Rurouni Kenshin Rurouni Kenshin

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Shinta with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Rurouni Kenshin

Before Kenshin became  the legendary man slayer he was just an innocent orphen child named Shinta until his life was saved by Seijiro Hiko...

In the sony dub,of Rurouni Kenshin from the late 90s named "Samurai X."  Shinta is voiced by Brianne Sidall (who also voiced "Yoshi" in the sony dub)

When ADV licensed the Rurouni Kenshin OVAs, they used their secondary studio in Austin for these english dubs.  Katherine Catmull had voiced Shinta in Rurouni Kenshin:  Trust and Betrayal, and later Kaoru in Reflection.

Mona Marshall was originally cast for the role of Kenshin Himura in the Mediablasters english dub for Rurouni Kenshin, but Richard Cansino was handed the part for the series instead.  Mona Marshall did however voice Shinta

I'm torn between who I liked better; both Mona and Brianne excel. They sound convincing without falling into the trap of "I'm a woman pretending to be a boy" while emoting properly.

Now Katherine Catmull… yes, she IS the weakest of the three by far. Part of it may be down to bad voice direction, but she sounds very monotonous and detached from her part, even for someone who's trying to be emotionally scared. Unfortunate that Monster Island misfired with this title.

@HienFan It's just me but they should have kept Mona as the adult Kenshin, it'd be pretty close to Mayo

Mona and Brianne are pretty equal. Both sound very convincing as boys while keeping appropriate emotion and characterization. Katherine however, sounded very wooden, and not masculine enough.

@PurpleWarrior13 Kenshin was never exactly a model of masculinity in the first place,Saito and Sonosuke better fulfill that role. Also,in the context of the OVA scene and the overall characterization of Kenshin in the OVA Catmull`s performance makes perfect sense. Also, her performance is withdrawn, not wooden.
