Voice Compare » Shrek » Prince Charming

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Prince Charming with sound clips and images.
Prince Charming is one of the primary antagonists from the "Shrek" franchise. He is a vain, pompous and arrogant prince, one who often resorts to behaving like a child (no doubt due to the constant molly-coddling from his mother, The Fairy Godmother). All Prince Charming wants to do is marry Princess Fiona and become king of Far Far Away.

EDITOR'S OPINION

Rupert Everett nails Prince Charming's attitude. The suave, but insecure boy who thinks he's a man. As with the other replacements in most of the video game adaptations of Shrek, Keith Ferguson's impersonation isn't really that bad, but it's not really anything spectacular either. Randy Crenshaw 'voiced' Charming in the "Far Far Away Idol" short, and actually does a pretty good job as the singing Charming - very similar to what one might think Rupert's singing voice would be like. And Sean Bishop voiced Charming in a very minor role in the Scared Shrekless television special, and despite not having a lot to work with, he manages to sound relatively similar to Rupert. James Arnold Taylor also voiced Charming in some of the video games, and does a similarly 'adequate' job.

Overall, Rupert's taking my vote.

Rupert gets my vote it's less grating than the other four

Though Randy is better than the speaking impressions

Sean is in the middle

Of the two video games impressions Keith is better(but sheesh look at that picture of Charming on Keith's clip! It looks worse than Super Slam and Carnival is on the Wii while Super Slam is on the Gamecube)

James is the worst for me but he did have one very funny line during the time he voiced Charming 'Over my muscular and heavenly lotion dead body!"

I think Rupert Everett is great as Prince Charming, but I thought Keith Ferguson and Randy Crenshaw were decent replacements. Everyone else sucked though.

Rupert's the original, but among the rest,

1) Keith Ferguson: He did a good convincing impression
2) Sean Bishop: Sounds like Rupert too
3) James Arnold Taylor

Changed my mind Keith doesn't suck at all. I don't know what I was saying in that last post though Sean is ok I guess.

Rupert Everett is first place for the character, with Keith Ferguson and Randy Crenshaw tied for second place. Sean Bishop and James Arnold Taylor just sound awful, IMO.

Rupert Number1 with Sean 2nd.

James & Keith just suck.

Randy doesn't count because he does the singing.

@Ross123 I'd personally switch Sean and Keith. I think Keith sounds closer to Rupert's vocal performance than Sean, who had a similar VOICE but the delivery of his lines was atrocious.

Randy and Sean did the best jobs at imitating Rupert for the small roles they had.

I wonder how Randy would have done as Charming's speaking voice.

@jonhardwick We can't add JAT since we don't have the games in the the database but a clip for when we do have them will help.

@jonhardwick Not an admin just repeating what I was told. I don't ask which games just stated that in order to include JAT we need either the Shrek 2 or Smash and Crash page to be made both of which are not on the site at this time. Also who is Taylor? Gingy's pages says he has only been voiced by Conrad Vernon. You may reply but you should put all info tou tell me in the forums.

@jonhardwick Yeah, if you can get some good quality clips to use, I'd gladly take them. You can feel free to post them in the Shrek voice compare thread.

@pete I'm actually working on adding the Shrek 2 video game as we speak (jonhardwick's comment got me off of my butt, and I've managed to get most of the characters), so the Charming compare can be updated.

@TylerMirage I Got the SuperSlam Clips because alot of the Shrek 2 LPS had players either skipping cutscnes or talking over them.

@jonhardwick Sweet. Do you want to put them in the Shrek VC? Or even send me a message with the links for the clips, because then I can start working on getting images from Shrek Super Slam, since it hasn't been added either.

Wasn't even aware of this one lol. I guess posting Shrek's Carnival Craze links and Scared Shrekless ones helped lol. As with all VA's you can't really tell the difference except in some where comparisons will help with that. Going with Rupert since he's the original and the rest are impressions though not bad ones at all at that.
