Voice Compare » Resident Evil » Jill Valentine
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Jill Valentine with sound clips and images.
(Note: While certain sites claimed that Kathleen Barr voiced Jill Valentine in the PS2 game "Under The Skin" it is highly uncertain if Jill actually spoke at all in that game.)
Jill Valentine is the original Heroine of the Resident Evil series whom has been around since the first game in the series. Jill was formally a member of S.T.A.R.S until the Arklay Mountains Mansion Incident in which she fought off various Bioweapons made by Umbrella with the likes of Barry Burton and Chris Redfield, in which afterwards she has worked with the latter to fight the monstrous B.O.W's in the world. Jill is known for other things in the Resident Evil series such as being the first of the main protagonists to reprise said role in one of the sequels (Resident Evil 3 to be precise) and has had more than one substantially different look over the course of the series.

EDITOR'S OPINION
Happy Halloween everyone! Today on the Resident Evil VC section we take a look at the original heroine of the series... JILL VALENTINE! Since this is a fairly large VC I will at least say this much on how I am not certain who I am going with here as most of these ladies did really well with this role here. The weakest performance here is Una whom was the original VA of Jill here but even then it wasn't too bad. (While Una did try to have a rather emotional performance it can come off as a bit overdone in certain ways but to be fair there were worse performances in the original version of RE1.) Overall most of these ladies did rather well in playing Jill as the strong mannered woman that she is without making her too stoic here so I am not sure who I am going with here.Pokejedservo

I really don't have a clear favorite; they're all actually pretty good. Though if I had to choose, it would be between Catherine Disher, Patricia Ja Lee, and Michelle Ruff.
I've been meaning to ask though, just what is that thing on Jill's chest in MvC3?

@pokemastanumba1 It's a device that injects P30 into her body (that's a fictional performance enhancer, think steroids). Wesker used it in RE5 to make Jill into a supersoldier.

@pokemastanumba1 It's an excuse to look at her chest

@Music Meister LOL! I guess Capcom has to resort to exploiting their video game characters as sex objects in order to keep them from losing profits (why do you think that in U/MvC3, every male has six-pack abs, and every female has breasts the size of basketballs?)

I like Catherine because she sounded determined and strong willed (Not that the others didnt) and her voice sounds quite unqiue from the others.

I have a hard time choosing between Patricia and Cahterine. Those two are undoubtedly the best, but both brings a different aspect to Jill. Catherine brings the more serious tone, Patricia makes her sound more like the typical Jill I think of. So I think I'm going to hand this one to Patricia.

Patricia Ja Lee is my favorite. With that said, in almost every new game Jill appears in, she's voiced by someone else. I just wish Capcom would be more consistent with her voice.

This is a great voice compare, the 2 best performances here are, Catherine Disher and Patricia Ja Lee! I think Catherine was great as Jill in RE: 3 as her voice was dramatic, which defined a determined Jill. Then there's Patricia Ja Lee, who I believe is the voice of Jill in RE: 5, whose voice work is relaxed yet reflects Jill's mentality (relief) as she is finally reunited with Chris. It's ashame, Capcom replaced her, I think she should've continued as Jill in RE: Revelations! That's all I can say about this voice compare, as both are great as the voice of Jill (in her respective mind states)

ANDERSON - Nothing terribly memorable, but she gets the job done.
DISHER - Essentially an imitation of Kavanaugh with improved acting and delivery. Not bad.
LEE - Sounded very young, interesting, had great acting, and she seemed to really fit the character best for me.
PLATT - Surprisingly close to Lee, but a tad matured, and very strong delivery.
WAHLGREN - Nothing memorable, but she got the job done. Her voice did suit the character very well.
RUFF - Again, not bad, but also nothing memorable. She sounds a tad aged for the character, and her acting's pretty stale, but otherwise it gets the job done.
