EDITOR'S OPINIONAlright folks here is the 2nd VC for one of the characters from Resident Evil Code Veronica and this time its one of the antagonists namely Alfred Ashford of the Ashford twins (and grandchildren of one of the co-founders of Umbrella). In Alfred's debut which is of course in the aforementioned game "Resident Evil Code Veronica" in which he is voiced by Peter Oldring. While Peter is not a really bad VA in general his work as Alfred is apparently not all that popular due to how "flamboyant" his Alfred voice sounded. While one could understand what Peter was trying to do with this role but his rather flamboyant voice often just sounds a little too silly especially when he gets angry. But to be fair in Peter Oldring's defense his voice and performance does sound a little better when Alfred is a bit more calm but while I have heard substantially worse performances in general let alone this series this is a pretty good example of trying a little too hard in sounding like a regal snob.
In Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles for the Wii in this game's take on Resident Evil Code Veronica, Alfred was voiced by Richard "Kenshin Himura" Cansino and I must say that this is quite an improvement. Richard also tried to go for a young regal tone and was considerably more successful at it. However the main part of Richard's performance is on how insanely sinister that Richard sounded for this role and which really worked for the role here. Its not only one of the better performances in that game but its probably one of Richard's better villainous performances as well. So to make a long story short I am definitely going with Richard Cansino here.
