuckles in Sonic X)
6. Brian Drummond (He's awesome for a classic Knuckles)
7. Bill Wise (A bit to country like for my taste lol)

@BlueSkySlash Ryan does have an older brother, Aaron Drummond. Great writer, but he doesn't do voices. As for Kate Drummond (voice of Grim in Splinter Cell Blacklist), none of them are related to her either, at least as far as I know.

1. Scott Dreier - Michael McGaharn may have modeled the voice, but Scott perfected it.
2. Ryan Drummond - The man has range and did a perfectly suiting voice for Knuckles.
3. Michael McGaharn - His performance isn't as strong as the previous two but it was all right, and suitable for Knuckles.
4. Ian James Corlett - Interestingly enough, he's perfect for a younger Knuckles.
5. Bill Wise - He's more entertaining than the next two.
6. Dan Green - He was too "tough and gruff," not to mention that he used The Pharaoh's voice for Knuckles. You shouldn't be using default voices for Sonic characters. They deserve better than that.
7. Travis Willingham - Sounds too similar to Dan Green. We don't need any reminders that he voice Knuckles.

The direction they took with Knuckles starting with Green complements his role in the story: forced devolution.

Wow, these are the guys who've played Knuckles over the years? Funny, when I think Knuckles I always pictured an Australian or a Caribbean guy voicing him. Ah well.
My favorites are Scott and Travis because I think they find a good balance between tough guy and laid back teen.

Ryan was pretty cool in Shuffle, proving the man has a lot of range to make both of the characters he was playing sound nothing alike. I also like how "stern black guy" his voice sounded. This may be the closest to an ethnic Knuckles I'm going to get :(

Bill and Ian are pretty good as a young cartoon Knuckles. No complaints.

Dan Green...well I'm sort of right there with Edork42. I like him in a guilty pleasurish way because it's so hilarious how much of a blatant Piccolo knock off 4kids was trying to make Knuckles out to be, so they picked Dan. Nothing against the guy, I just can never take him seriously.
Knuckles: SHUT UP!

Michael was pretty boring, I'm not gonna lie. He was so monotone it sounded like he was narrating all the time and every time Knuckles got angry he just sounded so fake.

Dan Green and Travis Willingham.

Both are AMAZING voice actors for Knuckles! They make him sound like a tough guy, which suits his character with his large, spiky fists and all.

I'm GIANT Knuckles fan so I'm very picky when it comes to choosing which is better. But I gotta say, with all the new voice actors Sega got for the Sonic franchise, Knuckles' new voice is surprisingly impressive compared to the other characters' new voices (Amy and Shadow... blegh) I mean, I think Travis did an awesome job! He almost sounds like Dan, but less gruff and scratchy, which is a kudo point for me. In fact, I believe he may even do a ever better job than Dan Green in the future (ya' know, whenever Knuckles' role in games becomes more significant and he get's some decent lines.)

My vote goes out to Travis!

Michael sounds bit generic as Knuckles. His performance is decent but just non-rememberable overall. Its a good thing he was only in one game, otherwise I think Knuckles would have been forgotten easily.

Scott brings in a different spin compared to his successors. He brings in a very confident Knuckles which fits pretty well considering that Knuckles at the time was a bit different than today.

I'm going to flat out said that every time I hear Dan Green as Knuckles, I expect him to say "You've just activated my trap card. :P" Jokes aside, he really does a good job as Knuckles as he is one of the few NYC voice actors who was great from the start. I do think he sounds a bit too angry when he speaks though not enough to make it ruin his performance.

Travis has a lot of similarities to Dan Green though I wouldn't call it a carbon copy. You can detect the difference between the two where as Dan is better angry while Travis is more smug which in this case isn't a bad thing as he is suppose to be a friendly rival to Sonic.

I'm going to have to give both Dan Green and Travis a tie as they are both equally good as Knuckles.

@Edork42 In terms of video games I like Travis, Scott, and Ryan the best. To me they showed a lot of charm and charisma in their roles.

Dan Green came off to me as a terrible over actor and his voice sounded too gruff and deep making Knuckles always sound like he had to take a shit. So he was basically a poor man's Christopher Sabat.

Micheal McGaharn was a very bland and unmemorable zombie. He dragged down every scene he was in in SA1.

Ian Corlett's take fits his Knuckles' design, but Scott Drier and Dan Green fit theirs equally as well. So it's a three way tie between them.

Bill Wise is terrible, Michael McGraham is painfully wooden in the role, Ryan Drummond was just filling in, and Travis Willingham is doing a Dan Green impression.

I gave my vote to Travis Willingham.

As pretty much everyone below me has said, Travis & Dan sound pretty much identical. The only differences I hear (albeit, differences that are vague as all hell) is that Travis is less gruff & a bit higher-pitched than Dan is.

Knuckles is meant to be 16 years old, right? Travis makes Knuckles sound like his exact age. Dan sounds slightly older (like an 18 or 19 year old Knuckles).

Scott Dreier was a bit too laid-back when he was he supposed to be edgy, whereas to contrast, Dan Green was a bit too edgy when he was supposed to be laid-back.

Travis Willingham succesfully combined Scott Dreier's laid-back tone with Dan Green's edgy tone (although he's essentially just imitating Dan Green, which is a bit lazy IMO).

It still, to this day, scares the absolute bloody crap out of me just how similar (well, voice-wise, at any rate) Dan & Travis are.....

#1 - Travis Willingham. (Tiny Miniskirts FTW!)
#2 - Scott Dreier. ("Wada-wada-wada!" - Knuckles' digging noises in SA2)
#3 - Dan Green (It's time to duel!!)

That's a good way to view Travis's Knuckles voice. He makes Knuckles sound a bit laid back, like Scott did, but also edgy like Dan did. That's the direction Travis should go with for Knuckles, but I do wish he'd stop imitating Dan Green's voice.

That's the only flaw I have with an otherwise decent voice for Knuckles.

Ian James Corlett- It's alright for the animated series standards but I wouldn't picture him as Knuckles now
Bill Wise- Copy and paste from the last one though he was better than other cast in the OVA
Michael McGaharn- His performance in Adventure was mediocre at best, though I wonder why he doesn't come after that game
Scott Drier- He is my all time favorite Knuckles. I love his deep, tough, and laid back attitude he has for Knuckles, which made me think Knuckles was the black Sonic character in the series, next to Rouge.
Dan Green- He was pretty good as Knuckles, pretty much he was one of the 4kids actors that started good in the series. Though the only problem I had (and I think this the writers fault from Sonic X), was that he made him sound angry and stupid, which kind of upset ted me as a kid watching the show; but nonetheless I'm glad he was chosen to be Drier's successor.
Travis Willingham- basically sounds just like Dan Green only higher pitch, not that I'm saying it's bad, just hoping he would do his own voice of Knuckles, but regardless, he sounds good and I welcome him along with the new voices.

Though each of them has brought in the table and gave us what they got, my favorite will always be Scott Drier's, to me, his voice and personality is the definition of Knuckles.

Ian James Corlett - It's okay. To be fair, this is the very first [English] Knuckles voice (BTW, did anyone else catch the Good Son reference?).
Bill Wise - Better than Ian, but, like with all of the other OVA actors, I can't decide how much I like this guy.
Michael McGaharn - The voice is okay, but he's REALLY monotone.
Ryan Drummond - Once again, the voice is okay, but the acting is a bit better.
Scott Drier - Better. Though I'm kind of mixed on his acting.
Dan Green - He's Dan Green, what more can I say? His acting is even good in Sonic 06, IMO.
Travis Willingham - Pretty much Dan Green, but at a higher pitch... which to be honest, makes me bring up the point of why they even bothered to hire a different actor.

Scott Dreier is the best for me, he sounds like a tough guy, a wise guardian, and a wisecracker all in one, perfect for Knuckles.

Dan Green is alright, but I don't think it really fits Knuckles, that combined with the fact that its the exact same tone he uses for his roles just doesn't make him the ideal Knuckles voice for me. Not saying he's bad, but I don't think he's that great either.

Travis sounds like he's trying too hard to sound like Dan Green, only his voice is way too high pitched for it.

Ryan Drummond does the second best for me, he sounds pretty stern. Maybe a little too stern though.

Michael sounds like he doesn't have enough emotion in his voice.

Bill Wise and Ian James Corlett...to be fair, the latter sounds like he could make a good younger sounding Knuckles, but both are pretty terrible in the role.

@enerjak I guess Michael McGaharn was unavailable, so they just picked Ryan Drummond on the spot since he has a really deep voice. I don't see what him also playing Sonic has to do with anything, since as long as you have range, you can make them sound different and nobody will suspect a thing. I'd say he succeeded, because for a stand-in he made a pretty good Knuckles.

I ready somewhere that Michael McGaharn unexpectedly left the crew during Sonic Adventure's development. Consequently, Ryan had to step in as Knuckles.

I'm not 100% sure though, and it may not be entirely accurate.

@TheUltimatePhantom1 That can't be true. Michael voiced Jansen in Lost Odyssey (a 2008 game) and stuck around a few message boards around that time. He's still alive, because if he wasn't it'd have been reported.

@TheUltimatePhantom1 According to what I read, McGaharn didn't die, but rather, he suddenly left the Sonic Shuffle voice crew, and, as a result, Ryan Drummond had to step in to voice Knuckles. Before Sonic Adventure 2, they were able to get Scott Dreier to be the new "permanent" Knuckles.

People are seriously missing the point of Knuckles' voice as well as his character.

So what if Dan Green has the most fitting voice for Knuckles?
That doesn't change the fact that the character should be treated and portrayed with more respect.

Yes, we get it. Knuckles gets tricked at times and Scott Dreier voiced him in ONE game where he wasn't very smart. That only shows that Scott Dreier is versatile.

It doesn't matter anyway what voice he has so long as people are aware that Knuckles is an excellent character with an original backstory.

Well people tend to find the character in different ways

Of course I believe Knuckles is Independent,Strong,Brave, wise but also at some times Gullible, short tempered and confused at things too

Everyone has an opinion on the character...not everyone will favour Knuckles as their number one character but others will...as well as the character's voice too

Still, when you look at horribly written games like Sonic rush, SATBK, and Sonic Colors, it's easy to see that Sega has no idea what they're doing with Knuckles. He deserves to be made playable in more games with more respectable roles.

@LRoboto I think Knuckles should get his own game. Yeah, I know there was Knuckles' Chaotix, but did anyone actually own a 32X to play i?

Actually, a voice-acted, 2.5d remake/sequel would be awesome. If Travis Willingham evolves his voice to sound less like Dan Green and play Knuckles as the calm, laidback warrior he is, it'd seal the deal.

I think it'd be an awesome idea for Sonic Team to make a game starring Knuckles and Shadow; maybe "Shadow & Knuckles" (like Sonic & Knuckles of 1994), which might provide an explanation where Shadow and Knuckles were during Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors (They were confirmed to be in Unleashed, but were scrapped).

Dan and Travis do sound similar but they both have a few differences Notice how Dan sounds more Edgy,Free and Gruff at times and While Travis now His performances in Colours and Free Riders he sounded less gruff and more calmer But then at a few times notice he will sound very high pitched when getting angry or yelling which doesn't work for me Which is why I have mixed feelings mianly "Meh" for Travis But for me They are similar but not exactly the same as I noticed a lot of differences there :)

In my opinion I thought Dan Green was the best Knuckles voice some people say That he makes Knuckles sound angry all the time but he really doesn't it's just most of the time and Here's the thing Knuckles had major roles back then with The Master Emerald getting broken into pieces etc etc....And working together with Sonic and Tails(sometimes Amy and Cream) mainly in games like Heroes, The first few adventures

But have a think about that was was Knuckles like in Past games he was tricked a few times but not much Even the very first when he Appeared....He was tricked in Sonic Battle I remember who voiced him then.....Knuckles displayed this way before the 2005-10 Games and Sonic X

It's only now That SEGA Have been starting to make Knuckles act like this more He is Gullible and can be easily tricked at most times while He is also smart at times and angry at times They mix in together except the Angry side has been shown a little too much that's all.

I don't think it was Mentally Disabled Portrayal it was just used a little too much and it still is There are some games where Knuckles has a important role and sounds more calm games like Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, Sonic Rivals 2 and others but I'm not really that picky I think he was awesome in all games Notice he can transform his voice well as he played other roles Vector,Prof Pickle and Mephiles ...and I wouldn't say Sonic X Fan Geeks Lets just say Sonic X Fans and The New Generations, The new Sonic fans but not only them There are a mix of Old and New fans who like Both The Original and 4Kids Cast

I wasn't keen on Scott Dreier as he sounded too deep and generic for me but hey it's just my opinion a few people will disagree but hey that's how it goes...

But I respect both your opinions No problem guys...I'm not too keen on Travis either but maybe in time he can improve I'm actually trying to focus on The JP VAs In previous games I'd admit I'd like to hear them just for the fun to see how different it is compared to The English VAs I like to see what else they can do in the future and They have stayed here for a while so :)

The only Voices I like for the new English cast SO Far Are Vector (Keith Silverstien), Orbot (Kirk Thornton) and of course Eggman (Mike Pollock) :D

I'll admit I liked the 4Kids Cast a lot They will always be the Truesonic voices to me not matter what and even if they are replaced I still liked all of them, And yeah about Knuckles I'd say I don't mind the way Knuckles is being portrayed but perhaps he could have another major role it doesn't need to be the Master Emerald again just something similar to Chronicles and Zero Gravity But he needs appear in more main games instead of spin offs That's just what I think anyway :)

Dan Green and Travis sound the same to where I actually think it's the same guy (when it really isin't) but geez they sound so alike that the casting crew got lazy here. Dreir has been and wiill always be Knuckles to me even though we got fan geeks and kids that watched SOnic x prefer Dan Green and the angry yet mentally disabled portrayal of knuckles.(and his advertisement in SOnic 06 with trading cards)

@Sonic_Blaze Maybe the casting crew thought Sonic fans love Dan so much that they thought it was good to have Travis sound like him for Knuckles. Wow, Knuckles has had a big variety of different voices during the series, ranging from the medium-high pitched (Ian James Corlett and Bill Wise) to the low and deep (Scott Drier, Michael McGaharn and Ryan D) and to the gruff, but laid back types ( Dan Green and Travis Willingham). As a result, there probably will be diverse opinions on all these voices (though I think people will more likely agree that Knuckles' first voices (Ian and Bill) weren't really the best). That being said, I'll say what I think of each.

1. Scott Drier

I like Scott the most overall. He brought in a voice that was laid-back, but also badass at the same time. There were a few times when Scott made Knuckles tough-sounding as well. The only fault that he had was his acting was stale sometimes, but this was mostly apparent in Sonic Adventure 2 when he first voiced Knuckles. He definitely improved in the later games he was in. Of all the original voice cast, he was one of my favorites, and I do miss him a little.

2. Dan Green

Even though I do think Dan Green's a good actor, I never warmed up to him being Knuckles. I just don't picture Knuckles with an overly gruff/constipated sounding voice. Now there are times when Dan does make Knuckles a bit laid-back and serious, here and there, but most of the time he just gives Knuckles a voice that sounds like Knuckles takes steriods while lifting weights. I'll admit that my ranking of Dan is more preference more than how good he actually is.

I think Dan did fine and Knuckles, and I know a lot of Sonic fans loved him doing the role. I can respect that. I just don't think he's the best choice as Knuckles, personally, and I felt a couple other voice actors at 4kids, like Marc Diraison (Zolo from 4kids One Piece), would have been better choices than Knuckles. But that's in the past. Dan Green did a respectable job as Knuckles, he just wasn't my preference.

3. Travis Willingham

Eh...I'm not very sure about this voice. It's basically a very similar voice to Dan Green's portrayl of Knuckles. But I noticed this one's not quite as gruff as Green's was. Travis seems to bring the hippie side of Knuckles a bit more, while still keeping his toughness intact. That's fine and all, since Knuckles is a character of both traits. His voice is medium pitched and, again, it's not something I've really warmed up to. But I'm willing to give him more time and see how he performs in later games.

4. Ryan Drummond

Ryan was only used in Sonic Shuffle, and it's mostly because Micheal McGaharn retired from the role beforehand. I think his voice was pretty good. Unfortunately, he doesn't really show how he could truly act as Knuckles, as his acting was so bland in Shuffle (like most of the other actors in that game). So that's why I don't rank him high on this list. Based on voice alone, I like him more than Dan and Travis, but his acting is what makes him weaker than the other two.

5. Micheal McGaharn

Sonic Adventure's voice cast, as a whole, was mediocre in terms of acting performance. Micheal is a good example of having rather dull acting in that game. His Knuckles voice was not bad, but not particularly great. Some of his lines had no emotion whatsoever. It sounded like Micheal recorded his lines at night after working hard all day. Simply put, he wasn't all that good, and I don't mind that he left.

6. Bill Wise

I don't have much to say about this one, except that it's very unfitting for Knuckles. His acting isn't all that bad, but it wasn't memorable either. I can only remember him for saying that stupid line: "MY HATS ON FIRE! HELP!"

7. Ian James Corlett

Dear god. This is NOT what I pictured Knuckles to sound like. This is the kind of voice I'd picture Nack the Weasel having than Knuckles. I never saw much of Sonic Underground, so I don't have much else to comment on this one.

In order to douse Scott Dreier supporters, some people bring up Sonic Battle. Lets not forget that sonic battle was released AFTER sonic X came and ruined Knuckles the echidna.

I'm aware that Knuckles had the "getting tricked" aspect on him since his debut but games like SA2, Sonic Heroes, and Sonic Chronicles have shown that Knuckles is capable of graciously learning from his mistakes. He's every bit as fast and skilled as characters like Sonic, Shadow, and Blaze and he should be treated as such. Scott Dreier forever.

Scott Dreier wins this. Knuckles is supposed to be the down-to-earth member of Team Sonic. Yes, he's tough, but he's also calm and laid-back. Scott nailed that. Michael McGaharn is second, for the same reasons. Ryan Drummond was also a good soundalike.

As for Dan Green, don't get me wrong, I like his Knuckles. When it came to making Knuckles sound tough, he was the man. The problem was that he overplayed Knuckles' tough side. He could sound comical, and somewhat natural, but at the same time his voice was always edgy. Travis Willingham follows him up. Sounds similar, but since Free Riders is light-hearted, there's no way this is the full extent of what he can do. I really want to hear more, and I hope that he uses his Sideswipe voice. That would be perfect, since Sideswipe loves a good fight, but is still a "cool guy" inside, just like Knuckles.

Ian Corlett and Bill Wise? Eh... too nerdy. And vaguely Southern.

To be fair SEGA/Sonic Team didn't give Knuckles any serious parts or roles during Dan Green's time He never got any important storylines Knuckles was only in Spin offs which annoyed me he never starred in a main game not since Sonic 06 either I'd say if you look at Most Sonic X Episodes and Sonic Rivals 2 Story (PSP) I'd say those were his best performances working on Knuckles' mature and kind side he didn't play his tough side as much but he had a mixture of both parts He also did a good job with both Knuckles and Sir Gawain in BK....Despite that I still liked Dan Green best even if he was working on his tough side most of the time

Knuckles was also scrapped in Unleashed along with Shadow that really disappointed me cause I thought Dan Green would get more time working on his calm but rough and cocky side too Shame really :/ plus you would of got to play as Knuckles and Shadow too....Also this would of been one of Knuckles appearance in a main game since Sonic 06

Dreier: He's not great, but he's not bad either. He does give him the sound of an athlete. But it just doesn't sound tough enough for it to belong to a character named "Knuckles".

Willingham: Wow. He and Dan Green have such similar voices. No wonder they chose him. But I'd have to wait for more voice samples from him.

Green: He barely takes first. Not because his performance was better, but because he's freakin' Dan Green! He just captured the tough guy attitude without even trying.

I know he said this at Sonicon and I think it was very kind and generous of Scott to help Dan but not only did he help Dan also did some research himself on previous games to study and crack Knuckles' voice and I think he did a pretty good job and yes he did audition for Eggman at first but I'm glad they gave him Knuckles instead :)

I think Scott was good most times and he portrayed Knuckles well but he lacked a few things...he was too deep at most times, the voice was generic at times too but he would have improved on this a bit if he was given more time that's why he comes second on my list for now

Dan was my favourite out of all of them he also said Knuckles was one of his favourite roles along with Yugi

Hmm.. it's hard to decide. See, they're all good for the style they're aiming for. I like Corlette and Bill's evenly as they're similar for that style and I found it fitting at the time with Knuckles being very similar to Sonic. So it made sense for his voice to be similar but different from Sonic's.

Michael, Ryan and Scott all sound similar but Michael sounds like Sean Schemmel, Ryan sounds like a bolder Knuckles which is also cool and Scott is my favorite. It's kinda deep and firm like Ryan's but also smoother and softer like Michael's. It's also more laid back, fitting for a guy who sits in front of a rock all day (until he met Sonic).

I like Dan Green too just not as much. I liked it better in the first few eps of Sonic X when it was a little deeper and less gruff and it would've been better if he used his godly Yami voice for it (it sounds similar to the SA1/Shuffle/SA2 voice, mostly similar to Ryan's so it woulda fit in) but even then I still would've liked Scott best.

If anyone still can't see why... well SOME are 4kids haters, SOME are just Scott lovers, SOME actually give reasons if you LISTEN TO THEM.

As for Travis, it's definately not WORSE so it's like Dan's but softer, which I like. Still not as much as Scott, but a minor improvement.

As far as I can see, they can all act, just in their own styles. =)

To add on to truesonic's SPOT ON review, I have to say to people who say Kncukles was always angry and gullible when Dan Green started playing him... Think about it. What was Knuckles like in Sonic Battle? And who's voice did he have? And where did it say that Knuckles NEVER used to have a temper or would never get tricked like an idiot? Knuckles displayed that in his FIRST game!

So if you dont like Dan Green thats fine, but please... Come up with a better excuse then what I just explained. Its sad. And dont delude yourself into thinking Knuckles was anything opposite of his personality. He's been the same always.

Also on a side note, give a little bad credit to voice directors, they take a part into the acting part of voice acting

7) Bill Wise

Dan Green was the Ultimate Knuckles voice for me He gave Knuckles the rock, hard and edgy voice that Knuckles should have and he made him dumb at times which other people like and the angry voice was used most of the time which was funny at times XD He put his heart and soul into the character deep down I think he really cared for the character and he did give Knuckles a lot of emotion

Especially the chemistry between Rouge and knuckles (Caren and Dan) it really worked well for them more than (Scott and Lani) but they were good too

And to the people saying he makes Knuckles sound angry 24/7 should really listen carefully Play the games, Watch the Sonic X episodes and listen carefully he does not sound angry all of the time just most of the time It's the V/A director's fault plus script writers not giving him enough and more serious lines and he's not the only one who suffered like this a lot of the other V/As did too so please listen carefully before shouting out things like that...

It's been great having Dan these last 7 years and I will miss him He will always be my Knuckles to me (Also Vector and minor characters) ^_^

Scott was also a really good Knuckles he was spot on and the acting was really well done the only problem with him was that he was too deep and generic he should made Knuckles sound a bit more edgy and free But he acted well like Dan did

Michael and Ryan suffered the same problem too but they were more deep than Scott, Michael sounded a bit like a narrator and it was a bit too much but he could act a bit at least and for Ryan well he was okay but same problem but he didn't add anything special in Knuckles so they both tie for me

Bill and Ian were my least favourites Ian made Knuckles sound too high and hyper active and Bill didn't make Knuckles sound how he is supposed to be like Didn't like their performances

Travis doesn't sound exactly like Dan but only similar but trying to imitate him proves that Dan is the better actor and I've noticed at some times He sounds almost like Dan but then at the next minute he sounds high pitched like he's swallowed hellium or somebody screaming loud or like somebody on a period and almost near Amy's new voice XD He needs more time to work on it but I think he shouldn't try too hard but for now I'm not sure about him for now.

I'm not saying I like him but I don't hate him either just not sure about his Knuckles' voice...

Mike Pollock actually moved to Los Angeles recently, so he was able to stay.

@ncz good point, but what about Mike Polleck? Hes still with the 4kids group and he is still Eggman. Dan Green and the rest of 4kids should be brought back, they were the best!!!

I believe the reason they replaced him is because Dan Green works in New York, but Sega's new cast of voice actors are all Los Angeles based. Since Travis Willingham is in Los Angeles and sounds just like Dan Green, they probably decided it was easier to hire him than go to the trouble of bringing Dan back. (He'd either need to do all his work in NY, or he'd have to come to LA.)

Dan Green hands down. That guy is a legend.

I don't know why they replaced Dan Green when the new guy sounds so similar to him. But he still doesn't have that same depth.

BRING BACK DAN GREEN!

I dunno, Travis sounds like someone who could perform Knuckles's voice perfectly. Green doesn't fit correctly, Wise wasn't good or bad at all, and Scott Drier matches up to Travis. In fact, he's the voice I grew up with... That's the double truth, ruth!

Travis is amazing and sounds so similar to Dan Green looking forward to what he does in the future But to me Dan Green will always be the true Knuckles voice in my eyes

But we will see what happens for now...

Ok Michael had a narrator voice for Knuckles so dats out x.x, Dan made Knuckles angry all the time no lie there =\ Knuckles is supposed to be calm and cool when he's not fighting!! -.-", Ryan should stick as Sonic x.x his tone as Knuckles was wayyyy off but Scott captured that sly, cool and confident tone that Knuckles should have and even when he's pissed, still sounds great :] Scott gets my vote ;D

Ryan Drummond, Michael McGaharn, and Scott Drier all sound the same, but I perfer Dan Green because he really gives him some feeling into his performance. Plus, he makes him sound active everyday. The three that sound the same, make him dormant. (In other words, they make him sound like he's boring)

@lonewolf155 Why? Ryan Drummond made him sound like a knight and Dan Green just plain sucks. MICHAEL MCGAHARN AND SCOTT DREIER (I've really gotta stop saying this -_-) 4EVAR!

Corlett was by far the worst, just ugh. Bill Wise was ok, like most of the movie voices I think it worked for the movie, but it wouldn't work for the games. Makes sense in my head. :P Michael, Ryan, and Scott sound just about the same, but I'd probably give Scott the edge. Dan makes him sound angry all the time. I'll go with Scott.

@Z

You sound totally delusional if you think that Dreier is a better voice or a better actor.

His Knuckles voice doesn't sound like his Yami Yugi voice, his Yugi voice... Dan Green has plenty of range, it's a director's fault if he doesn't get the room to stretch his legs.

@Kaiserneko

The same can be said for Dan Green, he uses the exact same voice for all his characters, talk about an untalented generic overrated hack.

Dan Green cannot act in the slightest, Scott Dreier was a much better voice for Knuckles hands down.

nostalgia and 4kids bandwagen hate for the most part.

For me I like Dan Green Knux but hes not my favorite. I like Ian's more light hearted and goofy take on the character, but hey that's just me I guess

Dan Green would be the best if he didn't make Knux sound angry 24/7. This is the same mistake 4Kids made with Roronoa Zoro--they mistook the "tough guy" image for an "always angry" image.

a little surprised no VA attempted an Australian accent, given that an echidna is a native Aussie creature.
