EDITOR'S OPINIONToday on the Ranma 1/2 VC section we have this Amazon from China namely... SHAMPOO! We shall of course start things off with the North American release of the Ranma 1/2 series by Viz and Ocean Studios in which Shampoo is voiced by Cathy Weseluck. Now I know that despite on how Ranma 1/2's dub itself is still pretty renowned the consensus on Cathy's performance is still a bit divisive such as her attempt at the Chinese accent. But I for one am one of those people whom did not mind Cathy's attempt at a Chinese accent for Shampoo, sure its not one of the best attempts at a Chinese accent but its not that bad really. Anyways as for Cathy's performance for Shampoo is just fine though as she definitely sounds cutesy enough in Shampoo's "Loving wife" mode but Cathy was still able to make her cutesy high voice still work for Shampoo's "Female Outcast Killer" mode. Basically to make a long story short its another fine example of the Voice Acting in the Ranma 1/2 dub from Viz.
About a decade later there was an alternative dub of the Ranma 1/2 series done by Animax for the South East Asia TV Market made by a recording studio in Hong Kong in which Candice Moore takes over the role here. Well first of all one could easily notice on how Candice's attempt at a Chinese accent is a lot lighter (at first I thought Candice didn't bother with the accent at all at first but then she occasionally slips into a light Chinese accent though). But aside from that little issue about the accent Candice's performance is not too bad as she too sounds considerably cutesy enough for the role as well. While I do think that Candice's attempt at the accent be a little thicker (if anything else it would make her sound a bit more different from her other roles in the show) but its still a pretty good example of the Animax dub though. Overall I liked them both but I think I will go with Cathy Weseluck on this one.
