Voice Compare » Resident Evil » Marvin Branagh
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Marvin Branagh with sound clips and images.
Marvin Branagh was one of the secondary protagonists of the Resident Evil series whom made his debut in Resident Evil 2. Marvin was one of the police officers in the Raccoon City Police Department whom did try to gather and rally any surviving police officer in the station unfortunately despite his best efforts the station became overran with zombies and became a death trap. Sadly Marvin was wounded during his attempts to fight off the zombies but he has tried to aid any other survivors in the station as much as he can despite his injuries. Before the outbreak occurred in Raccoon City he was going to be the commanding officer of Leon S. Kennedy and in the prototype version of Resident Evil 2 which is Resident Evil 1.5 Marvin was going to have a bigger role in the storyline but his role got smaller in Resident Evil 2.
EDITOR'S OPINIONToday on the Resident Evil VC section we have a little something for this valiant cop whom is one of Raccoon City's finest... MARVIN BRANAGH! We will begin with Resident Evil 2 (in which Marvin was one of the only characters in the game to not get in the VA credits, heck he wasn't even referred to by name at the time). Anyways while Marvin's voice in RE2 does sound very injured (even though it can sound a little overdone at times) but at least the performance here was not bad though as it does suit Marvin's attempts at trying to aid our heroes as much as possible. The overall voice work for Marvin in RE2 was not bad but it was an okay example of the voice work in Resident Evil 2.
In Resident Evil Outbreak File #2, Marvin occasionally appeared and was voiced by Beau Billingslea. I must say that Beau's voice for the role surprised me as it doesn't sound like the voices he normally does but while Beau's voice for the role is a bit higher than I thought it would be it still is a decent fit for the role. Beau's performance for the role is pretty good as it does suit Marvin's heroic personality well enough. If anything else Beau's work in the game does help prove that he does have vocal range (since his Marvin Branagh, Mark Wilkins and Jim Chapman voices do sound considerably different.)
Last but not least is in Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles Marvin had pretty much the same role in this version as he did in the original Resident Evil 2 in which Lex Lang takes over the role here. Lex does make a pretty decent attempt at trying to do a moderately low rough voice for the role which is a decent fit for the role here. But I do like on how Lex did try to play the role of Marvin as someone whom does try to stay cheerful despite his rather unpleasant condition. Anyways this is a pretty good example of Lex's work and is a pretty good example of the voice work in the game. Overall neither one of the voices here seem all that perfect for the role but all 3 of the performances seem decent enough though.
