Pokemon Pokemon

Voice Compare » Pokemon » Tracey Sketchit

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Tracey Sketchit with sound clips and images.
Tracey Sketchit is a Pokemon watcher and the assistant of Professor Oak. Tracey loves to sketch drawings of Pokemon and he also has a broad knowledge about Pokemon. Tracey admires Professor Oak and it was a dream come true to be accepted as an assistant. During the adventures in the Orange Islands Tracey was Ash Ketchum's traveling companion along with Misty. It was during this season that he replace Brock.

When the producers of the Pokemon anime realized that Pokemon would air in international countries, they were worried that some viewers may perceive Brock as a racist character; since he rarely ever opens his eyes. So they wrote Brock out of the story with the intention he would stay with Professor Ivy permanently and at long last be happy with a woman who loved him. However when fans expressed how much they missed Brock and no one complained about any racism, the producers brought Brock back for the adventures in Johto and had Tracey stay with Professor Oak.

In the English dub version of the Pokemon anime by 4Kids Entertainment, Tracey was originally voiced by Ted Lewis. After 4Kids lost the license for the anime, Craig Blair instead voiced the role for his appearance in the episode "Home is Where the Start Is".

Craig Blair's voice for Tracey is a bit more mature and it's a decent replacement but I personally prefer the voice Ted Lewis gave for the character.

Lewis was good enough for the character, though rather generic (but then, Tracey as a whole is bland, so that fits perfectly), and Blair was basically an older version of Lewis suffering from asthma attacks.

 2 Shout Outs!
1. Ted Lewis (Ed Paul): Natural sounding and perfect for a Pokémon artist. He even has some good work when Tracy is angry the way he said "I choose Scyther. Go! Take to the Sky!" was a good example of his acting.
2. Craig Blair: A hit ad miss here, his Giovanni voice was great but this here is way off.

And Craig sounds like he has asthma here

To be honest I do not like Craig Blair's version at all despite the fact most feel it sounds similar to Ted Lewis it sounds pretty weak

Ted Lewis made Tracey, an otherwise fairly forgettable and bland character, stand out a bit more and he was fairly good in the role. Not too memorable or anything, but he did Tracey fairly well given the character's nature. 9/10

Craig Blair was okay, actually: not good, but not bad, either. As Galactic_Cyrus has said, Tracey himself is a fairly bland character, so it fits well enough. He certainly had some awkward delivery of his lines and the acting was pretty artificial when compared to Ted Lewis' Tracey, but it's average. 7/10

@Savate I thought he had potential but the few number of eps and the fact it's around the time the series is about to show a waste of potential from less influence from Takeshi Shudo is beginning to show hampers him

That said I think Craig sounds a bit odd

Ted Lewis makes Tracey a bit more enjoyable than he would be otherwise, but unlike with Giovanni, I don't think Craig Blair was that bad in the role. He sounds sort of bland, but that's exactly what Tracy is, so it fits. XD

Ted Lewis. Very happy that TPCi let him come back as Giovanni as well. He will be Tracey in all future vocal appearances as Craig Blair has departed the franchise. This will make Tracey the first (and possibly, the only) main cast member to regain his original English voice actor.

Ted Lewis. Final. Period. Craig Blair messed up with Tracey worse than Giovanni. Since Craig Blair is no longer with Pokemon USA, I bet there's a chance for Ted Lewis to do the voice of Tracey again.

@Legacyman Wow, really? I hope so!

@Skyler24 I hope so too. If it does happen, Tracey would probably be the first main character to get his first actor back. Hopefully, it will happen.

Ted Lewis is most fitting of the two. Craig Blair is very good as well, but a bit high pitched and forced.
