Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Stimpson 'Stimpy' J. Cat with sound clips and images.
Stimpson J. Cat, often known as simply Stimpy, is a naive but good-natured cat who acts as the partner of Ren Hoek. While he may seem unintelligent at first glance, he is skilled in certain areas such as cooking and inventing. Despite Ren's frequent acts of violence towards him, Stimpy remains his loyal companion.

The Ren & Stimpy Show (1991)
Stimpson Billy West

Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon (2003)
Stimpson Eric Bauza
Eric Bauza

West pulls off Stimpy's simple nature and uplifting demeanor quite well, and more impressively, he manages to make Stimpy sound convincingly naive without delving into stereotypically stupid or "wacky-random" territory. Bauza does a pitch-perfect impersonation of West; you can't even tell it's a different actor, which is actually both the strongest and weakest aspect of Bauza's performance. It is the strongest because it's a great example of Bauza's vocal mimicry skills, but it is the weakest because it's an exact replica of another actor's performance, so he hardly does anything to make the character his own. I'm going with West in first with Bauza a close second.

When I first saw the animatic for 'Life Sucks' I seemed to remember that Eric's Stimpy voice was improving. Shame that cartoon never got made.

Bauza's done good work elsewhere, but this is one of Billy's first iconic roles. He nails every aspect of this character, and it's hilarious to this day. And Bauza's impersonation isn't even that good, in my opinion.

Oliver Feld sounds like neither in the German dub; he gives a typical 'doofus' voice which doesn't quite fit the appearance as much as the voice Billy created, his 'Perky Larry Fine' voice, does. Oliver does do a pretty impressive scream of terror, though.

@BlankSlate As a result, I'd go for Billy as the best, with German dub voice Oliver as a good second and Bauza a fairly decent third.

Ummmm.... Billy West? There really is no contest. Eric is just doing an impression anyways...

@PurpleWarrior13 Yes. There's definitely no contest, as everyone else has said. While Bauza has very impressive mimicry skills, this is just an impression.

Sort of like how all of Bugs Bunny's other VAs just happened to perform impersonations of Mel Blanc's original voice, except for Billy West in Space Jam, since I heard somewhere that his take has a bit of "spin" to it, if you catch my drift.

@Ninjaman15 You're kind of right. In Space Jam, when Bugs shouts 'WE NEED YOUR HELP!!' I definitely heard Billy there, as he shouted a similar thing in a Season 5 'Ren and Stimpy' episode.
