Voice Compare » Sengoku Basara » Naoe Kanetsugu
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Naoe Kanetsugu with sound clips and images.
Naoe Kanetsugu is a minor secondary character in the Sengoku Basara series whom has been around since the 2nd installment of the series. Naoe is a regular soldier in the Uesugi army whom appears to be a normal generic soldier in gameplay but he does have a certain distinguishing feature namely his personality. Naoe has a very bombastic and boisterous personality as he loves to claim that he is invincible in fact his battle cry is "I AM INVINCIBLE!" however he is normally defeated as soon as he enters the battle often in comical ways. Needless to say in the Sengoku Basara series Naoe is one of the more apparent Joke Characters in the series and when he does appear he normally only appears very briefly to get knocked out shortly before he enters the battle (but to be fair at least he is good at surviving all the attacks he has been through).

EDITOR'S OPINIONToday on the Sengoku Basara VC section we have a little something for this "Invincible" man in the Uesugi Army... NAOE KANETSUGU! In the Sengoku Basara anime, Naoe occasionally appeared and was voiced by Jim Johnson. I admit that the fact that Jim's voice for the role was slightly deep did feel a little strange at first but it did kind of grow on me pretty quickly (I suppose Jim was trying to make Naoe sound manly which is not a bad idea but it did seem a little strange at first). Jim does a pretty good job playing Naoe as the Bombastic comic relief that he is so its a pretty good example of the voice work in the anime.
For the 3rd Sengoku Basara game, Tony Oliver gets to play the role of Naoe here. Now Tony's voice for the role felt very natural as it does suit someone whom tries to be a noble powerful warrior even though he is goofy comic relief and of course I could say the same thing about his performance. While Naoe only appears briefly Tony's performance for the role was very suiting and felt a bit more memorable, as it is a good example of his work and a fine example of the voice work in the game. Overall both of these guys are good as Naoe but I am clearly going for Tony Oliver here.
