EDITOR'S OPINIONAh yes ladies and gentlemen tonight we shall see a VC for one of the most infamous examples of a Dirty Old man ever let alone in anime namely from the Rumiko Takahashi classic "Ranma 1/2" the one and only HAPPOSAI! In the North American released English dub from Viz ever since the 90's he has been voiced by Paul Dobson. Now I will mention this much on how Happosai is not only one of the more known roles that Happosai has done but its also one of his faves as well in which one could definitely understand why and tell from his performance. Paul Dobson's voice for the role is rather high and elderly but still sound natural in the process and one could tell that this is one of his fave roles because one could see on how he definitely had some fun with this role. Maybe I am being a bit biased but I must say that Paul Dobson was very well cast for this role and this is probably one of the better performances in that dub and its one of Paul's best work as well. (At least this is probably the best example on how he can do higher voices well.)
In the HK-Made Animax dub for the series that was released in the 2000s Victor Lee voiced Happosai and while this is not really bad its... not as impressive. Victor also tried to do a high elderly voice but it came off as kind of strained a bit as while its not a REALLY bad elderly voice but I have heard considerably better. But to be fair Victor's performance is not bad sure its not quite as spirited as Paul Dobson's but Victor does do a pretty good attempt at trying to capture Happosai's gleefully chaotic spirit. Basically its a rather average performance that's not too bad but I have heard better even in this dub. Overall I am definitely going with Paul Dobson here but Victor Lee is decent on his own merits.
